Who is y’all favorite mic worker ever in WWE?
Hey
Growing up I loved Jake Roberts, he didn't have to yell to get his point across, he spoke in a way that you had to lean in and listen
Stone cold
The Rock
Stone Cold, Rock, and John Cena
Rock's promo's are so legendary, they can end pushes. The Billy Gun promo being the best example
But my name is Billy!
@@Kingsnorelax IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS!!!
that promo didn't end his push.
@@mysonandme8424 lol billy himself said it
@jahjohnson31 no his push got stopped due to backstage issues not the rocks promo
Eddie Guerrero should deserve a mention for this list. Especially as a heel. Those promos against Rey Mysterio were unreal.
"I'm your papi."
True that
There is a video on Ross' channel and it is called "Eddie Guerrero is an A+ Player (or Wrestler). 😺👍🏻
He def deserves a mention but I think those segments were a little cringe. Before it was revealed it was his son it made him seem like a pedo
Samoa Joe, that man brings a whole different level of intensity in his promos and adds it with eloquency
Agreed and thats bc he puts his money where his mouth is. I know he can whoop my ass ☠️
He's so underrated
He's so underutilised
I was hoping AEW would have him cutting more promos
Yep
Jake the Robert could make you feel uncomfortable just by the sound of his voice and that's impressive.
Jim Cornette said it best “Paul Heyman could sell an anchor to a drowning man”
That's a fantastic quote. Corny is so entertaining.
Damn what a statement and i truly believe he could
HEY-PAUL-MAN!
They should've put that quote that Roddy Piper told Stone Cold a few minutes after they slapped each other at Mania 21 "I was pissing Vince McMahon off when the red on the back of your neck was diaper rash, buddy" I never heard Piper do a promo live until then and I loved it!
Piper was so good on the stick, that bro didn’t even need to be World Champion to be a top draw & a HOFer. So good
That last clip of Jake the Snake was great. "never, ever, turn your back on someone you respect or are afraid of." Then turns his back on Cody
To this day I can’t believe they fumbled with him, that promo gave me legit chills “I don’t want the whole pie, just your slice”
The Rock was just UNTOUCHABLE on the Mic🤣👏🏾. Crowd in the palm of his hand, catchphrases, deleting Billy Gunn with one promo, charisma, and Hollywood Rock🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
he was absolutely corny sometimes, though.
@@mysonandme8424 And he was still able to make it work
The Rock was the ONLY reason I switched over to watching WWF during the attitude era. His work in the ring was great and his mic work was even better. Even to this day he could leave Hollywood, stop by for a night and be the best draw at any show
He wasn't even trying to bury him it just can't out of him
Teddy Long was my favorite how he always puts the wrestlers in a match really quick 😂😂😂
Mark Henry during his World Title Run was the most menacing on the mic.
The fake retirement was his best work.
In my opinion Jake was the best heel of the 80s along with Piper
Say about Vince McMahon what you want, but the dude is a legend and if it wasn't for him there would be no WWE. There will truly be no one like him. His evil boss character will go down as one of the greatest heels in history. Thank you Vince.
That “LISTEN HERE YOU SON OF A B****” line to HHH was felt by many.
my favorite Rock line was after his glasses fell off by accident and Foley handed them back
"...The Rock thanks you for that."
What had me so drawn to mick foleys promos is that he would express his child hood trauma on camera for the entire world to see it was very chilling
Glad The Miz is getting his respect
In my opinion he is the greatest Intercontinental champion
What he did with that belt is iconic
Cody charged the belt back to the white IC title but Miz took it to a whole nother level
Razor
I mean say what you want about The Miz he’s be consistent and came a long way
"the greatest intercontinental champion"...surely, you jest.
Gunther would like a word with you
Seeing Paul Hayman just deliver a day to day promo live and still being mesmerised I can only imagine what it’s like being there when he’s deriving something big. For me no ones better than Paul Hayman.
His Paul E Dangerously promos in Wcw were amazing definitely check em on RUclips
Now a days one of the best mic workers MJF in my opinion
I can't make a list about my favorites cause there is just too many , but as far as mic skills go Austin , Ric, Rock , Cena, MJF , Vince , Punk, Moxley , Jericho and Heyman are goats in my eyes ,I prob missed out a few great one but I could watch these guys's promos all day long
Also Edge
Christian
That should be your next video. Jericho "You Just Made the List!" Moments
I just recently watched some old clips of Ernie Ladd and he's phenomenal on the mic.
Him and Bob Backlund were great especially Bob's "American Reality" promo in 1983 promo that he modified during his Ruthless aggression era "Presidential candidate" promos
I was always impressed with Enzo Amore's mic work. His career was cut short by his behavior outside of the ring, but given enough time he would've easily been on this list.
SAWFT.
The other honorable mention (although they probably should've been on the list): Eddie Guerrero, Razor Ramon (Scott Hall), The Undertaker, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns (especially right now with the Tribal Chief gimmick), Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton
*Of COURSE* the Rock is on this list. Man has hours and hours of golden, timeless mic work.
“I Promise You I Will Never Say Anything About Your Father On This Show Again However Your Sister” Man A Younger Version Of My Self Wanted To Whip Jericho Ass When He Mentioned Punk’s Sister He Definitely Was A Fantastic Mic Worker💯😎
14:26 LOL Jerry Lawler's shriek sent that segment over the top for me.
Vince asked Heyman to “Draw him money” before that promo!
The thing is, Stone Cold's longest WWF Title reign was during his heel run in 2001.
The Rock. He's the reason I got interested in watching wrestling, because of his promos when I was a young kid.
ECW Raven storytelling was top tier
Prime Raven vs Bray Wyatt would've been amazing with the promos.
Absolutely Raven was flawless in promos
1. Roddy Piper .. 2. Ric Flair .. 3. The Rock
How Jericho made top 3 is beyond me. Those 3 guys were on a whole other plane of existence with their promos. I love(d) Jericho, but I'm not even sure if he'd make my top 10.
Enzo Amore was a SAVAGE! His 205 Live roast is a classic.
While other people degrade their opponents to hype up their encounter, Paul Heyman ELEVATES both superstars involved while hyping the match.
Just look at the promo when he hyped AJ Styles before his match with Brock
He hyped the dead Roman vs Brock match by hyping Brock as well as Roman, etc.
Hot Rod will always be my favorite wrestler of all time! Just when they think they have the answers, I change the questions!
Enzo. Period. The roasting of the whole cruiserweight division on live t.v as a impromptu from Vince because he trusted enzo is legendary
I agree with you, Ross. That clip with The Dudleys is pretty funny😂😂
Ive seen all this stuff within the last year, i started in the 99 season and im in 2002 now, every episode of Raw, Smackdown and every PPV in order of air, Peacock is so great, i have relived all these moments
2 names I have to list are Raven (especially during his ECW/WCW days) and Undertaker (Big Evil days). Also, not quite as popular these days, but Enzo deserves a mention
Also let's give credit to Ali cause sooo many wrestlers emulated his mic style... Dusty, Billy Graham etc.
The Rock v.s The Hurricane promos are underrated
0:00 When famanist ask you “why you do that” and you start with “equality you wanted “ 😂 this promo epic lol
"...and really go with selling what he's telling you."
Oooh that's a nice quote right there!
How is Mic Foley not in the top ten? The dude can make people laugh, cry, and get angry. He was just straight relatable with his material.
Ross, you and Dub have to watch some of the old Mid Atlantic wrestling videos. We called that real 'wrasslin'.
WrestleLamia is great for my wrestling videos, but you have offically been added to the list, btw your laugh is infectious, it makes me laugh even more
Nobody ever catches the cleverness of Jake's last words to Cody never turn your back on someone you respect or are afraid of *turns his back to Cody right after that showing he neither respects or is afraid of Cody * and tosses the mic over his head to cody
Wow I'm surprised no one mentioned Raven. His gimmick was way before his time and had a dab of misanthropy in his promos. Yeah, he usually went off on a tangent, but he somehow ties everything back together; usually ending with "Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore'." I will say he's definitely one of the most underrated on the mic
What about me? What about raven?
Raven was awesome, that Sandman- Raven match was just intense, also Foley Promos in ECW, and wwe, Dewey Caine and his anti-harcore promos were just wow, and Steve Austin in ecw with Steve o Mania and "a bunch of violent crap" are some of my GOAT promos.
Yeah, you look like a Raven fan lol.
If you can find it ALL of it, but the segment with Edge n Mick Foley back in 08’. I’ve only found the second half of it but the emotion both of these guys put into that promo is dope! Please react to it or watch on your own time, promise it’s worth it
Vince McMahon is the greatest villain in the history of ALL American wrestling. He's Dr. Doom and The Joker in one package.
Dusty Rhodes just an honorable mention?! Come on now.
Only issue is how far down Austin was. Rest of this list was on point.
I wish Arn Anderson had more mic time when he was in the WWF too
Ric Flair is one of my favourite promo cutters. I'm almost convinced the guy's an IRL Super Saiyan.
9:45 I was there like 5 feet away from punk when that happened and we didn’t realize what we were witnessing at the time. Meanwhile we were there for five hours. They filmed super stars, raw for the following week. Then went live with the current week’s raw. They filmed raw because they were going on a uk trip the next week
That's why the rock is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment history
THE DESTROYER Samoooaaa Joooooe 😂 Bro was Simply Money in everything he does he still is to this day
There’s an Austin promo from his days in WCW. Ricky Steamboat was injured & couldn’t defend the US title against him. The promo he cut on Steamboat was a Stone Cold promo.
1.CM Punk
2.Samoa JOE
3.Ric Flair
4. Bobby Heenan
5.John Cena
6. Paul Heyman ( He switches in and out of my top spot )
7. Miz
8. Shawn Michaels
9. Dusty/Cody Rhodes
10. Scott Steiner ( I know he was horrible but only because I laughed every single time!
And yeah personal fav has to be Jake The Snake Roberts.
So sinister with his promos, even when he was a "face" but like a cool sinister one.
Especially in a era where most of them shouted their promos, he was one of the few who spoke low, calm but drove it home nonetheless.
And his wrestling style was limited, he admits it himself but the little he did have in his arsenal he knew WHEN and HOW to use it.
Great psychology.
Facts
Even his moves and finisher was subtle but deadly
24:35 10 seconds earlier he said sister again lol
Mick Foley, Ric Flair(especially his crockett run), Roddy Piper (his heel days wayback) , Paul Heyman (before he got reptitive), Steve Austin, Samoa Joe (just intense, i wish he went to wwe eariler instead of getting kidnapped by ninjas, jobbing to Angle, and dancing around in islander dresses in TNA), Bret Hart (only his 97 heel run, when he started snapping on vince, cutting some brutal promos on hbk, holding his own against Austin , crapping on america, it was such a huge improvement from his bland babyface promos), Brian Pillman, Jim Cornette (check out his crockett work from the mid 80s and his fued with homicide in the czw-roh fued from 2006 and anytime he was allowed to tear down Russo a notch), Raven (ahead of his time, and a smart mind for the business to boot, his promos is kind of that grunge, alternative, misjudged by everyone with a ego and grievances plus cult leader to boot)
My personal list of this would probably be:
10 Jim Ross
9 The Miz
8 Edge
7 Ric Flair
6 Shawn Michaels
5 Rowdy Roddy Piper
4 John Cena
3 Paul Heyman
2 Stone Cold Steve Austin
1 The Rock
Where’s triple h
@@Gyrickbishop0978 Not on the list? Can you read? Seriously though he’s 16th, I have a much much bigger list that I didn’t comment.
@@jordandeadley360 the fact you have John cena over triple h is laughable John cena is one of the corniest ppl ppl on the mic 🤡🤡🤡
@@Gyrickbishop0978 Actual fucking cringe and shit take. Trips could work a mic well and cut good promo’s but Cena consistently cut good promo’s every week and has unmatchable intensity and energy. When John Cena speaks, you fucking listen. He even managed to make corny scripts actually sound good and when he’s unscripted he goes off and always knows what to say. Triple H cut my favourite promo of all time (“I am the fucking game”) but objectively, he can’t keep up with Cena on the mic. Also as a big rap fan I can say Cena has legit bars, no other wrestler would of dare touched him in a rap battle. Also the clown emoji? What are you fucking 6? Actually you’re a wrestling fan who doesn’t use capitals on peoples names so don’t answer that, I already know you are.
@@Gyrickbishop0978 Triple H was boring af on the mic
1. Stone Cold
2. Rock
3 Vince
4 Rick Flair
5 Paul Bearer
6 Chis Jericho
7 HBK
8 Mankind
9 Paul Heyman
10 CM punk
I feel like Paul Bearer has to be one of the best he talked for to of the greats. His voice is just part of WWF history
piper was so over in the mid 80s. in 4th grade in 1984 we used to do pipers pit in the classroom...we'd end up throwing chairs etc. the teacher went nuts
Vince was being Vince, he just went by Mr. McMahon for the show
My favourite NJPW talkers are Zack Sabre Jr, KENTA and Tetsuya Naito. They're all thoroughly entertaining and the latter two prove that you don't even need to know the language to understand a truly great mic worker.
Great Video! I have always Said Jake "The Snake" Roberts was Absolutely The Best in The 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Triple H had some amazing promos. He gave all our favorite wrestlers an awesome villain to face.
“The cream rises to the top”- Macho Man
“The cream of the crop”-Macho Man
A guy with underrated promos is Dr. D David Schultz.
MJF is my favorite modern talker. The work him and Punk were doing was awesome. Another of my faves is Kevin Owens, for two reasons. #1 He's great at face and heel work. #2 He's a fellow Canadian.
I just watched that heyman promo like 2 months ago, I'm in the 2002 season right now, on peacock
Two people who 100 percent should be on this list our raven and Scott steiner
Rowdy Roddy Piper was fr about Equal Right Equal Fights
The Rock hands down💯💯 the one when he talk about Kane undertaker and big show at the casino is classic😂😂😂
My top 10 (not in any order):
The Rock
Chris Jericho
Macho Man Randy Savage
Ric Flair
CM Punk
Mick Foley
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Jake Roberts
Roddy Piper

Hell, your honorable mentions are a to list on its own.

A clipboard
The word “it”
A potted plant named mitch
A light up jacket
Fandango
Scarves
A list of wrestling moves
I absolutely love your videos, always entertaining
The Miz is lowkey the most underrated mic workers because hes so good at being a heel and when he was in smack talk or whatever he was going in on Daniel bryan
Scott Hall should had an honorable mention also.
The miz has turned into a wow factor in his promos in the last 5 years
John Cena,Stone Cold and The Rock
Hollywood rock that Toronto promo is goated 😅😅😅
I know that the list is for wwe/wwf guys but I want to mention MJF (Hopefully WWE bound). His try not to laugh video , his pipe bomb, and the work he recently did with CM Punk was awesome as well
No one can ever top Rock on the mic ... for me I'll never get over the promo when he made Stephanie almost break character laughing at his Triple H impression lol
At 9:19 that clip of vince was used as a sample in a heavy metal song witch was skinless the Optimus
