I was crushed to hear about Joe's mother yesterday. Fall Out Boy has helped me through so many rough times in my life, one of which was when my mother passed away this last April. It was without a doubt the hardest thing I ever went through and Your guy's music really helped me through it. The song 'The (After) Life of The Party' was a really helpful song to me because my mother was experiencing drug problems. It's a shame that that song wasn't more popular because it's a powerful song. You guys have always been my favorite band and you always will be. I know what your going through Joe. I am sorry for your loss, and may your mother rest in peace.

Still trying to figure out how is it that when other bands change their genre it usually sucks, but Fall Out Boy, Jeez, Fall Out Boy fucking rocks! They made a change from cool to fucking perfect.

this album certainly is not perfect. Its VERY redundant with its lyrical play and delivery, as well as generic melodies. AB/AP is terrible (truly a hit or miss track), Fourth of July has the cheesiest chorus out of any song they've written, and Favorite Record is just downright garbage, the WORST song they have ever written.
Don't get me wrong, the album has some amazing standouts like Jet Pack Blues, Twin Skeleton's, and Novocaine, but overall this does have many flaws. SRAR is miles better.
True but I want to give it a chance. For almost every song I was unsure if I liked it at first. Then it grew on me and I really like their upbeat songs. Maybe they are still adjusting to the way they write songs...plus they worked with a new producer (I think?He has a more electronic music sound?)
Ginger Ruparts I think its because they wrote the album rather quickly. They released SRAR and PAX AM DAYS in 2013 and this album followed up in just a little over a year. Doesn't seem like they invested enough time in it. Aside from that, they actually still worked with Butch Walker (co producer for SRAR), as well as some additional producers, so I'll give you that. This album certainly isn't crafted entirely by FOB

yeah wasn't sure about this one at fist, but now loving it :D although when I first heard ab/ap I loved it straight off :D
but they're all pretty straight forward songs, don't see why need time to have them grow on you

Everything has really grown on me except AB/AP, and this version of Immortals, I preferred the single that was released for BH6. This song took a few false starts to grow on me, but now I absolutely love it and I honestly think it's my favorite song off this album

I'm interpreting this song as a bunch of the obnoxious people complaining that old Fall Out Boy is gone, and they're begging for them to go back in time 10 years ago, to hang out in the past. Matt Green this is more about a guy who skips town on a girl after promising her something important. The reference to blues like judy is for a judy garland song where she sings about how she should have listent to her mother say that "there's blues in the rain tonight" in reference to a man who sweet talked her and left her high and dry. Jetpacks are used to make quick escapes, so him having the jet-pack blues is him escaping but regretting leaving the girl behind.
As much as I'm sure that's what Pete and the rest had in mind when they wrote it, I applaud their ability to have a lot of their songs open to interpretation. Some are black and white with the meaning, but some give listeners a chance to personalize it so they can relate or have more fun listening. (Which is awesome song writing) Not saying you're wrong. I'm saying we're both right.

AB/AP is possibly my second favorite album by them. I'm honestly so perplexed by people that pit albums against albums. I suppose I'm that way with other artists - more selective, I mean - but I honestly enjoy every album Fall Out Boy puts out. That's why they're my favorite! Never disappoint. It's totally cool if you have more selective music tastes but man can I just say I think you're missing out.

I was sitting in class in math and all of a sudden I think of this song. More specifically, the part where Patrick does the "Baby, cOoOom home" thing that sounds like a kinda like a cry. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
But like...I got all chocked up for some random reason and couldn't talk for a while. I completely stopped listening to what my teacher was saying and just...replayed that part in my head...
That song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day and I don't know. I just choke up at this song.
The same thing happened to me with "What a Catch, Donnie" except MUCH worse. I've replayed that song so many times, it imprinted on me and I literally break down in tears whenever I hear it or have a lump in my throat when I think of it.

Same thing happens to me. Like, I'm sitting in class, doing whatever, and BOOM, I've got FOB's most freaking emotional songs in my head. I literally just sit there with the songs playing in my head, questioning my being altogether and then I realise the whole class is staring at me. Like the other day. Kind of like yours I was listening to what the teacher was saying when I suddenly hear 'I have troubled thoughts and a self esteem to match' and I'm sitting there as if I've been hit by a tornado. Like, did anyone else hear it? So yeah, all in all, I understand exactly what's happening to you. FOB is just a wave of emotional turmoil that hits you in the middle of nowhere. :)

Totally. What A Catch, Donnie is one of my favourite songs of all time but I can't listen to it without crying or wanting to reach through the screen and hug Patrick. No other bands have ever made me feel the way I do about these guys. I'm going to their concert in October for the AB/AP tour and I'm so excited and really hope they play it because it's such an amazing song. (I also want to see how many other fans like me will cry because I need more friends XD)

I can relate to how Joe feels at the moment. my mum passed away at the age of 46. Im only 19 with a brother and sister (im the oldest)
my mum passed away because she suffered an anuerism, and she had surgery but it didnt work.....she suffered strokes after it....it was really horrible. and this happened before christmas....i bought her a christmas present too...
its not nice losing your mum...because now i dont have a mum who will see me graduate or walk me down the isle on my wedding day.....

Listening to FOB's three newest albums brings back memories of sitting in the back of a school bus on a rainy morning on my half-hour ride to school as I blasted these songs through my earbuds. God, I loved those mornings.
I think what it means to be a true FOB fan isn't whether you like the music being a traditional emo sound (e.g. loud and screaming) but more about how emotionally attached you are to the album. They've changed as artists but FOB never had that sound, only emotion they felt. And if their new stuff is what they feel like then I respect that and will give MANIA my best and think more about the emotion instead of "UUUUUh no screaming, no loud base lines that rip apart my emo ears"
I've noticed a recurring theme with fall out boy fans recently. Most of them tend to like dan and phil xD

AH....This is so for my favorite. The mellow beats mixed with the rock in the chorus are so chill. It keeps me in a calm state, reminiscent to a slow motion beginning of a movie. Good good. I'm so excited for the 20th.

While I'll miss their old style and really unique sounding songs like "The Takeover, the Break's Over" and "From Now on We Are Enemies", this style is something new, something refreshing. I like a lot of the songs' upbeat nature on this album. I hope to hear more unique stuff from these guys and can't wait to see what they do next

The starts with Patrick singing along in a black muscle car, driving down the highway late at night only car on the road he gets a text from his S.O. saying "baby come home". When the first chorus comes up, the car approaches a 4 way intersection (it starts to rain). It switches to Joe in the car who checks his phone with a text from his S.O. saying "I miss you so much, you've been gone too long". The light turns green and he starts to drive but immediately stops to see a woman in lingerie standing in the street (the woman is his S.O.) standing in the rain. He gets out of the car and he looks up to see her gone. He looks around and sees nothing and goes back in the car and starts driving again. When it gets to the second "shes in a long black coat" it switches to Pete. Who is driving through a neighborhood and sees the girl again first on a tire swing (in pajamas), then on the sidewalk (in a pink nightgown) with the rain falling harder and approches his house walking up to the door and it starts to flash lightning. He looks back and sees the girl vanish again. He checks his phone one last time and its a text from the S.O. saying "I love you..." opens the door and his face is shocked. The third "shes in a long black coat" is sung and it out zooms from Andy's eye who is sitting at the dinner table looking very sad, in the background the door is still open, rain falling like crazy, wind blowing, lighting flashing and you can see the 3 forms of the girl (lingerie, Pjs, pink nightgown) outside in the street. The camera is still zooming out and at the last "baby come home" you see dangling feet and the bottom of the pink nightgown, implying that she hung herself. The screen fades to a black screen with the words "American Beauty/American Psycho" on it. END
