I skipped my freshman year of high school to work as a blacksmith's apprentice in Wimberley, TX. All traditional coal forging, focusing mainly on decorative ironwork (doors, gates, etc), but my smith indulged my teenage self's interest in the middle ages to explore armor and weapon forging when we were done with work for the day. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and really instilled the drive to be a crafter and maker ever since. Seeing your daughters get involved and show such enthusiasm and enjoyment for the process of making was really sweet, and I look forward to the future video where they showcase a piece they made themselves from start to finish.

Hi there, I think that it is great that you are getting the next generation involved in your craft. I would love to be trained in blacksmithing and so I am sure that your kids enjoy every minute working with you. It has always amazed me how you can create such useful tools and equipment from a bar of steel. I do different woodwork projects in the garden and this knife would be really handy.
