I was about to get into a Thor Scope, from the same dealer but FL branch (La Mesa). Thank God I saw this video beforehand. I'm holding on for a long while before jumping into the RV world. With all you've been through, I would have lost it. Very frustrating and disappointing. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope it all took a turn for the best.
I am looking to buy a class B rv. Thor Tellaro has a great layout but talking to Tellado owners and perusing the internet it''s pretty clear that Thor has big persistent problems with quality control across all its class B vans. It's incredible that they can get away with putting out such sloppy work but when the current mania for RV's calms down, they may get payback. I admire your positive attitude when dealing with these issues but as for me, I am going to pass on Thor. Good luck.
Thanks! We are hoping the quality will get better. We love the class b and it’s just a shame that our van is this way. But we agree we have heard other people in similar situations like us. But then some have excellent thor vans…it’s been an eye opener for sure.
You have learned the #1 rule about RVs. NEVER BUY A THOR! It will get worse. Might want to consider getting it all fixed up and then getting out of it for a new rig.
That « never buy a Thor » mantra is almost impossible nowadays, as almost ALL the RV brands are under the Thor umbrella… which probably speaks to the quality issues across the Thor line. It limits your choices a great deal if you don’t buy an RV that is Thor branded…. Give feedback. Changes happen when customers complain. The Heimmer Brand was bought out by Thor and vastly improved because of customer feedback. Go independent is my new mantra! It supports small businesses and gets you what you want!
These issues are totally unacceptable. With so many of these workmanship quality these problems faced by so many camper van buyers it wouldn't surprise me if LOTS of people start buying standard vans and just have them converted or install the beds etc. themselves.
It's a sad state when it's considered normal to have issues and problems with a brand new rv. Especially with the inflated prices that you and so many others have paid. Now throw in the dropping value and you're locked in or buried! (If you financed) I truly wish you the best of luck and hope these defects and issues are fixed soon without more popping up right after. Thanks for sharing this with us so we as well as future viewers can learn from your experiences. 👍
Just got the 2023 Thor Tellaro 20J , Lots of heat here in Delaware , Black van was 125" in the sun, wish there was a way to have a vent fan exhausting during the day, the new battery system keeps the fridge running? I replaced the crapp gray water hose bin lock with a metal one, somebody went way out of there way to make a plastic lock so cheap. The Tallero forum is a great . Everybody seems to have head wounds from the bike rack, going to have to get back in the gym to build up my arm strength to get anything up on it. First challenge was flushing the water system, someone decided to put blue pipe in front of filter cartridge making it imposable to remove without spilling a pint of water underneath an inasesable compartment, Decided to just leave the filter out and pre-filter on my fill hose.
Aargh! The abysmal quality control of RV manufacturers lives on. I am grateful we were able to design and build our own class B because everything works. Van travel is the best! I enjoyed your video and like your personalities. New subscriber.
Omg! You all are scaring me from Thor. I thought I wanted the Thor Rize 18m but I don’t know now. Was planning on doing this after my house closes in Dec but I think I better wait and just follow up what is going on with you all and looking at other videos for complaints of theses class bs. I’m older and want to do some traveling before I’m too senile but I will wait and watch. Thank you for posting this. I hope you all get the service you are entitled to at that point expense.
I'm sorry to see you had an experience like mine. Sorry, but I think mine was worse. I bought a new Thor Freedom Elite Class C 2020 and had a continuous list of major and minor problems that I won't go into here. I have finally come to the conclusion that it was built out of the rejected components pile the week they closed down for Covid. It took over 18 months and 14 service visits, each for multiple issues, to CW before it was in working condition to actually go on a multi week trip. My motorhome is now for sale and I'm sure whoever buys it will be happy with my efforts. I will never ever buy another Thor product and I tell everyone else to do the same. I'm going back to my 4Runner and tent. Dependable, problem free, inexpensive, can go anywhere.
Oh wow. I just ran into this video after buying a Travato one month ago. I appreciate your honesty and showing all that you have been through to get a brand new unit corrected. No doubt, your videos had something to do with your expedited repairs. I’m not close to any dealer so repairs would’ve been much more difficult for me. I’m glad I chose the Travato, it has been flawless. I’ve only been on two weekend trips in the last month, but spent countless hours with it in our driveway. Zero issues. Love your videos. I’m sure you will love it after you get it fully sorted. Keep doing what you do best. Thanks.
I feel your pain. I am dealing with problems in my 18m. General RV has wasted my time. I sent Thor an email... No reply. Hope you get everything fixed soon. Thanks for sharing!
Well I have to say you made me feel less awful with our experience with NIRVC and Winnebago after watching your video. As a commenter stated this is as much a manufacturer as dealership issue and the incompetence is pervasive with both, and in our incredible experience there was a lot of blaming by both directed at each other. Simply amazing when you consider how much these vehicles cost.
People are always quick to offer suggestions they would never do themselves. ("If it were me I would go down and set that dealership on fire...") Even though going through the shop is slow, that's the best way to not void your warranty. This has to be incredibly frustrating after spending the money on a new van and conversion. Glad it's getting (slowly) fixed and glad you all are able to still use the van in between repairs.
As satisfying it is to burn down a dealership that wronged you is, you'll just acquire a whole new set of problems and you still got busted windows, water tank issues, skylight gremlin and BMPRO issue. hahaha
Every issue you have, we have & had. Plus shower pan leak bonus of swollen van floor & adjoining wood beams, repair including chunks of silicone all over the shower floor. Our van has been in the shop 4 months of the 18th weve owned it. 2 days ago the toilet flange broke, 3 weeks ago the dashboard AC went out. 8 hours, 12 vollyed calls been LaMesa & Thor we are driving to a dealership which will repair the leak that WA State couldn’t manage @ their Ram dealerships.
Our van completely shut off, including headlamps while driving on the highway. Today driving to Califfor the AC appointment, the pioneer dash computer has turned off 10 times so far.
You are the most patient and positive people I've ever seen! l do like you "an if" sign about the control screen. Makes me want to say "an if" I ever buy a bran new VAN I will prob dodge that brand, but we really have and are continuing to learn so much! I like the layout but sheesh the issues are enough to drive you crazy! The company should comp you a new and improved version of this same van! The greatest thing is, so many can learn from you! We really do love your videos and look forward to some good trip videos soon! Keep the Faith!
Two major problems here: 1) Thor has zero quality control 2) Neither does La Mesa RV. Best thing to do is do a thorough walk through and as you find all these issues write them down and if you want to actually offer them an amount, subtract 1,000 per issue. Then tell them to fix everything there on their lot and call when completed. Come back, check again and for everything that is still screwed up take 2,000 off per item. Then, leave the RV on their lot to fix. Repeat! If they don't go for any of that, go somewhere else.
The dealers are the worst. They love to sell you expensive stuff and make promises to fix broken things after the sale, but after the sale they will ignore you. They lie to you about things they were supposed to do for you, but never did. Why can’t they just be honest about their incompetence. I’m about 50 miles from my dealer and on two different occasions I got up early, fought rush hour traffic, dropped my trailer off and after waiting 2-3 hours was told the manufacturer sent the wrong parts. BS. The dealer ordered the wrong parts. I had to reschedule. That’s 200 miles for two incidents, at 10 mpg of diesel, that’s 20 gals. at $5/gal for a cost of $100 and 10 hours of wasted time.
Hello from Fairbanks, AK. You folks must be in the running for sainthood with all your patience and (mostly) positive attitude. Me personally would have lost my mind long ago. I can believe Thor let this unit go out with all those problems, where was quality control? At least you are getting help from them now. Hopefully soon may all your issues get resolved.
Thanks! We appreciate this. We are just trying to keep a positive attitude and realize things can always be worse. And hopefully our troubles help others going through similar issues. But we are happy that things seem to be going in the right direction now!
Bought a Northern Lite Truck Camper....6 year warranty but never had to use it. Going on 7 years of riding over mining roads in the Rocky Mountains, deserts in Navada and Utah off road as much as on road and boondocking it 99% of the time. Only had a few little problems and when I called the company they actually put me on the phone with the guy on the factory floor who put the thing together and he walked me through the fix. Now that is customer service. We live in this thing 6-8 months out of the year and it is awesome. I highly suggest people avoid anything built by Thor and look for alternatives that still care about quality and service.
I’ve already told you all the problems I had with my new Thor Rize. I appreciate seeing your video so I know it’s not just me. Nice that your RV place does house calls! They are about as efficient as my RV place in Tacoma. What can you do but keep pushing them. 🤷♀️ Thank you for the videos!
OMG! I bought a Tellaro July 7th at Rec Van in Fremont, CA. I stayed in the Bay area for a couple of weeks to make sure all systems functioned and I understood everything. Then I drove to my home in Mexico. That's right, a foreign country! So far, so good. I have had a few cosmetic issues but no major system issues. No mobile service calls in Mexico. Watching your video is my biggest nightmare.
@@Patrick_Ross Not good. I have planned 3 trips, all which were cut short with electrical problems. The Balmer house alternator has been replaced twice. Both batteries were defective and have been replaced. The Truma Combi system control board had to be replaced. I'm currently on my way to Tuscon, Az to have my solar panel replaced. It stopped charging after the batteries were replaced. Most of the mileage I have on the van is from trips to La Mesa service centers. On top of the inconvenience, there are all the related expenses of travel, meals, and hotel costs while waiting for parts to ship and service appointments. I can not recommend Thor Motorcoach.
Oh my goodness! You all sound like us. We have spent so much time at camping world, it never ends. I do love the van, but my goodness where is the quality control here.
Glad to work on your coach, for a little piece of mind, I have seen far worse. All we have left is so miniscule compared to the bm pro master node and charging system. Hillary you are great the relay that engages the auxiliary alternator is housed behind the panel at the base of the "B" pillar... see you guys again soon.
I hope Thor is taking care of you guys including that continuing slider window issue. So far I’ve had good luck with Thor. Your Thor rep can tell you what has been ordered… or not.
Watching this on our way home from Woods Canyon Lake! I hope things look up from here and no more issues! :) We got lucky with our Solis and haven’t had any problems (except for some cosmetic flaws). Hope you get back on the road asap with nothing more to worry about.
Good luck. My friend has one of these, 9 months later he’s still waiting for warranty repairs. Techs come out with the wrong parts, miss information and no Call backs. Oh and it was bought at La Mesa RV also.
Another 18M owner here ... new one at that. Only issue we've suffered so far is a fault with our Winegard Extend 2.0, which lost the password to the changed SSID - so have to send it in to them for repair. A&L RV out toward Nashville, TN so far has proved to be a competent bunch.
Thank you so much for doing these videos. We picked up our van on July 26 and have run into several problems, some the same as yours, others different. Like you said it is good to know you are not alone with these problems. But on the other had, when you pay 6figures+ you really expect things to work. Looking forward to following your other videos. We too ate in the Phoenix area.
You are so welcome! It’s helped us knowing we aren’t alone too! That’s awesome I our in the Phoenix area! Aren’t you so ready for fall!??? We are over the hot weather 😂
Man I wish I watched this video before buying our 2023 tellaro. Major issues and have made 3 payments on it and it’s still at the dealer.. now that it is “finally” fixed… and they delivered the van, we took it on a trip from Ct to Tn. And the inverter won’t turn on…so no Av. The lithium batteries keep dying and getting crazy errors … The euro bed rest rail screws pulled out making the queen bed option unavailable… being a carpenter I was able to reported that with some silicon adhesive and longer screws… the construction of cabinetry is so poor . Screws are not long enough to attach. This van is such a disappointment… looks like it’s gojng back to The shop… for more repairs.
@@Vancaskeys giggle...so far I love it but lots of general cosmetic interior repairs some I can do others I will need help. I purchased mine from LaMesa here in Tucson. I am still learning how everything works. 🤔
Hi Hillary and Bob .. I am glad Thor company ..got Involved ..like you said .. Little-by-little..getting things fixed in your van!!! I know you guys love your van.. and that's all you guy want is to get it fixed.. to be back .. and the road again.. Thank you... Thor for watching out.. for your great customers !!! Hillary and Bob your best !!! Thank you for sharing 👍😊🙏❤️
Very unfortunate about the quality issues with the Thor brand, I really love the floorplan of the Scope 18M with the bathroom in the back and the open floor plan on a 18' long chassis. I have been reading a forum of Scope Thor owners and they seem to have mixed feelings also about the quality, some of them are very handy and done most of the repairs and upgrades to make the van more reliable like adding lithium batteries, inverter and getting ride of the noise generator. Also fixing the shower pan which flexes and is prone to crack over time, and putting longer screws on some of the cabinets so they wont fall apart.
Dude, you are one patient man. It sounds like you need a new van. It’s crazy how I stumbled upon this video I just got an email from LaMasa in Fort Myers Fl. and was about to give them a call but thanks to you I won’t even drive by the place. I’m looking for a Thor Rise but I’m having second thoughts. I’m going to see if anyone is having problems with their RV. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
Haha thanks. If you go back in our videos to last year you'll see we used to have a Thor Rize. The only issue we ever had was with the poptop (it came ripped) but other than that it was a great van. Thankfully we have had most of the issues fixed since this video. Good luck on your Van Search!
I love your videos because it shows the good, the bad, and the ugly of owning a van. It’s so informative because I want a van and this gives me a list of things to look out for. What service warranty do you have that comes out to your house?
Have you had a ceiling leak yet? Not that I’m wishing it on you but it seems to be a common with the Thor Scope/Rize vans at the ceiling fan. Not sure if the problem is prevalent in the Tellaro models. We had a major leak during a rain storm, took it to our dealer (General RV) and they “fixed it.” When I drove through a rain storm yesterday, guess what? It was leaking again. I called Thor and they gave me the number for RV One in NC. I have an appointment with them next week. Hoping they fix the problem. Make sure they seal your replacement skylight properly. Good luck guys. Hope everything gets straightened out and you are back on the road without issues.
Keep laughing Hillary! Better to laugh than cry, which I am sure you feel like doing. Thank goodness Thor finally stepped in, although I think they should take a more aggressive interest. Hang in there Bob.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Thor seems to be struggling with quality control. And La Mesa isn’t exhibiting stellar customer service. Not a good combination.
We have a rule of thumb when purchasing an RV. If it's built in Elkhart Indiana don't buy it. Thor, Winnebago and Forest River quality sucks as you have experienced. It's far easier to do it right the first time during the initial factory build than to have to fix customer issues in the field. You are way more patient than we would have been with issues like this. We would have returned it. We prefer the Class B+ motorhomes over the class b cargo van build outs. Class B's have very little room, wet bath, sliding door and no storage. We ended up ordering an LTV out of Canada. Hopefully build quality will be better with these units.
Many thanks to you for sharing your van issues, I was planning to purchase a pro master camper van in March 2023 when I retire, but I think I’ll pass on Thor products. I’ve read that Thor quality controls on their products are nonexistent. I hate that you nice folks had to go through this…. Shame on Thor and La Mesa RV for not providing immediate and complete service repair…. I would have lost my sh!t on the detached broken window on a brand new van🤨
You are welcome! We just want to share the real side of owning a camper van. :) The highs and lows. We have learned so much this past year and hope it helps others.
Our local ambo service (non profit) has a fleet of 75 ambos. They started replacing the 2014 E Series with ProMasters... The maintence crews HATE them. Some with 100k-120k miles might be on #2/#3 engine and or #2 tranny. Oil filter housings are junk....loads of other issues. They are in the process of trying to move them OUT (sell them)
My belmar isn’t working either, and in another video you said your radio and backup camera stopped working for a short time. Mine has stopped working altogether. According to Pioneer the radio isn’t compatible with the Thor tellaro promaster 3500. The dodge dealership said it isn’t thief original radio. My water tank was also leaking they couldn’t find it.
Ours is an after market stereo so maybe they’ve upgraded them. I totally get the issue with the water tank…sometimes you have to fill it up and drive around to see where it’s leaking from. I’m
I just picked up y new Thor Rize and the window awning on one window is exactlysame as yours. One window nice n snug, other way away from wall. I asked about that and no response except normal!
Hello, love your videos. Been following a while. Look, I’ve been looking at a good few videos of B class vans manufactured by the BIG RV companies… of which Thor owns most of the brands. Quality and control of quality of build in the manufacturing process seems to be a huge issue industry wide. In my opinion, the BEST and ONLY truly tested way to ensure a perfect build, or close enough to, and one that suits and meets all your needs, is to go DIY or get an independent company to complete your van build. There is a reason why wait periods can be months long. 1 Build quality is usually exceptional, because these companies, the reputable ones, have more at stake to maintain perfect quality standards. 2 Vans are custom made to meet your “picky” needs (LOL 😂) like 4x4, great storage and practicality whilst maintaining comfort. I really do believe this is the way to go. Alternatively, pick up a used B class and update it yourself. I am still torn between doing a self build or getting a used Thor 18M (which suits my needs perfectly) and updating the electrical to lithium, getting rid of the generator, propane - less weight, more storage! And updating the solar system and inverter. Stripping out all the unnecessary nonsense in the van. Install a recycling shower system, compost toilet. Good luck! 🍀 Happy Holidays 🎉 🎅 🎄
We agree! Our next van will be a custom one. This is great info! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us 😃 We have learned our lesson the hard way. Happy holidays to you!
Check out Wilderness Van's, they build in Canada, ship to the US and built quality. Ours is 2 years no issues. Not sure they supply the van though these days or if you have to buy and provide them to build out
It’s been a nightmare with Thor since I bought my tranquility van. These vans are being put together without proper inspection. Their service is garbage.😢
This is why you don't do van life if you're not skilled in some fashion with mechanical systems. You cannot rely on a vehicle to be perfect. You will need to fix/upgrade things even when it's newish.
This is so sad that you have to deal with all of these problems after paying so much money for that van. I was thinking about buying one of these but I am having second thoughts. Please continue to share your experiences. Thanks!!
Wow, I am only halfway thru your vid and have to say... you guys are laughing and smiling WAY more than I would. I would be F-ing PISSED. A brand new vehicle costing about a 120 grand should NOT be coming apart so soon!! I just picked up my 2023 Tellaro 20J today and already having issues on the first day. I hope I am not going down the same road you have started down.
My husband and I purchased this same Thor. We have some of the same troubles you have (and some that you don't) we are so glad we're not in this alone. You said you used zip ties to keep the skylight closed as a temporary fix. How did you use the ties? We can not figure out how to keep it closed.
You are not alone! Sorry you have the same troubles. We finally got our skylight replaced…video is coming soon. Shoot us an email and we can send you a photo of what ours looked like (Vancaskeys@gmail.com)
Wow 😮 rethinking buying one of these...from LaMesa no less. After watching the video till the end.... ridiculous that there would be that many quality issues with a new van. Not for me....
We've purchased two new class b rvs', ditching one for another. The runarounds and someone-dropped-the-ball excuses are incredible. I now advise people that if you buy a new rv, expect a year to get everything fixed. That appears the norm. Only advice I have is being nice is a poor strategy. Being a pain to the dealer seems to help.
Love you guys! I'm learning so much. Q1 - Related to myoama160's comment - did you get an inspection? If you didn't, do you think it would have caught some of the issues or not? Q2 - you often say driving the van is like driving in an earthquake. Is it a really uncomfortable ride? You've said your van is also very loud. Do you have any advice for good riding and quieter vans? Thanks for all the time and energy you put into making the videos!
Watching these videos and dealing with the poor dealership(what if Thor had not got involved) and poor quality control has kept me from buying one of these. You can google your local dealer and see what people say. Affinity RV in Prescott is another one. I have no faith in these products. What makes you think they won't catch fire or more and more issues.
2023 Update/ 2023 Thor 20 J Ram removed a bunch of cushions in the back and cut my PURPLE mattress down to fit across the back. I see your at Airstream looking for the new Ridgeline. They came out in August 2022 and I wish I had waited, about the same price as my Thor 20J but a better arrangement. The Thor battery monitor is not working now, and I don't know what the voltage or capacity is now. I work mobile and not able to hook up for days at a time. I know you had some issues with the monitor early on and am reviewing your videos from last year. Would appreciate any advice. I move around a lot and don't have a lot of time to wait for service.
The display for the state of charge…that company has a good website that you can use to trouble shoot. I would start there. You could also monitor your batteries on the solar charger. It’s not that great but it’ll give you some rough info on your star of charge.
The DAD, all things mechanical/ electrical. Daughter sent me the link for the Thor Manual and I pulled up the Balmar document. It appears the fuse is up near the battery according to the diagram on page 4. She is in Tampa now but headed to Atlanta next. My thoughts are , if the fuse was open there would be no message or anything on the gauge. She has just about every policy THOR sells but she does not have time to leave her van, or make an appointment week in advance. BM Pro shows the battery is good. I may have to Jump in the Sube and drive from Delaware to Atlanta!
I recently emailed Thor to ask a question about the Thor Midas, just a question, and it took them a week to answer a simple question. They offered no alternatives; just basically “No”. I would never buy a Thor product just based on their lack luster response to a simple email.
I'm so sorry to hear of your continuing issues. It must be so frustrating for you guys. Thor should be embarassed. Seems like they are not interested in quality control. I know that people say you should expect some issues with every van (ridiculous). This is OVER the top.
@17:03 that cabinet film is wrinkled! WTH! I think it's best for Thor to give you several grand $$$ to have you remove these videos and a few more grand as shush money!!! Really, now I know why I see so many DIY van conversions. At least you know what you're getting.
The saga continues….slowly getting rectified! The dog….you don’t bring him/her on your trips? The service technicians..the messengers..what a difficult job to be in the middle. Did you get the alternator issue fixed or is that connected to the control board?
It does!!! Slowly but surely we are getting it fixed 🤞🏼 we don’t bring Luke our dog because we are not sure how’d he’d do. He’s a rescue and has anxiety in cars. Alternator is not fixed but parts have been ordered and hopefully will be fixed soon.
@@Vancaskeys So when you go on a trip..Luke stays home? Benadryl and short trips…just not trips to the VETS! Beer runs..fun runs…sleepovers IN the van in the driveway…I’d bet he’d get used to it. Ours threw up everytime we got in the SUV. Then we enticed her with a Dairy Queen pup cup..which she consumed in the rear cargo area. Now if the hatch is up..she jumps in..no Benadryl needed she doesn’t throw up!
I was debating between Thor sequence 20a and new airstream rangeline. After seeing your video, I am leaning toward airstream. But I heard their quality control has issues too. Too bad pleasure way doesn’t make pop up version on high roof of promaster.
@@robertjennings7774 We bought the first-year model basecamp. The quality was so bad, Airstream had to buy it back. Several recalls, major design flaws, poor workmanship. It was so disappointing and a big pain. They did buy it back and replaced it with a traditional Bambi trailer, which was top notch and we no issues with that. The Rangeline is a compelling product, but I'd take the Winnebago Solis over it. Winnebago seems to produce quality now, and the price is much less.
Man, this is scary! I was thinking about buying a Tellaro, but now I’m sorry to say, I’m really having second thoughts about buying anything from Thor. You would think with all this shown on the internet that they should do something to improve quality control! It’s unreal for one buyer to have all these problems. Now I don’t know what to do. I have spent hours deciding on this rv.
Don’t let our experience ruin it for you. I know it’s common for RVs to have issues…but ours was crazy. We just got a total lemon. But it’s all fixed now. And we love our Tellaro. I’ve heard people say bring an inspector with you and have them do a thorough inspection. So that the issues get fixed before you take it off the lot. Some of our issues were because La Mesa had crazy turn over and we kept getting lost in the process so it took longer. Yes our issues were terrible but this is the second Thor we have bought and our first one was great. Also we have found being in Facebook groups (Sequence & Tellaro Wannabees) helps us learn and talk with other owners. Anyways hope this helps!
The problem is, before reading yours, I had read others that had issues with them as well, and thought I would go ahead, but yours takes the cake! You two have had a lot of patience to have put up with all that. You deserve an award or reward of some kind! Really the only thing that would stop me from buying it is if it doesn’t have blind spot assist. I love the layout of the Tellaro, but may go with the Slumber. Do you know about any blind assist on the Tellaro? I haven’t found anyone that has said anything about it.
@@readynow7430 We do have it…our mirrors have a light that comes on and beeps. But it doesn’t have lane keep or park assist. But we do have a back up camera.
If you guys didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have no luck at all with the van 🤦 I have a 2022 sequence 20a pop top same van you have but different color interior thank God I have not experience any problems what my van what you guys are going through
Shame with the Thor Build Quality issues. Winnebago also have those too. They are rushing to get those vans out to the masses and failed on the build quality. Quantity before Quality. I'm just glad that my Coachmen 2022 22c Didn't have issues except for the sliding door window which was covered under Ford's warranty. To be fair, almost every forum I've visited be as it may Winnebago, Thor or Coachmen, I do see people with issues on brand new vans. Coachmen had the least amount of problems. It's daunting endeavor for new RV owners to go through these problems. Put it this way, you guys are now the EXPERTS.... 🤣😂Good thing you guys are more visible in social media. Imaging those without the outreach? No service.. sigh...
Just a quick question on warranty as we recently picked up a 2023 Winnebago Travato 59G on the promaster chassis. It comes with a one year full warranty on the whole van and of course the dealer wanted to sell an extended Good Sam plan. We were contacted by the National Good Sam company that also sells the same plan at half the price of the dealer. Its only $52 /month which I thought was reasonably but now I am reading horror stories of how Good Sam denies many claim requests on items that are supposed to be covered. Any thoughts? Is there a better plan than Good Sam?
Thank you for doing this video. I was considering a Tellaro, Dazzle, or even the Rise. After seeing this I will NOT buy a Thor product, I will also no do business with LaMessa dealers. If you didn't do these videos exposing them, it would still be a nightmare ! I'll spend my $100,000+++ dollars elsewhere.
Your videos are on the money, the Thor product is not the best! My Tellaro L has much of the same issues. The only thing different is LaMesa in Florida is five minutes away.
Thor is terrible! My 2021 tellaro spents months in the shop for electrical repairs and it still doesn't work. They ran out the clock on the warranty and now I'm stuck in a van with no AC power.
Purchased a brand new 2022 Thor, can’t use it because the bmpro does not work, Thor asked for pictures and proof of purchase, I provided what they requested, I was told they would send a new monitor, 5 days later, I was told, it was not sent and they will not send a replacement, my next motor home will not be a Thor ….. previously owned two Winnebago’s, should have stuck with them. Thor is very disappointing!!!
I had water leaking when I first got the van my problem I was told the tank didn’t have the spillage hole. I wonder if anyone have the experience with slow snail slow when filling your propane tank?
I was about to get into a Thor Scope, from the same dealer but FL branch (La Mesa). Thank God I saw this video beforehand. I'm holding on for a long while before jumping into the RV world. With all you've been through, I would have lost it. Very frustrating and disappointing. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope it all took a turn for the best.
This video is a good example of why you should always get an RV inspection.
Well... maybe Thor should have sent you a new van altogether with quality-controlled certification... this is insane!
@Sharon If you prayed hard enough would it not be fixed ?
I almost wished I had watched this first, just bought one😢
@@Sandra-cm5ezhow it going?
I guess nobody should ever buy an airstream again. because it's owned by Thor.
@@captaintomstairstream is owned by Thor?
Yup!
These issues are totally unacceptable. With so many of these workmanship quality these problems faced by so many camper van buyers it wouldn't surprise me if LOTS of people start buying standard vans and just have them converted or install the beds etc. themselves.
I’ve been going back and forth between the Thor Tellaro 20A or the Winnebago Solis 59PX. This video really helps.
Awesome! You’ll have to let us know what you end up with 😃
It's a sad state when it's considered normal to have issues and problems with a brand new rv. Especially with the inflated prices that you and so many others have paid. Now throw in the dropping value and you're locked in or buried! (If you financed)
I truly wish you the best of luck and hope these defects and issues are fixed soon without more popping up right after.
Thanks for sharing this with us so we as well as future viewers can learn from your experiences. 👍
Very true! It’s sad and frustrating. But we are thankful to get to share our process to hopefully help others.
What a nightmare for a new vehicle purchase. Your so patient!
Definitely a nightmare. 😅
Oh no! Sorry to hear this. Praying yours gets fixed too!
@@Vancaskeys - it’s 8 months later and guessing your prayers didn’t help Diane one bit. Diane….please chime in!
Well said! It is so frustrating but you are right...at least we can still use the van between repairs.
As satisfying it is to burn down a dealership that wronged you is, you'll just acquire a whole new set of problems and you still got busted windows, water tank issues, skylight gremlin and BMPRO issue. hahaha
We also own this Thor Tellaro NIGHTMARE OF A RV
*California. My bad, its extremely hot in here, driving into the sun.
Thanks Kent! LOL I didn’t realize it said “an if” alit if the letters fell off because of the heat in arizona 😅
Great idea!
Where was quality control? Thor never had it!
Thank you for the videos!
Yeah we are thankful they have a mobile service. Sorry about the problems you are having.
Hopefully you have a great one and will not need to call a mobile service! Sounds like so far so good! Happy travels!
So tell us, Greydon….how is your van holding up 8 months later?
@@Patrick_Ross
Not good.
Thanks for the feedback about thor.
Oh my goodness! You all sound like us. We have spent so much time at camping world, it never ends. I do love the van, but my goodness where is the quality control here.
Wow the whole van is falling apart and you haven't had it that long . I guess i scratch off Thor from my short list when i buy my new van.
This is why I plan to buy a used (pre 2020) cargo van and build it myself…no propane, electric with solar panels.
Great idea. We will probably build our next van.
Hope all got repaired. We love our 18M. No big issue
We are getting there! Love that you love your 18m!
We also love our 18M...one yr+...
But many small issues?
Glad to work on your coach, for a little piece of mind, I have seen far worse. All we have left is so miniscule compared to the bm pro master node and charging system. Hillary you are great the relay that engages the auxiliary alternator is housed behind the panel at the base of the "B" pillar... see you guys again soon.
Thanks Joe! We really appreciate you and your hard work! We are getting there!
I hope Thor is taking care of you guys including that continuing slider window issue. So far I’ve had good luck with Thor. Your Thor rep can tell you what has been ordered… or not.
Thanks! Yes once Thor got involved things got better.
Watching this on our way home from Woods Canyon Lake! I hope things look up from here and no more issues! :) We got lucky with our Solis and haven’t had any problems (except for some cosmetic flaws). Hope you get back on the road asap with nothing more to worry about.
How fun! How was woods canyon lake? Thankful you haven’t had any issues with your solis!
@@Vancaskeys rained all weekend! We were soaked! 😂 almost got stuck at Bush Highway on Friday due to the rain. Good times though!
Good luck. My friend has one of these, 9 months later he’s still waiting for warranty repairs. Techs come out with the wrong parts, miss information and no Call backs. Oh and it was bought at La Mesa RV also.
Sorry to hear that. That's the worst. We had to wait 6 months to get everything fixed. Hope his gets fixed soon!
The lithium batteries keep dying and getting crazy errors …
The euro bed rest rail screws pulled out making the queen bed option unavailable… being a carpenter I was able to reported that with some silicon adhesive and longer screws… the construction of cabinetry is so poor . Screws are not long enough to attach. This van is such a disappointment… looks like it’s gojng back to The shop… for more repairs.
If anyone wants to see some of the damage and repairs I did just send me a request…
Tucson here! Bought a used 2022 Thor Rize 18M from LaMesa. I like your channel on how to get items fixed or fix myself. Will continue to follow. 😎
Hi!! Welcome! How are you liking it? Happy travels!

Thank you... Thor for watching out.. for your great customers !!!

Thanks Diane! Little by little it’s getting fixed!
@@Vancaskeys Thank you, you made my day.I have my heart set on the Rise 18G or 18 M. I'm going to watch it now . Enjoy your night.
I love your videos because it shows the good, the bad, and the ugly of owning a van. It’s so informative because I want a van and this gives me a list of things to look out for. What service warranty do you have that comes out to your house?
Awesome! Is was La Mesa Mobile but we heard they don’t have this option anymore sadly.
We feel your pain. Been there, are there, done that! Thanks for sharing.😊
You are so welcome! Sorry you’ve been though it too!
Oh no! That’s the worst! We have no had a leak yet 🤞🏼
Great material and video. Still excited to buy one. Video will make me buy new with warranty!!!! Safe travels!!!
Yes! We love ours. And thankful it’s all under warranty.
You have to love the new quality control protocols
Right? SMH.

Oh sorry! Hope you are getting yours fixed with no issues 😀
Thor.......thats all you had to say.......never.....ever....
Keep laughing Hillary! Better to laugh than cry, which I am sure you feel like doing. Thank goodness Thor finally stepped in, although I think they should take a more aggressive interest. Hang in there Bob.
😅 so true!!! It’s going to get better 🤞🏼
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thor seems to be struggling with quality control.
And La Mesa isn’t exhibiting stellar customer service.
Not a good combination.
So true! Thanks for watching! Hopefully it’ll get better soon.

Not sure they supply the van though these days or if you have to buy and provide them to build out
How did you like the new Winnebago Ridgeline, It came out last July just when she bought the THOR. I bought extra tickets for the MEGA !!!!!!
Jeebus !! I would start looking at Truck Campers with a good / big diesel. NuCamp, Artic Fox, there's lots that are very nice
It’s been a nightmare with Thor since I bought my tranquility van. These vans are being put together without proper inspection. Their service is garbage.😢
Ugh! So sorry!
Thanks!!
Thank you! We will!
Totally agree! Sometimes it’s either laugh or cry 😅 we are hoping your new Van doesn’t have the same issues! It’s not fun.
I can’t believe they are replacing the whole water tank!
We were surprised too!
Wow now I'm unsure about buying from La Mesa and Thor.
Wow 😮 rethinking buying one of these...from LaMesa no less. After watching the video till the end.... ridiculous that there would be that many quality issues with a new van. Not for me....
our Thor has had multiple quality issues as well
Ugh. Sorry. Hopefully you e gotten them fixed.
That’s great advice. People need to know this. Thanks!
I'm in the market but THOR is starting to become my last choice! And I've heard nothing but Horror stories about La Mesa.....No worries I'm in Texas
Try a Travato next time. I think you'll have better luck.
Good to know!
Wow I would not buy a Thor. Thanks for letting us know.
I recently emailed Thor to ask a question about the Thor Midas, just a question, and it took them a week to answer a simple question. They offered no alternatives; just basically “No”. I would never buy a Thor product just based on their lack luster response to a simple email.
Glad the dealership performed a PDI and found all those problems...NOT!
😂😂
I'm so sorry to hear of your continuing issues. It must be so frustrating for you guys. Thor should be embarassed. Seems like they are not interested in quality control. I know that people say you should expect some issues with every van (ridiculous). This is OVER the top.
Thank you! It’s been super frustrating.
Mwah???? I would have asked for a replacement…..like another Tellaro on the lot!
Yeah, they should have pop ups on all of the vans. I would lean towards airstream from a quality control stance at this point.
Thor owns Airstream. Look at the Airstream Basecamp reviews
Do you know if the Tellaro has blind spot assist? Gotta have it!
@@readynow7430 We do have it…our mirrors have a light that comes on and beeps. But it doesn’t have lane keep or park assist. But we do have a back up camera.
Thanks... good info just too much commercial on this video.
No fake wood, no plastics, no glue. Get a custom built using lots of extruded aluminum and wood.
OMG! just sent an offer for the new 2024 20A. I pulling back now
Thor car really have a lot of issues. We also have some problems with our tellaro...
I know it sucks, but at least they admitted to their mistake. They didn't blame someone else for the error.
Yep. True. And it's all fixed now :)
If you guys didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have no luck at all with the van 🤦 I have a 2022 sequence 20a pop top same van you have but different color interior thank God I have not experience any problems what my van what you guys are going through
Praise! So happy you haven’t experienced what we have. We know ours will eventually be great. It’s a patience waiting game at this point 😅
WTF! THOR is killing me with some of the same issues! finish work and trim are the worse. OH and LaMesa in Port St. Lucie Florida is not any better.
Oh no! Sorry you are going through the same thing!
I was looking into purchasing a Class B RV. I’m looking for one that has the same layout as the 20L model. Any suggestions?
Thank you for doing this video. I was considering a Tellaro, Dazzle, or even the Rise. After seeing this I will NOT buy a Thor product, I will also no do business with LaMessa dealers. If you didn't do these videos exposing them, it would still be a nightmare ! I'll spend my $100,000+++ dollars elsewhere.
Your alarms were telling you "sell this baby soon".
😂😂😂
Your videos are on the money, the Thor product is not the best! My Tellaro L has much of the same issues. The only thing different is LaMesa in Florida is five minutes away.
Uh...we are sorry.
...
I only wish you had more views to inform people about the lack of quality from Thor and LaMesa RV.
Yeah! Same! If people share it on Thor Facebook groups it might help.
Do you have the lemon law in your state?
Hmmm...we are not for sure.
Thor is terrible! My 2021 tellaro spents months in the shop for electrical repairs and it still doesn't work. They ran out the clock on the warranty and now I'm stuck in a van with no AC power.
Oh, I am so sorry!
Oh no! We are so sorry! So disappointing! Hope they fix it soon! This is the worst!
And to think I actually wanted as Tiburon
I had water leaking when I first got the van my problem I was told the tank didn’t have the spillage hole. I wonder if anyone have the experience with slow snail slow when filling your propane tank?
