When I see a notification of yours (all alerts are ''on'' fire), I stop what I do, jump on my computer, full screen mode, 4K, lay down, and enjoy. Love you stuff. Hope you are hanging on with that cigaret stuff ; get some gum, listen to some relaxing podscast or meditation but hang on ; if you fail, no big deal, just need the time at some point to dedicate to it (i mean that's how i quit but it took me years but had to schedule that in my stressfull and busy schedule). Back to your videos ; i love them all ; i didn't watch you short film yet, i'm keeping it for later, cause i must have watch 60 videos in one night. Almost surrendered and bought a xl2 but waiting to see if i can get something a bit better and easier to deal with (getting the footage properly). Oh, and i you have time, maybe when day do a video how you deal with the footage of those old camera so people can stop asking you over and over the same question. Love your choice of music, your editing skills too, not even talking about framing, cheers
Eh, looks like you were shooting in 30p or 60i and you've got some nasty edge enhancement going on but keep shooting dude. The only way we all get better is just by doing over and over :)
“Edge enhancement is an image processing technique that improves the contrast of an image's edges to make it sharper. It's also known as sharpness or enhance.” I.e doesn’t look good
P2 SD exceeds the XL2 when you shoot in the DVCPRO 50 4:2:2 codec, other then that the XL2 has the advantage, esp when you use the 16x Manual Lens which is the sharpest lens made for the XL1/XL2 but its horrible on the XL H1 lol
@digitaltproductions if you use noise reduction on the XL2 footage it actually gets decently close in sharpness. But I mainly prefer the look and color of the XL2. Also the dynamic range seems better, but maybe it's just that I find the image more pleasing.
When it comes to SD video, the XL2 is a superior camera in every way IQ wise than the HVX200. (unless you use DVCPRO 50 then you have a slight advantage in color space but its still 8bit)

And ya I was shooting in 60i instead of 30p, I have issues with the videos in lower frame rates from firewire. Might be the software I use.

No, The Mini DV recording from the HVX200 is not as good as the XL2 and in scientific studies was actually worse than the DVX100.
Even with P2 recording on the HVX200 it's quite close and I might give the edge to the XL2 still
