  • Pollination is vital for the survival of plant species. During pollination, pollen is transferred from the male reproductive organ, or stamen, to the female reproductive organ, or pistil. This process allows for fertilizing the plant’s ovules, which eventually develop into seeds.
Meanwhile, propagation through breeding is one of the best ways of multiplying your plants.
Breeding improves the quality of the plants and provides a set of new characteristics to choose from. In the case of cactus, you get to mix and match them to form a desired look or "personality."
For you to better understand the process of breeding, the basic idea of pollination is discussed in this video.
We also have drawn the line between asexual and sexual reproduction, self-fertile and self-sterile plants with several actual applications.
A step-by-step checklist is also provided here to guide you when pollinating plants so as to achieve successful fertilization and eventually producing seeds.

How about seed-grown gymnos that came from the same mother? Are they considered as clones or do they differ from pups?

I also want to the answer on this question, like seedgrown with same mother plant but with different characteristics. Can we pollinate them when they are matured enough?

      Thanks for watching Lokean.
asexual propagation is made by taking off a part from the mother plant. this is what makes them just "one." they are called clones.
for instance, there's this mother plant 1B. I took a portion of it's body and grew it. The new grown plant is called as 1B also and it's a clone of the mother plant.
Pups are also called clones of the mother plant.
however, plants from seeds are results of sexual reproduction. the female sex organ received pollens from the male.Fertilizaation happens. then it produces seeds.
it's the same with humans. We've got our mom and dad. When the egg cells are fertilized, they form a baby. That baby may have come from the mother but they will always be different from each other.

@@jaeronfaraon8833 yup you can cross pollinate the two seedgrown plants.
      it's like this -
      plant A (X) plant B = 5 seedlings:
      plant AB.1, plant AB.2, plant AB.3, plant AB.4, plant AB.5
you can pollinate plant AB.1 to AB.3, and so on and so forth :)

Can I ask po pwede po ba naipollinate ang anak niya na by seed sa mother niya? Or sa pollen donor?

hello thanks for watching. Ah do you mean like this:
      mother x father = baby?
      then baby x mother.
ANW: yes. that is what we call backcross breeding. either way, the baby can also be pollinated to the father.
we do this to further strengthen the charateristics. for instance the baby showed long spins which he got from her father. To further enhance that long spines, you can pollinate the baby to the father.
