His accent change is just because he's singing faster. When you want to learn accent reduction, they often have you sing and hold notes because it eliminates a lot of the mouth and tongue tension that creates accents.
Tristan Paredes - In interviews about this record Ed said the producers asked him to whisper the words, they'd then turn it up later to give him a slightly different sound.
Yeah but it's still soooo different for me lol. Ofc he's not gonna completely quit his usual acoustic guitar-driven sound, but I was expecting smth like his old stuff; I need some songs like Give Me Love and Friends right now, no one can do it better than Ed
It’s so different from everything he’s done but it’s so fresh and great. And near the end when he turns back into himself I look at it as he’s just saying that he’s still himself but he’s experimenting
I saw someone in another channel seeing a thumbnail of Tristan and saying "Omg I hate this people who think they can insult singers just cause they're vocal coaches" and I was like sis this is not at all like that 😭
He’s stated in a couple of interviews that he compares this single to Shape of You in which it’s more up beat and not the typical “classic Ed” sound, but is not indicative of the whole new album. It’s a stand out song that he said he actually wrote after the whole new album was already completed, as he wanted to write a dance tune people could vibe to this summer coming out of lockdown. Knowing all that makes me enjoy this song even more personally haha.
This song makes me feel like it was originally created for "The Weekend" and he just eventually decided to keep it and go with it. I'm glad he did though cause WOW! What an amazing song! 👏
Ed explained to Apple Music that this was a song he just stumbled upon in the studio with some friends who wanted to make a disco song. He sang this in "whisper" register, he's obviously not whispering but that's why it sounds way higher in pitch. Personally i love that Ed changed it up again for his new album. Everything he does is gold.
@@PlanetZero the iHeartRadio one, yes the pitch but also the "tone color" (god i'm pretentious) you can hear the development in his voice but it's still mostly him which i like more personally
First time I heard it, it was a RUclips commercial before another video and I grabbed my phone to Shazam it so that I could figure out who the rando, amateur artist was because it sounded so damn good....!!!! 😂😂 Was so shocked when I looked at my phone and it said Ed Sheeran! 👏👏👏
My husband told me it was Ed Sheeran and I’m like: no way nuh uh not him.. and listening to the song for like the tenth time I can finally hear his voice 😂
Ed has explained in interviews recently that he actually recorded the song in a whisper and the volume was brought up afterwards. It's hard to tell when just listening, but if you whisper-sing along you can totally tell - he was whispering!
He said in an interview with Zane Lowe that his producer had him pretty much whispering the vocals in the mic for this song. That’s why it sounds so different from his normal voice. It’s much more produced than normal. And no shade for him doing that. Nothing wrong with him playing around with different tools to get a new sound.
There's something about your reactions that can't be found anywhere else on RUclips and I'm completely here for it! Thank you soo much for these incredibly entertaining videos, Tristan :)
