Hi ShortCircuit, I appreciate your honest review. LG S75Q is what our family purchased and its the little brother to the LG S95QR also running at 5.1 and let me tell you all here it is STELLAR. It has not disconnected the TV to black-screen or caused any other devices to disconnect yet. So far we have been using it for a week. The bottom line for our household is it has Night Mode, where it reduces all bass and reduces all treble and keeps a 'mid-sound' which is good for people sleeping above or below the sound system on different floors if in an apartment/or house at night time. When turned off and in normal mode, the LG Meridian patented sound is much like a live concert. Why buy the S75Q over the S95QR? It's more compact, less bass and overall better for a medium sized room such as the one in this video for total bass immersion. Coming from an "audiophile" upbringing and listening to all kinds of speakers, and a few models I tested at the store from LG this year, I want to recommend S75Q for the best quality sound, for the least cost if you want true uncompressed 5.1 sound. This one is 5.1.2 sound which with the .2 at the end means more immersion. Download the LG soundbar app first, and enable Surround mode. This turns on your rear speakers. We hear: Raindrops falling down over our heads, we thought we were wet from the movie, yes really! We hear: A medium-loud bass if you set the bass up to level 6, which is max, you'll be totally immersed. We hear: Beautiful treble sound and chorus singing from live choruses picking up all highs and lows of men and women, and yes, I'll be PC here, even transgender voices. We can listen so low as 5 volume and still enjoy it and have not gone above 30 as its so so so so loud. Live concerts sound (almost like) you are there. As an owner of this soundbar setup I can confirm mostly what was said here. The sub out of the box is very overwhelming. All of the same controls from the app can be done on the remote but the app is easier to use. The app will fit with you and once I got it to comeback to working it works going forward. I find this soundbar to fill the void when just wanting to sit down on the couch and watching a streaming movie in a nice setting, no need to go to the media room to fire up the big setup, blow the pictures off the wall and then return to normal life as this does the trick in most cases.
Interesting, with the size of that bass box, compared to the actual speaker, i would have thought it would be underpowered... There is a reason why subs traditionally have a large, cube shape.
I have the same system and I’m not so impressed with the woofer. It works well will movies yes, and that’s it’s main job. But for the music part it’s just to weak. I eq:d the bass to full blast but still it’s underwealming. My ten year old 2.1 Bose system had better base and I bought that for 200$. If anyone have some tips to increase the bass I would be a very happy boy.. but I fear it’s just is what is is..
I upgraded to this from the SN11RG just over a month ago. And wow is the difference night and day! The app works with no issues for me. The sub is to the left of my TV which I think is probably the best position. The center upfiring speaker makes dialog sound like its coming from the center of the TV. My room is the standard height for a room so the upfiring sounds work really well. I didn't find it hard to set up this system at all. It took hardly any tweaking I found. It may be pricey but it's definately worth it. Especially if you own an LG TV. I have the LG C2 83". It may not be the widest soundbar but the sound is so spacious you'd be fooled to think there were separate speakers for front left and right.

I managed to get this speaker for around $900 bucks when buying my LG G1 for 1500. At that price point even Best Buy open box with missing parts was $1200. It felt like a solid deal. I can say room setup is huge, but overall it's a great sound system for the price I got it. That and a 5 year manufacturer warranty on the panel out of the box made it an easy win for me.
I am a home theater installation technician and personally, i never understood my clients who pay this much money for a soundbar. You could get a true entry 5.1 setup for less or a decent one for the same price. The lack of wires is a plus but if you care more about sound quality the get a true 5.1, if you dont care as much about sound quality then get a normal sound bar. I just cant recommend a sound bar at this price range unless you have the perfect room for it. Great video though very informative and unbiased. Thats why we love this channel!

I think a major problem with the setup and operation of the soundbar in this video is that the surround mode was turned on. It feels counterintuitive, but the surround mode should be off on this soundbar for the true audio to be heard. This surround setting is designed for the LG Soundbars that don't have rear speakers (they use very similar software and share the same app). When surround is on there is artificial surround mode from the bar itself and the rears (confusingly). This results in crossover bleeding between sounds that should be more or less discrete. I think the lack of ceiling, and super soft/open sides of the room are what’s hurting the various surround levels. Love Dan’s audio expertise as always!
Honestly I think this is one of the best product breakdowns I've watched on the channel. Dan's knowledge and breakdown of audio concepts that I find very confusing when most other people mention them, was really easy to understand and the way he speaks makes for easy listening

So awesome to have Dan doing the audio reviews! He has a great style, a really mellow voice, and is very knowledgeable. This is a role that LTT needed filled for some time now, and Dan is killing it!
Get this guy to do more! First review I saw from him, was the Sony LSPX Glass light-- It took 30 seconds to warm up to him, but he is REALLY good-- A nice match for the sometime-too-much-energy of the rest of your presenters. Plus, he knows his stuff. Even when he clearly does NOT like a product, he says so without insulting the brand. Its a rare talent, and critical for your company-- Any given brand you review, can and will eventually be sponsor. You don't want to piss them off. At the same time, you must provide honest reviews to your viewers. Above all else, he is fun to watch.
Dan in the Shortcircuit hoodie feels somehow incorrect. Like seeing your professor at their summer job. Regardless of this aesthetic anomaly, this was fun and informative as always with Dan!
I've had a previous LG soundbar and upgraded to this, the only issue I had was adding it to google home but that sorted itself out. I had no issue with the app.
Go Dan go! Dan is great, direct and honest. And an ocean of calm. Love his reviews. Just like Sarah who's also honest and direct but an ocean of energy and vibrance
If anyone is looking into buying a higher end Atmos bar; in this video the connectivity issues are mention with regards to the app. I personally didn’t have any problems after the software update but as someone who also purchased a Samsung 990B and returned it… i’d much rather connectivity issues at the speakers dropping out as with the Samsung. I returned my first Samsung exchange it for it new Samsung 990 been still has the same connectivity issues with the rear satellite which is just pathetic. I settled on this LG sound bar and I have to say I was surprised at how much I liked it and how much better it was from my LG sound bar years ago. This bar had no issues with drop outs and it sounds great! The Subwoofer was little better on the Samsung and the overall “surround sound” was slightly better on the Samsung. Everything else is just about equal such as overhead sound etc.
I tried using it for gaming and noticed sounds that should have been coming from the front left and front right channels were completely missing. The only way to fix it was to set the bar to the "movie" preset so you better like the way it sounds with that enabled. The side right and side left emulation did an okay job of placement but audio was muffled there as expected. Rear left/right was good due to actually having speakers there. In summary, don't buy if mainly for gaming where positional audio is important. Fine for everything else. A proper 5.1.2 setup is better but not leagues ahead (I went with this ultimately). Soundbars have come a long way
Something that could be useful of Home Theatre related reviews, is verifying the quality of the included HDMI cable and feature set. Especially given the whole thing about some HDMI 2.1 devices not actually being full HDMI 2.1
Right? He's the kind of guy who might never have gotten a following on his own because he doesn't have an over the top persona, but basically everyone loves him now that they have a chance to see him do his thing
Testing in a false room with a false ceiling without the app working 🥴 . Another tester went on about the firmware update and how much better it was after and how good the app was at micro managing the parameters of each part of the system, think I will stick with that test.
Serious question: How is wireless satellite/subwoofer speakers better??? They can lose connection every once in a while and that is enough for to stick to wired speakers. Which would never suffer from interference. I live in a big city in a big building, there's always like 100 bluetooth devices around me at any given time.
For that price, with satellites and a sub you might as well get separates and an avr. At least you have upgrade options. Why don't these companies understand at that price for a soundbar they are losing customers
They aren't really though. Most people buying this type of gear are buying it because its 1. Convenient and easy 2. Neat and tidy. They aren't buying an AVR and configuring their own wiring and setting everything up manually.
While my SN8YG was being repaired by Best Buy, I "rented" both the S80 and S90 - and while they were nicer than the SN8YG, I didn't hear as much of a difference as I would have expected. The S80 is the newer version of the SN8YG that I have, while the S90 is the one right below the one Dan is reviewing. I think another of my issues is the room shape as well. I have a glass sliding door with vertical blinds on the right of my couch and an open space to the left where my kitchen/dining room area is, so the Atmos stuff doesn't work nearly as well as it would in a better shaped room.
Dan is becoming my favorite reviewer for anything audio related. Not pretentious. Very patient, but honest, witty, and can explain complex concepts clearly.
Not even having the option to run wires to the speakers is disappointing. Wireless is easier but at least have the option. And that app control is also a flaw. I dont want an app for everything.
I agree with the first point. Regarding the second: an owner of this soundbar commented here, and he said everything can be done from the remote as well, but the app is easier.
I bought this discounted from my employer. I love it now that I got it set how I like it. The weird thing was, was when I first got it, the rear speakers were having connectivity/interference issues, like, a lot. I know I have several bluetooth/wireless devices around or near it, including my router thats 3" away from the soundbar. I tried moving or turning off these other devices to reduce the issues, nothing helped. I just realized that despite the devices still being where they are, the connectivity issue seems to have gone away. I have not done anything that would solve the problem lol
I'm really appreciating the Dan Audio content! So long as he is comfortable with continuing this kind of stuff, I will ask for much more of it to come!
Awesome video the host is way better than others who just whine all the time and sound fake. This host however talks like a real person and more sincere.
Some of these soundbar setups are getting really impressive these days.. I still have a huge Sony Muteki 7.2 surround system, but flanking the TV symmetrically as an obnoxious 2.2 setup. While it looks ridiculous, they cost like $150US second hand a few years ago which is nothing compared to brand new gear and with some careful tuning it's honestly still quite good for movies and shows. Plus I feel like having 4 speakers and a sub spread over each side really helps to prevent the constructive interference Dan talks about - where certain frequencies change in perceived loudness as you move your head.
I really enjoy all of Dan's ShortCircuits! He's obviously knowledgeable about the topics he covers, and it's equally important for consumers to hear everything potentially bad about the products as everything good about it.
I have a similar LG sound-bar and you really need to use the room correction and use the app connected to your phone. A factory reset usually fixes the app issue.
I own the LG S75Q and in the app I discovered there's an option that says something similar to "surround sound", that, when enabled, the height speakers don't sound at all. If you disable it, you recover the Atmos height sound.
The reason the side doesn't work is it's based on reflected sound. So one side you have heavy curtains killing the sound and presumably the other side is open studio, that's why it doesn't sound great. In a true Atmos setup you'd have actual speakers in those locations but the best the soundbar +2 speakers can do is simulated. I have the previous model S90QY and it's only just OK. I'd liked to have seen a longer term use review and you talk more about how the wifi to the rears and sub drops out regularly. It's a very common issue LG has ignored for years citing "interference" or too close to your router, or conversely too far away. No real explanations that stack up to any scrutiny. Interested to know if they've fixed it in the latest model.
I'm not much of an Audio guy, but I really enjoy how Dan presents things and tries to inform the audience. I'd really like to see more content with Dan in it :D!
Why? You pay for form factor, convenience and it’s not like they sound bad in most peoples smaller living rooms, that’s like getting upset at someone who wants a gaming laptop over a gaming tower.
Never watched Dan before today. Impressed with his dialogue and also voice tone. But at the end… I still couldn’t tell if he was a fan of this LG bar or not. And would like his thoughts of the 90 bar which is a step below the 95. Wanted his opinion about the WOW setup. That really looks promising to hid the HDMI wire… but does it work as advertised…
I just got the 90 version as well as the surround speakers for 50% off. Big step up from the old Vizio sound bar I used to have but I'm glad I didn't pay the 1500 or so dollars for the whole shebang. Very pleased so far.

Dan has an amazing voice
I lost it when Linus showed up around 9:16 XD
Dan has been an excellent add to the channel. Knowledgeable, smart and pretty easy going. The Mr Rogers pop up was funny.
9:18 When Linus came in and memed the frequency tester 👌proper deep cut right here
it's awesome getting to see Dan, always a treat! can't get over Linus coming in for the head wiggle! lol
Dan is like the Mr Rogers of tech, totally waiting for him to say "Hello boys and girls, today we'll be seeing how a speaker is made".
I think it works best if you have a regular 8 or 9 foot ceiling, not a 50 foot open air warehouse.
and walls, it relies heavily on reflected sound to simulate Atmos
i don’t know much about tech. i can’t afford most tech. i don’t have a use for basically any tech. but i watch all of these videos regardless
Dan in the Shortcircuit hoodie feels somehow incorrect. Like seeing your professor at their summer job. Regardless of this aesthetic anomaly, this was fun and informative as always with Dan!
Looks like Dan needs his own sound lab to test audio equipment. Nice honest reviews.
Seriously. Im really digging dan reviewing audio equipment. Keep it up!
Now officially my favorite reviewer of things. Takes no prisoners, just straight up honest talk.
Man, I love Dan's audio insights. Keep 'em coming my dude!
I would love to see Dan do a setting up your home theater walkthrough. Positioning speakers, etc, etc
Dan is incredible. More Dan in all LTT things, please.
Modes & nodes! Thank you Dan! This is so often overlooked as "Meh bad frequency response" when the problem is the room itself!
Soundbars have come a long way
I'm really impressed by Dan's articulation. Well spoken!
Thank you for adding the soundbar’s name in the title!
Something that could be useful of Home Theatre related reviews, is verifying the quality of the included HDMI cable and feature set.
Especially given the whole thing about some HDMI 2.1 devices not actually being full HDMI 2.1
oooo this
If you want it for your house Dan, just steal it like everyone else.
I did! I've been using it since filming for some uhhh, ""longer term testing""
It did not get better. :^)
I love Dan. Not a damn segment he's been in, a show he's hosted, that I haven't loved. You're a treasure, Dan.
i like this guys calm intelligent demeanor. He doesn't need to try too hard. He just is, a cool cat
Right? He's the kind of guy who might never have gotten a following on his own because he doesn't have an over the top persona, but basically everyone loves him now that they have a chance to see him do his thing
The sub is too loud is such a dom problem.
I like this guy... he knows what he is doing and the seriousness on his face when evaluating sound is so obvious....Good job
Testing in a false room with a false ceiling without the app working 🥴 . Another tester went on about the firmware update and how much better it was after and how good the app was at micro managing the parameters of each part of the system, think I will stick with that test.
Man I love Dan, I don’t even care much about the audio equipment he tests but his vibe is so chill it’s a great watch
@@TroublesomeOwl while I agree, once you have satellite rears and a sub it no longer fits in that minimal neat and tidy category.
Wow, this guy is such pro. This is his second video that I'm watching. His knowledge of sound systems is impeccable.
I'm really appreciating the Dan Audio content! So long as he is comfortable with continuing this kind of stuff, I will ask for much more of it to come!
Awesome video the host is way better than others who just whine all the time and sound fake. This host however talks like a real person and more sincere.
That opening was so Mister Rogers! I could listen to this guy all day...
Dan's voice is trully relaxing to listen, need more of him!
Dan's the man, the passion for what he talks about really comes through.
Dan is a great addition to the team. Knowledgable and honest with his thoughts.
A factory reset usually fixes the app issue.
i don't dislike anyone at lmg by a longshot but dan's reviews have quickly become my favorite. the candlestick speaker one comes to mind
Every video with Dan is a winner. Thanks for being you! Cheers from a fellow audio guy.
I just love Linus' cameo in this one, I just had to watch it several times :)
Compared to previous version? Big difference?
so calm and relax. Honestly, id like to see more like this.
It's been like 3 Dan videos and I'm already reading the titles in his voice.
Well done!
I'm a simple man. I see Dan, I upvote.
Dan is savage, we need more reviews from him
I own the LG S75Q and in the app I discovered there's an option that says something similar to "surround sound", that, when enabled, the height speakers don't sound at all.
I have the LG SLM4R. No complaints. Gets the job done
Good job Dan, loving your presence in LMG :)
I love how even when doing an ad read Dan sounds like he's narrating an audiobook
I'm not much of an Audio guy, but I really enjoy how Dan presents things and tries to inform the audience.
I'd really like to see more content with Dan in it :D!
Seeing people spend 2 grand on a sound bar that is inferior to separates in almost every conceivable way is just so frustrating.
Do you know of a good budget setup with Dolby Atmos via eArc? Looking to upgrade my TV speaker.
Why? You pay for form factor, convenience and it’s not like they sound bad in most peoples smaller living rooms, that’s like getting upset at someone who wants a gaming laptop over a gaming tower.
Could you please let Dan do ALL audio related reviews?!
PLEASE!
Would love to see the new Samsung Q990B as well, it comes with the 2 side speakers and sub curious how it matches up.
MORE OF DAN😄
Never watched Dan before today. Impressed with his dialogue and also voice tone. But at the end… I still couldn’t tell if he was a fan of this LG bar or not. And would like his thoughts of the 90 bar which is a step below the 95. Wanted his opinion about the WOW setup. That really looks promising to hid the HDMI wire… but does it work as advertised…
Always love when I see Dan's face on a thumbnail!
The Bob Ross of tech unboxings 😭 I love it
I really enjoy Dan's Short Circuits.
You can also tell he'd be fun dude to game with.
Dan seems to really know his audio. Happy to see him on these audio reviews
I love how quiet this guy is. Makes me want to listen more.
Dan is amazing, one of my fave hosts.
im so happy I get to unbox these kinda cool tech and tv things at our work and try them out early :D
I just got the 90 version as well as the surround speakers for 50% off. Big step up from the old Vizio sound bar I used to have but I'm glad I didn't pay the 1500 or so dollars for the whole shebang. Very pleased so far.
