I always thought the extent they leaned into the cartoony aesthetic with Powered Up was hilarious. Even little things like how if you KO one of the robot masters and the last hit knocks them into the wall, they splat into it before falling down.
I quite adore powered up due to that very reason! Can't wait for powered up 2...

so, fun fact; if you actually open up a NSF of the Mega Man boss battle in Famitracker and mute one of the pulse channels, the song actually sounds a lot like the powered up version instead of the weird Synchopated nonsense. it seems that Minami Matsumae made a mistake when trying to use the two pulse channels to make a reverb effect by keeping the 'reverb' pulse wave channel's volume at maximum, creating the muddled cacophony that is in the retail version of the game and what the Wily Wars devs clearly interperated as being synchopated.

the original is superior in every way.
the remake's visual design feels like it was made in a level editor with simple shapes and has no style or soul, most of the music became lullaby-tier, the controls are slippery and broken (and og already had problems with that), most weapons are useless, most weaknesses don't even work (elec man lol), level challenge had been mostly nullified and a lot of gimmicks were stolen from 2 and halfassedly put into the game. the only good part is the bossfights
@@marx4538 "no style or soul" its chibi mate, there's still a lot of attention and care put into it. If the weapons are "useless" thats your fault lol, stuff like hyper bomb are actually useable now. The difficulty is what you use for level challenge (stuff like time man's stage still has some difficulty to it). Yeah oil slider is too hard to use against elec man for its own good, and super arm is still pretty useless unless if you have guts man, but the other weapons work fine against their bosses. Not sure what you mean by "gimmicks were stolen from 2", because I don't think enemies count as gimmicks. Some of the tracks are a bit too cutesy for their own good (guts man), but its not like the original game had great tracks. Some of the tracks are improved vastly. Not sure why you think the controls are "slippery and broken" because honestly it sounds like a problem on your end.

there is no attention or care put into it, none of the environments feel legitimate, each of them look like they were made out of generic tiles in the game's level editor.
hyper bomb got improved yes, but other weapons became much less useful due to them not being able to go through walls/decreased hitbox/etc, and with the buster shot hitbox being huge and much easier to time, most weapons are now useless.
time man is a bit of a challenge and the last part of wily 4 is a bit of a bitch, but aside from that it's much less fun and much more simplified, especially cut man and bomb man.
other weapons work pretty mediocrely - for some it works, for some it doesn't. cutman doesn't even have a weakness at all in refights, oil man is almost exactly the same without weakness, guts man has two weaknesses one of which runs out even before you could kill him.
i am pretty sure there was one specifically gimmick stolen from 2, alongside the time bombs and flammable oil from 6.
the original game DID have great tracks - the entire soundtrack, aside from the boss theme. for example, the original's wily boss theme was great and was fitting - the remake's is some generic dance boss theme that is starting to get annoying.
seriously, it's tiring to have platformer games that shove those "funky" boss themes everywhere, but ah well.
i legitimately played through the game fully on a PSP a week ago to see if the control issues were just PPSSPP problems - no, they were not.
Only if they made Powered Up 2. Since Mega Man 2 is the better game in everyway.
