    Maori Battalion march to victory
    Maori Battalion staunch and true
    Maori Battalion march to glory
Take the honour of the people with you
We will march, march, march to the enemy
And we'll fight right to the end.
For God! For King! And for Country!
AU - E! Ake, ake, kia kaha e!
    Te hokowhitu toa
    (Twenty times seven braves)
    Mauria atu ra
    (take away hence)
Te pueru o koutou tipuna e
(the capes of your ancestors -)
Te mana me te wehi e
    (The awe and the power)
Te mana me te wehi e
    (The awe and the power)
    Hei hoa ki tawhiti nui
(- as your protectors, to the great far-away)
    Ki tawhiti pamamao
    (to the far-away infinite)
    Aue, aue, te aroha
    (Oh, Oh, the painful love)
    E ngau kino nei
    (bites deeper inside me,)
    Otira i tenei wa
    (but, now,)
    Haere ra
    (farewell!)
Ma te kingi o nga kingi
    (To the King of Kings)
    Koutou e manaki e
    (this is your homage-rendering,)
Ko te tangi tenei a te ngakau e
    (this is the heart keening.)
Tomo mai e Tama mā ki roto, ki roto
    (Enter boys into, into)
I ngā ringa e tuwhera atu nei,
    (these arms outstretched)
Ki ngā mōrehu o te Kiwi e,
(To the survivors of the Kiwis (NZ Army))
Ki ngā Tama Toa o tēnei riri nui
(to the brave sons of this great war)
Hoki mai, hoki mai ki te wā kāinga,
    (Welcome, welcome home)
    Kua tutuki te tūmanako,
    (Our wish has been fulfilled)
Kei te kapakapa mai te Haki, te Haki
(as fluttering over there is the flag, the flag)
    O Ingarangi i runga Tiamana e
    (of England over Germany)
    E te Hokowhitu a Tū
    (Oh brave band of Tū)
    Kia kaha rā
    (be strong)
    Kāti rā te hingahinga
    (Do not let yourselves be)
    Ki raro rā
    (struck down)
    Mā ngā whaka aro
    (Let your thoughts be)
    Kei runga rawa
    (always heavenwards)
    Hei arahi ki te ara
(to guide you along the path)
    E tika ai
    (that is the proper one)
    Whirinaki, whirinaki
    (Depend, depend)
    Tātou katoa
    Kia kotahi rā
    (each upon the other)
    Ngārimu aue
    (Ngārimu loved one)
    Anei ou mokopuna e
    (everyone here is)
    E tu atu nei
    (lamenting your death)
    Pō atarau
    (On a moonlit night)
    E moea iho nei
    (I see in a dream)
    E haere ana
    (You going away)
    Koe ki pāmamao
    (To a distant land)
    Haere rā
    (Farewell,)
    Ka hoki mai anō
    (But return again)
    Ki i te tau
    (To your loved one,)
    E tangi atu nei
    (Weeping here)

Thank you very much Jeremiah, Im looking to do this for our seniors at primary school heading to their different learning paths in intermediate and high school such a wonderful tune the 'Po atarau' song is. And now with the translation is so much sweeter and genuine. Thank you.

This is such a beautiful tribute to the brave ANZAC soldiers. Reading about Gallipoli brings horror to the minds and I don't think there's a more fitting tribute that this song. Love and respect from Calcutta, India
