I'm suffering from depression too and it took me YEARS to even get the right medication to deal with it and it took even longer to realize what I have to change in my life to make it worth living again. Many people spend their whole life without finding their own solution. A friend of mine killed himself last year and I didn't even know about his demons.

    • @Aric_EPU

@@DOOMWRLD2007It’s entirely possible that did play a minor role in it but the saddest part is that we will never know what was going on in his head.
They found alcohol in his system and he has been quoted in interviews that alcohol makes his condition so so so much worse like exponentially. He has also said he is at his worst when he is alone.
He’s experienced hate for the music especially with albums like Minutes to Midnight and especially A Thousand Suns, one could argue that there was more volatility with ATS than OML.
Logically, he arrived to his home with only the housekeeper there, went to his room, he was alone and still in the early stage of grief of the death of essentially his brother Chris Cornell, and the fact that it was Chris’ birthday and THEN add the alcohol to the mix and you have a quadruple wombo-combo of SEVERE instability and depression that is almost impossible to recover from. I mean the dude woke up, got on a plane to go do the photo shoot for the band, got home and killed himself. He couldn’t have been awake for even like 6 hours before everything got to him.
Suicide is extremely regretted if you read any words of people who survived their attempts, the regret is almost instantaneous but Chester died quite literally instantly. No time to take it back or regret it.

Chester had a terminal illness. For some people they never find the thing that works for them. There is no way to escape the pain. He wasn’t a coward. He was tired. Tired of hauling that pain around every day. He didn’t want to leave his family, his band or his fans. He just had no fight left in him. He left a beautiful legacy behind him and I’m grateful for that legacy. Listening to Numb in early 2008 literally saved my life. Leaving a relationship with a narcissistic sociopath, homeless with a 6 month old baby….. “tired of being what you want me to be” gave me the strength to not return and build MY life with my son. My son is 17 now and he knows how Chester saved my life and helped him have a life away from the abuse of his father. Chester was strong but he was tired. And we love him still.

7 years and 2 days ago we lost this legend. 7 years and 2 days we all lost someone that we all grew to know and love through the music he sang to us. Some of us grew up listening to this man so much that we could of called him a friend maybe even go as far as calling him a father figure. It's so sad to see such an amazing human being go the way he did, but I'm not sad for knowing the man he was, the amazing emotion he put and spoke through his music. R.I.P to one of the greatest artist ever alive in our generation.

Watch one of the RUclips videos on Chester. You'll learn a lot about him and what hell he went through.
A major contributor to his depression was sexual abuse from an early age from an older "friend" for years. Turned to drugs and alcohol to cope.
Fought demons for years and finally succumbed to those demons.
You can feel his pain in the live video for "Given Up"
