They have the skills and technology to cross interstellar space and yet lack the ability to be able to land said craft without crashing into a mountain and creating a massive fireball...... Kodiak the city is not really remote, But there are parts of the island only accessible by boat or float plane. Those places are referred to as "the bush".

The half circle was almost certainly the moon with half of it covered by thick clouds. But some of the other stuff is kinda cool. I've lived here in Kodiak for 31 years and have seen some interesting things in the night sky. But of course when you mention those incidents to other people they usually just laugh.
From what I understand, and I lived in upper Southcentral Alaska, this is everywhere in Alaska. Certainly this was "business as usual" where we were. Doesn't have to be Kodiak...the whole state is ......I'll put it to you this way: Long time neighbors of ours called our area, because of the phenomenon; "the Devil's playground"
Wouldnt the ash be from burning up asteroid entering the atmosphere ? As much as i want it to be aliens, gotta think outside the UFO box. Something burning goes over, then ash falls.
They for sure recovered whatever it was and whisked it off to some hangar!😉

Space junk. There's millions of pieces of it that sometimes come into our atmosphere and burn up on re - entry.
