The Japanese lost their advantage all because one of their DDs went sub hunting, got spotted, and drew attention back to the main Japanese fleet with their CVs. Crazy how small errors like that could turn the tides of war.
Such a huge defeat only because 1IJN Destroyer decided to chase off a submarine and then return to the carrier fleet at full speed, leaving a nice big wake behind her for the American dive bombers to see, nicely done Arashi *Slow claps*
I sincerely doubt a single destroyer could've stopped the raw killing potential of roughly 100 helldivers using a deck piercing bombs that could disable/sink a carrier with a single bomb, especially since they were also being attacked by torpedo bombers just moments before they even knew there were dive bombers. Adding to the fact that many combat elements were at midway including submarines, destroyers, torpedo boats, and long range bombers stacked with the US Navy's emphasis on damage control that led to both minimal loss of ships and the IJN needing more resources to sink an American ship than they deemed nessecary, Midway, even if somehow a victory for Japan, would've been far too costly and would've led to their fall in the war anyways. Japan was doomed the second they sprang the trap.
Tristan, I think you misunderstand. Our dive bombers did not know in what direction the IJN fleet was but one of our squadrons saw an IJN destroyer and decided to follow it. Our torpedo bombers were informed on the direction but our dive bombers were not and had gotten lost until they found a destroyer returning back to its fleet at full speed and we followed it. The destroyer did not know it was being tailed by dive bombers and once the dive bombers saw the fleet they attacked. Of course the destroyer could not have helped in providing enough AA fire to stop us but it was the fact that it accidentally led our dive bombers to the carriers that did them in is what Chu-Raya is referring to.

The US probably could have lost the battle of midway and still win due to the Iowa Class Battleships that are faster, manuever better, and had a much better crew

The grand fleet battle idea really shot Japan in the foot. Because at that moment American didn't give shit numbers 1-10. They were mad as hell for Pearl Harbor. Because at Pearl Harbor what Japan did was basically walk up to a sleeping giant and poked it in the ass with a sharp, hot stick. It woke the giant up which proceed to kick their asses.
Many countries learned a lesson that day, think first before you wake a sleeping giant. And Japan has permanently waked the sleeping giant, I doubt America will ever be isolationists again.
+Thor God of Thunder In truth actually, Japan was THIS close to shutting down the entirity of the US naval fleet for about 6 months because much of the oil for the US navy were stored at Pearl Harbor. It's only that the other Japanese admirals ignored Yamamoto's orders to destroy the oil tanks which held the oil.
Derp Master yeah had that 3rd Wave happened we would have been fucked. Granted Admiral Yamamoto said "You can't invade Mainland America; there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." or something of that nature.
Yes, our fleet would've been disabled, basically making both the eastern and western theatres last a bit longer. Without our navy we obviously can't do naval invasions, and along with that we can't help out our ally across the pond with supplies and escorts.
yeah I wouldnt call japan a super power, dont get me wrong they were powerful but not a super power, there expansion was of speed not power thats mostly why in almost every battle the only thing that really held the Americans back was gurilla tactics not a conventional army

OK THAT DIDNT WORK
The Japanese lost their advantage all because one of their DDs went sub hunting, got spotted, and drew attention back to the main Japanese fleet with their CVs. Crazy how small errors like that could turn the tides of war.
where are the japanese navy?
they midway they will come soon :)

Such a shame sabaton doesn't have more songs about the pacific theater
Japanese in Pearl Harbor: Too easy
Americans at Hiroshima and Nagasaki: **inhales** *no*
Hi
Japan: Why do I hear Sabaton playing?
Such a huge defeat only because 1IJN Destroyer decided to chase off a submarine and then return to the carrier fleet at full speed, leaving a nice big wake behind her for the American dive bombers to see, nicely done Arashi *Slow claps*
Chu-Raya thanks Arashi the usn needed that
Imagine if thats the only reason we won.
Chu-Raya "Miss Arashi, we're IJN- ahh, you don't get to bring friends."
MY EARS!! the video started muted and i suddenly pressed the spacebar... oh my...!

TheSkyrimBacon Yes ^^
I have a story with this song. first time i listened to it i was small, i didn't know English very well, also while i was listening to it, in TV there was a scary documentary about people dying in Siberia, possibly by Bigfoot. since then i was scared of Midway. but recently i watched a great video about Battle of Midway and now this song make a lot of sense. not only i'm not scared of this song, it's one of my favorite Sabaton song
Ich stelle meistens eine ganze Menge Recherchen an, bevor ich mit dem Video überhaupt anfange.
They should make a song about Pearl Harbor and the US entering the war and name it "The sleeping giant."
The sleeping giant has woke up
Destruction is awake from its sleep!
Why is it that all the sabaton songs about the navy give me chills? Like, this, Bismarck, etc. All chills
This song is 12 years old and is still absolutely amazing!

I'm worried for it...
Cautiously...
I’ve been seeing ads for it....
Doubt how historically accurate it’ll be
Just watched the movie, it's surprisingly faithful to the source material.

How do you feel now that Bismarck has been released?
This is where my love for Sabaton started, this one video
"God damn it, that magnificent son of a bitch actually found them.
Alright boys, Bombing Six, we got the first bastard in line!"
"A Bloodred sun is on the rise" it tells about Japan (Empier of the rising sun) that its conquest is beggining...
well played sabaton
One of my favorite battles of the Pacific war
The Japanese Fleet lost the moment they failed to achieve several objectives at Pearl Harbor...Midway is simply a huge stroke of luck.
And as a certain Japanese Admiral said, if they can't managed to force a victory, or at least momentum of victory, in the first 6 months, then they are shit out of luck in the war. Which many military blunders after ensured that.
Subway(midway): Get them out of the case Our sandwiches This footlong is new Position of the store! This restaurant's been chosen Tactically in the car Time to alert our children We're soon in parking
Subway! We'll eat at subway! Sandwich store! Calling orders for subs Got to get some pork Head out into the store Put dressing on our bread This is the crucial moment pick the meat at the store Time to pick our cheeses Down in the bowls

Ich halte das Album gerade in der Hand und da steht "it's".
This song is so fucking good i cant get enough of it.
It's on par with Ghost Division in terms of getting you fired up in my opinion!
It's actually kind of mind-boggling how fucking lucky we got at Midway.
Like, here and at Pearl Harbor, the US caught huge breaks that, without which, the entire pacific war could have been flipped.
U.S would just build more carriers lol.
true but ships of such scale take years even with the industrial might of the usa, that downtime could be disasterous for america's pacific campaign.
The US probably could have lost the battle of midway and still win due to the Iowa Class Battleships that are faster, manuever better, and had a much better crew
TybrosionMojito we would have taken another 2.5 years but the end result wouldnt be any different
The Japanese were militarily incompetent on a level that defies belief.
And the outcome was never in doubt only the time and the cost.
Now to listen to this non stop on my way to go see the movie Midway
SAME
Play this song twice and it's the same amount of time it took the SBD's to cook the Kaga, Akagi, and Soryu.

I'm not a fan of the beginning much, but when it kicks in, it really kicks in.
Can't w8 to see how the film Midway it's gonna be :)
It impresses me that during a lot of this song, there isn't a lot of rhyming or rhythm to the words, sounding more like a poem than a song. But somehow Sabaton pulls it off and it sounds amazing!
"we sunk one of their ships they dropped *the sun on us TWICE"*
man deine videos sind gut!
Listen this while playing IL-2 ''1946''

The grand fleet battle idea really shot Japan in the foot. Because at that moment American didn't give shit numbers 1-10. They were mad as hell for Pearl Harbor. Because at Pearl Harbor what Japan did was basically walk up to a sleeping giant and poked it in the ass with a sharp, hot stick. It woke the giant up which proceed to kick their asses.
Many countries learned a lesson that day, think first before you wake a sleeping giant. And Japan has permanently waked the sleeping giant, I doubt America will ever be isolationists again.
Ethan truth Yeah
Im foreseeing a new rise of Popularity for this song in light of the coming Midway movie and i patiently await the music videos ^^
heaviest sabaton song by far
yes
Blasting this song whilst eating Subway waiting for Midway the movie
Five minutes.
Four IJN carriers.
Three days.
Two global superpowers.
One victor.
Zero room for error.
yeah I wouldnt call japan a super power, dont get me wrong they were powerful but not a super power, there expansion was of speed not power thats mostly why in almost every battle the only thing that really held the Americans back was gurilla tactics not a conventional army
Superpower probably not but it was definitely a great power for the time
Perfect song for playing Battlestations Pacific
When you calls an emergency meeting to tell, you have scan:
*WE MEET AT MEDBAY*
Imagine losing four of your best carriers in a single battle

but what about Japanese Corsairs? (premium plane). so, a cool story about this one match i had: I was a simple Hurricane mk. I/L . this one guy was a Spitfire Mk. II. he was last alive, and was at the airfield on New Guinea, or whatever. 3 JAPANESE CORSAIRS. he shoots down two, and the flak gets the third! we lost, as his tail controls were completely fucked. he was a fucking BADASS that game! i salute his skills!
