Thank you for your kind feedback. I love this sutra too. It is, to my mind, one of the most profound written expressions helping us orient toward the nature of True Reality which is beyond all words and concepts. -John
Thank you so much for the translation, reading and making this great video. it is so helpful, with the two languages and explanation! Love it so much! so inspiring. It really helped me to understand! with tremendous gratitude!
The Diamond Sutra is, to my mind, one of the most profound works in the history of human attempts to point to the nature of Ultimate Reality using words. It has inspired many over the years, and I am glad that this rendering has been helpful to you. Thanks for taking the time to share your reaction. -John
This is an exceptionally long sutra and I thank you sincerely for putting in the time and effort to create this video. It's so easy to understand and read it with this and I really appreciate this.

This is mind-boggling. I cannot even begin to understand it, yet at the same time, I cannot claim to be completely ignorant of it. It truly is complex in a very contradictory yet possibly enlightening way. Regardless, it is very humbling.
Yes. Humbling indeed. And very profound. This is one of my favorites from within the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, and has been greatly revered by many over the centuries. Thanks for commenting. -John
This is the best version for me. The traditional Chinese are too profound for me. So as the Chinese books. The simplified Chinese I too struggled to read. The English is my solution :)
The English translation is exactly what it is. A translation. Many words that are created in Chinese from this Sutra cannot be translated. Because the word simply doesn't exist in English. And that means there was never an ideology on those thoughts. It will be very difficult for you to truly realize the thoughts.
Dear @acalaacala, if you see this comment, I hope you'll do a video with subtitles for Nīlakaṇṭha Dhāraṇī (The Great Compassion Dharani)!!! Pretty please!!!

But in any case, I am grateful for your feedback and for your good wishes. May you be blessed as well, my friend. -John
I am not sure as to which aspect(s) seem contradictory. I would be glad to comment if you can elaborate. Meanwhile, what I will say, is that it is true that some teachings seem to contradict others because Buddhism wants us to encounter paradoxes as we seek the Truth that lies beyond these contradictions. Also, the Buddha taught different things at different times to different people due to his knowing what their particular spiritual needs were.
I mentioned the book's title in the description above, and it should be available either as a download or from various book sellers. Alternatively, here is a link to the complete text: terebess.hu/zen/mesterek/Diamond.html
No thanks, This Bodhisattva will happily still cling to a personality, a form, and an ego... it's fun! Extinction of reincarnations sounds very dull and boring.
I love this reading so much. Such a great sutra! You are the best English narrator for Buddhist content.

My favorite part is 15:58 "The universe is not real, but is merely called the Universe. "
Yes, quite amazing! Statements like this really jerk one into a different mind-set than the one with which we ordinarily perceive reality.
so what do you think it means then ?

I'm new to the study of Buddhism and confused because Diamond Sutra seems to contradict Sultra of the past vows of Earth Store Bodhisattva.

Thank you. Let me read both sutra many more times before I ask anymore questions.
Sounds good. Let me know what ideas appeal to you the most, and I may be able to make recommendations for further study. -John

0:54 " Biksus " ==> " BHIKHSUs "
Thank you for your pronunciation guidance.
Your pronouncing of *Dipamkara is not correct! It should be corrected as *Deepankara Buddha!

Sorry about that. I fully acknowledge that am just not very good at pronunciation of non-English words. Amituofo
In Sanskrit or in English?
I guess it would be called Romanized Sanskrit.
