The coaches colour before was mixture of blue, red and white and that was iconic! I have travelled many times by Deccan Queen which is known as Dhakkhan chi Rani.
Not only coaches even the locomotive was also with same color....u can see that in मिले सुर मेरा तुम्हारा video...

AH what memory I have traveled in Deccan Queen back in 80's and early 90. One of the best train journey.
She is always on time. I traveled by this train fairly regularly in 2012 from Pune to Mumbai and she never disappointed. It's fun to sit in its dining car and eat fresh and hot cutlets during monsoons.
I completely agree with regarding the look ....its more like Pak or Bangla or any African type color . They should have use the tricolor concept to comomarate Azadi ka Amrut Utsav
The original colour of Deccan Queen was blue and that was really good. I too don’t like the present colours .
As a delhite, i never had an idea we have such a beautiful railway sightseeing, next tourist destination, its beautiful just like Switzerland
Very surprised to see DQ leave from platform 5. Earlier platform 1 was always reserved for DQ regardless of long distance trains and a special tune was played over the speakers on the platform as the train departed. Also the dining car was where the food was prepared and not used just as a ferry point for food from the station.
The journey time was 2hrs 45mnts earlier as compared to the 3hrs 15mnts it takes now.
I fully agree with you that they should have chosen a colour representing India.
Railway dining car kitchens are in very bad shape. There would be cockroaches around. So people never bought from here and preferred to eat at a railway platform.
there are so many premium trains now. DQ is iconic but not priorities like before as the title said " Premium on Budget"

Bhai.....at 3.58 to 4.04 the river that is running parallel to the train is Indrayani river......and if you see the song Mile Sur Mera Tumhara Toh Sur Bane Humara .You will she DQ captured on the curve next to the river from hill top.......In the late 80's and early 90's , White with grey and red stripes was the livery.....which was my favourite till date.....

We've travelled on this route many times, but I learnt about the 'banker locomotives' only while watching this video. The sights along the rail journey between Pune and Mumbai are breathtaking. Thank you for the video and the knowledge. Sometimes, a simple trip like this soothes the heart, wherever you are travelling to/from. Have a great day and stay safe.
Excellent commentary along with videography! Khandala ghat vistas is at it’s peak during monsoon season. By the way the track with a steep upgrade (around 8:30 mark) is the runaway ramp, which is used to rescue rouge locos.

I have travelled in this train 4 years ago when it was in ICF rake. It was a very pleasant experience in monsoon at that time also ♥️♥️♥️ Now also I m planning to soon begin this journey again in this route and in this new LHB Deccan Queen Exp 👍
Top class train, most exclusive journey of a lifetime.
I've traveled on the Deccan Queen around three times, twice during the monsoon season, but in the older coaches. Those were the days when I used to travel for about 15 days in a month. The journey from Pune to Mumbai and Nasik to Mumbai during the monsoon is truly amazing. I prefer the non-AC coaches on these routes because you can feel the fresh air and enjoy the clean surroundings. And let's not forget about the best omelets, cutlets, and Sabudana vada I've ever had on a train! One of the major reasons why I chose this train over the Sinhagad Express, which travels on exactly the same route.

Dear Satya, First you did not elaborate entire menu of restaurant car. Earlier there were many varieties of dishes were served. Baked beans, chicken cutlets, Wada Pav, Poha, are few that I remember.
You travelled on third rail, which is a newer route laid in 80s. It has lower number of tunnels and we can see lesser ghat, do not see valley. 2nd and 1st track have better viewing.
You also missed viewing of Expressway as soon as we get out of 2nd tunnel which is pretty long. We get nice view of expressway from this track. We practically see entire ghat section of this expressway. Worth watching.
Now days I am travelling once in a month by this train. My experience is not very good.
If one is travelling in Vistadome being isolated coach AC does not starts till train starts moving, Breakfast is served after first stop. Sometimes 45 minutes.
And if it is first coach, engine blocks the view. Waste of money, around Rs.1000. I wouldn't recommend Vistadome overall bad experience.
Oh color of train reminds of a political party flag. Guess which? Not Pakistani or Bangladeshi.
This was rich man's train. Only 1st class when introduced. Witnessed silver, golden jubilee of this train. Its quality has deteorated over last 30 years.
Was a daily commuter train for Punetes, especially people working in stock exchange, much before online trading started. Suited timing perfectly. Foot soldier, clerks, accountants, of stock exchange, brokers. During weekday, one cannot get place to stand. Passholders used , innovative techniques, designed a small folding chair which would be placed in aisle, front of toilet, space between door, in vestibule ......
If i recall rightly ,the people who worked in offices at Bombay, called the Up Down people, travelled by Deccan Express ,where they also had a passholder holders coach. They would all say a prayer in unison, as the train started from Poona. Similar facilities in Flying Ranee , Bombay to Surat .
Nw its budget friendly train than before so many things will be plus and minus to fit the budget

I travelled in the 70s many time. Alway enjoyed the ride. It was alway in time. In fact my home in Pune was near the track. Every evening when it arrived, we knew the time by the watch. It was that perfect. I am now in singapore, must travel again in my next visit. It should hv been the blue look.

People used to set their watches as per the time table of Deccan Queen. This train was famous for its punctuality.
The engine driver of this train was one Mr Cama . After retirement he used to teach youngsters how to drive cars. A brilliant teacher. I learnt driving a car from him.
One of my favourite train when my head office was in Pune i used to travel by same train once in a week or twice ❤️

Great video ! Doubling of Mumbai - Chennai line has been completed. CRS inspection was done yesterday between Bhigwan and Washimbe. Satya, pls do a journey on LTT-Chennai superfast, or on Udyan express, after double line is commissioned !
If i recall rightly, double line was upto Dindigul ,and thereafter single line. I travelled on this route 50 years ago.

One Important suggestion for Satya hai and Saurav Bhai and all Train travelers and lovers. Usually, when we travel long distance journey through train we use IRCTC provided water bottle named RAil Neer , this water is neet and clean no doubt but as this water is highly ozonized this water causes high acidity after some time, I am sure after or during train travel every one have experienced this issues that they got acidity , people thinks that the reason of this acidity is tea or the food they had during their journey but it's not, the main reason of getting this acidity is this Rail Neer water, so somehow try to avoid this water and carry one or two water botel from your home in the short journey and try to use some full mineral water, yes it will be little expensive but it will save your cost on antacid gel and tablets. thanks, please try to test and comment to me back.
And Yes Saurav and Satya bhai presently I am in Ajmer so any time you visit or pass through the city please inform me I shall be happy to meet you in person there.
Recently in July, I traveled by Mumbai -> Pune Intercity train and it was a beautiful experience as the ghat section was looking more beautiful, and everywhere was just greenery separated. I have traveled many times on this route but by Mahalaxmi express which ascends the ghat during nighttime.
I travelled this route by Chennai exp... Only from Kalyan to pune

I am traveling by Deccan Queen since 1973. Recent colour of the train is not the suitatable as per the status of the train hence I request Railway Authority to maintain the original beauty status of Blue & white combination for ever. Pantry's specialization for years of Egg Omlete, Cheese Tost & Veg Cutlets will remain for ever. I love you my Legend Queen.
Once it was thought impossible through Konkan ghats. Great Indian railways. They have built technical wonder, not visible by splendor of nature.

If I remember correctly there was a train running between Madras central (now chennai central) and New Delhi with air conditioned chair cars. It was called Deluxe a/c express during 1960. This train had a/c dining car exclusively for a/c class passengers. It used to depart at 4PM from Madras and reach Vijayawada by about 12midnight.I used to travel by this train between Madras and Vijayawada. That was the first train to have an exclusive dining car.

I travelled in this train's Vista dome executive coach in July heavy rains 2022 from Pune-Mumabi also had breakfast in dinning car while coming back from Mumbai to Pune in same train in evening.
