Lovely video! What a wonderful experience to be given a taste of what it is like to attend a lecture at Oxford University! The lecture is very clear. Even I was able to follow it!

I would dispute the claim that colour is a physical property. The way a particular object interacts with light is certainly physical, but colour fundamentally depends on the way that light affects the human visual system. A species with different pigments in its cone cells would categorize colour completely differently.

The physical structure could be interpreted differently but it would be the same physical structure

So... When she talks about rigid designators and says that "If Marianne Talbot were called Lucy Smith" and so on that we'd still be tracking the same person in various other possible worlds... Here's my question. Isn't there a certain place where that line of reasoning breaks down? What about the possible world where Marianne Talbot was born a man, or was born in another country or was of another race? Would a black man named Harold Johnson from southern Kentucky still be the same person? A Marianne Talbot who, through different initial conditions was someone else, yet with the same mind, or soul? Or is there actually something to the genetic code? In other words, would physical reality then BE mind, or soul, as Descarte says? Would the changes I described be sufficient to say that there is no such thing as a rigid designator when it comes to a person?

How can you say that the chair is blue outside of our perception?

Why does it seem that there are only old people attending to this course? This is interesting for everyone. Or is that a matter of free time or something?

Is physicalism true? To probe this, we're going to divide everything into Physical and Mental. . .

***** What is this "inside" thing you are talking about? Sounds like you are taking about a cartesian soul. There is no "inside" in a physical world. But sure, mr youtube comments guy, I guess you solved the biggest question in history.

Richard Challinor The bible agrees with Descartes for example the following verses.
2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes (to the spirit world), that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
Jeremiah 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven (the spirit world) and earth (the material world)? saith the LORD.
1 Colossians 3:13 Every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire (God) ; and the fire shall try every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) of what sort it is.
1 Colossians 3:14 If any man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1 Colossians 3:15 If any man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character) shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself (spirit, mind, consciousness) shall be saved; yet so as by fire (God).
1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's (spirit, mind, consciousness) work (soul, personality, character), pass the time of your sojourning (foreign residence) here in fear:
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit (spirit, mind, consciousness) is dead, ... .
Ecclesiastes 12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed,...(by dying) Ecclesiastes 12:7 ...: and the spirit (mind, consciousness) shall return unto God who gave it.
Ecclesiastes 12:8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity. (the material world is a simulation from the spirit world)
