rain is a full entertainer , he started as a dancer and then he trained his voice , as for me I don't care about technics i love his voice and his performance on stage is the best
This is so interesting. I have always known Rain to be a great dancer but not the best singer compared to others but its okay. He is great as a performer overall anyway.
One of the reasons kpop has r&b as one of the main components is literally because of first gen idols like Rain and Se7en. I will say for his earlier albums his best songs weren't title tracks, like No No No. You can also blame JYP who had a particular type of training he liked to produce an r&b and pop sound. His sound is why i got into kpop back in 2000, there's definitely a sound that you would've heard back then. I think for a dancer turned idol he's accomplished a lot, i honestly think he enjoys the performance.
Best Gift, Love Song, and Rainism are my favorite Rain songs. He may not be the best singer ever but he is very influential in the industry and he has made some bops.
He may not be technical, which is odd for me cause I don't gravitate towards intuitive singers but I was enjoying this cause he was still SANGIN. But yea I do wish that he took technical training. But hey, if his voice still sounds as it did 20 years ago then I can't complain. Also maybe I got a wash of nostalgia because I def agree with the part about "development" and I actually tried to listen to his music after this but it wasn't hittin like I thought it would.
Rain is really royalty 🔥🔥a great IDol 💯 ❤️ I love that song, I remember that when he released that video I didn't expect it. Amazing IDol 💯💯 I like so much classical style music. I love very classical style music
To be fair, JYP has never been among the top companies in terms of vocal training, especially with JYP pushing his "half air, half sound" technique and probably exerting more influence in those early days when Rain was signed. And there are plenty of groups (and soloists) whose music I love who don't (in my very uninformed opinion, as I am not a vocal coach nor a formal student), have great technique - IU is one of my favorite soloists of all time, and I like a lot of BTS too. Something I noticed is that IU actually has that thing where she pulls off of notes quickly, as well, and while that can absolutely add emotion, I think she sounds healthier (and arguably, better) when she's in a lighter space.
I LOVEE me some Bi Rain det man was my ult along with Jaejoong and Junsu in 2009 😭😭😭 he had my ass in a thigh hold around my kuh neck! Love Song, I Do, It's raining, Rainism, Im Coming, Slowly.. I could go on. But yeah thats how JYP taught him to sing that "breathless" singing was popular when he debuted 😭
@@hmshms1036 girl.. No. That was a part of the JYP branding then, and it was popular amongst the masses. There were other groups/individuals (i.e. BoA, DBSK, etc..) that had to dance just as hard as well who did not utilize that same breathless singing lol.. He continued to pass that type of technique to his other groups after rain as well
Im not seeing any negative comments surprisingly😊 cause i was ready to defend your honor🤣 I cant really speak on Rain much cause i only know Rainism and Switch To Me (with JYP) ill defo be adding some if these songs to the playlist☝🏾 but he has a decent raspy voice that i wish i heard more in kpop🙂 Also love the new intro. Gonna miss Come In tho Another thing, when he sings higher notes him and DK sound similar 😊
Rain doesnt has the best vocal indeed but I love his raspy voice. And like you said, he does focus on dance as well. He did live sing when dancing hard. Some vocal singers are focus on vocal and some idol singers focus on dance. Rain did both. He is entertainer. Great actor as well. As Rain fan, I would said nothing wrong with your analysis. For vocal wise, maybe you can check out Ha Hyun Woo, vocalist of Guckasten. He is my bias in term of vocal. Maybe the best male vocal in my opinion. He won 9 consecutive as King in King of Mask Singer Program. No one break his record till now ( the last time he lost its seems been programed because he need to focus on his next concert so he choose really ordinary song). Please check out Ha Hyun Woo performance on King of Mask Singer programe on MBC and on Dingo Killing Voice. I guarantee you will love him as you love Big Mama :D Thanks for your reaction ~
@@Koko3op Yes! But maybe better for you to check out his performance as Music Captain in King of Mask Singer 1st to show you his great vocal. Because in Dingo he sung his own songs and his band Guckkasten's genre is psychedelic rock, not all people like this kind of genre. I my self love it, but maybe this genre doesnt fit you (honestly some of my friends love him as Music Captain but not too like his Guckkasten's songs as they said its kind of noisy). MBC has uploaded all of his performances in King of Mask Singer in 1 video, THE MASKED SINGER SPECIAL★HA HYUN-WOO★ but not sure if its will get blocked if you show the MBC logo on your video. Anyway, just check it out! Thanks!
I like how you explain using the diaphragm vs not. I know for me, talking or singing throughout school and what not, I DONT use it at all and that's why my throat always hurts. even though this style isn't the healthiest, a raspy/airy voice can still be good.
Yeahh a raspy voice can’t definitely help you stand out. Prior to 2016 I never used to have a booming voice, then I started working in a loud rooftop bar for a year and half, after than my voice was in a constant projective state loool. Kinda grateful for it tbh
Whether he was singing live aside......doing a Killing Voice for Rain is a little...mmmmmm.......odd? He was never known as a stand out vocalist, he WAS/IS an incredible dancer and on stage performer. He's as big as he is for a reason. His songs are not what I would call re-listenable bc they were SO of their time in the korean music scene and really dated.
Tbh I didn't even mind the songs a lot, it was requested and tbh I was curious. Also I wasn't expected big vocals but just ... better technique cos his voice actually has great moments.
It's not odd, rain is literally one of the reasons the hallyu wave happened. You guys are acting like he's the worst singers when his music helped bring r&b to a lot of listeners in Korea. Something that's a standard now in kpop for male singers.
I had no issue with his songs. But his singing technique and note choices. Also speaking on things you don’t know isn’t illegal, hence why people usually kindly inform you so you learn, not reprimand and forbid them like you’re their parent loool.
Rain is def one of those artists that I only watch but don't listen to his songs on their own. Hip Song choreo??? 👀 I'll replay that any time, but it's not on my playlist lmao. Going back to your comment on him being funny, he's great on variety shows! He did a project group with Lee Hyori and Yu Jaeseok which was funny. He also has a variety show on Netflix with a comedian too
I have nothing against your analysis of Rain but I don't like over produced sound. I hear it live live. I guess that's why I don't watch killing verse lol 😂 😅 Thank you for reacting to Rain though because he was my gateway into kpop because of his acting.
@@Koko3op yep and I just noticed my bad grammar in my comment lol 😆 😅 English is my first language too. 🤦🏾♀️ thanks for replying. I noticed you watched Ateez did you get to see Guerilla yet?

Rain's songs are breathy coz that's what JYP's motto was back then (and sometimes even today). "Half Air, Half Love" kek
Let’s keep it honest and real and the comments. We can all agree to disagree . Doesn’t make Rain any less influential in the industry 🙌🏾

Rain was in JYPE and worked pretty closely with JYP in his earlier career.

the one and only rain
taemin is a fan of him
I could say that he is his "role model"
Thanks for posting this! I enjoyed hearing your analysis because you notice things that completely go over my head.

Rain Is ROYALTY
I’ve seen you like and praise people who cannot sing lmao so this is just very funny to me
Like who? Please state them with your chest.
@@Koko3op I mean you can't go around praising subpar vocalists like Jimin and Jin then thinking rain is particularly bad in comparison to them.
@@triplej8666 They’re about the same tbh. They could also improve when it comes to technique.
