A Perfect Robbery not carried out by crooks, £1.8 million in today's money in used notes

  • It was a robbery that must have taken months of planning and police had nothing.... what turned out to be a cash van raid would turn out to be a total nightmare of no leads for the CID and robbery squad, the usual suspects were rounded up because it is always the usual suspects and police from different forces including flying squad kept an eye if any criminals with any form would vanish or start making big purchases,With nothing a month later a Crimewatch appeal was released after hundreds of calls and some promising leads led to nothing that the police could run with.
A year after the Brinks Mat raid police had their hands full..................................#
When police found out who they were it was shocking to everyone, but can the police get them#

It could've been British military but this has the hallmark of Irish paramilitaries. The Official and Provisional wings of the IRA , even loyalists on occasions , carried out jobs similar to this on a regular basis in the 70's and 80's. That the cops never picked up any loose talk would suggest a highly efficient and security conscious group carried this out , not your bang average criminal gang.

@user-eh3zv1ex5o I kinda agree... in that; being a distributed ledger, its far, far, FAR, more opaque in the fact the transaction logs are on every other person's 'crypto circle' ledger. And I agree, that top-level actors make best use of it. However, I know the majority of low denomination transactions are generally done by those needing to do so remotely, and without going through regulated financial institutions. I.e. for crime in most cases. I'd suspect if the world (or even a single country) were to go cashless, this would be more prevelant in said situations.
Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of cashless causing criminal funding problems, I just can't see that being the case. The amount of work that goes into laundering cash would simply be offset to another way.
