Big fan of the Evo, big fan of the Omni, rode both for many years! Revo I am not! If the conditions are good n above ,and it's surfed rail to rail it's a good board, but if the conditions are poor to average and you get a flat section and can't go rail to rail it becomes a snug! The V for me pushes water or parts the water! There is no lift like the QISC! I found if I ever got behind a section in the white water it would loose speed dramatically!!!! I am planning on ordering a Revo from Tomo directly with the QISC!!!! I live Aussie! Be interesting to here your next review on the Revo!
@@davidgorlicki160 Thanks David, I haven't surfed it much yet. It seems like the Revo hasn't been a good seller for Firewire, and many people have been disappointed with theirs. It feels better in bigger waves with power. I seem to be able to get it moving in relatively small and gutless surf, but I would probably surf the Cado or the Evo on those smaller days; time will tell.🙏🤙
Great video, I had the Evo and Revo, the Revo is good but doesn't have the magic of the Evo IMO. I also have a Volcanic Cymatic and that hands down is the best of all of them. Keep the vids coming!!
Great review Mike. You were generating lots of speed with some big gouges and lip hits already (3:23 and 3:47). I have a 5’10 Helium Evo that I no longer ride. I might be in Lagos at some point next year, if the size is right (maybe a little too big for you)? Are you based on the silver coast or near Sagres? Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Ben🙏 yeah, that's a bit big for me; thank You for thinking of me, though🙏🤙 I think if I ever get another Evo, I will try and get a V quad concave bottom, just because I have surfed the old Evo design so much in the past, The Vader looks like fun too🤙
Another great video, firewire should sponsor you with free boards, as your reviews are spot on and you can surf properly, instead of a lot of other people reviewing their boards and not actually surfing them. 👍
Agree with your points Mike. I love mine (and my Evo). The impact of the narrower outline and increased rocker are considerable. Evo was some board. Revo feels more like a shortboard. I think they may have discontinued it though. Making way for the Revo Max.
@@SamWakerley Hi Sam, it's definitely more like a short board, but faster and loser than the FRK. I'm not sure I will use mine much as I don't surf the quality waves it needs🤙 I haven't heard of the Revo Max model. Oh, no more money🤣🤣
Banger intro, you’re just destroying aqua on this thing. Perfect board for you it seems mate. The Endorphins are great fins too. Thanks for another awesome review.
I also have a Revo, it's a 5'9", I bought it last year on sale for $599 in Florida. I usually ride between 32 to 33 liters but when I picked up the 5'8" in the store, I couldn't see the 33 liters in it. So I bought the 5'9". Later I regretted not getting the 5'8", and they discontinued that model. I use the Endorfins too, but I didn't like it with a 4 fin, I prefer to ride with a 3 or even a twin + 1.
That's really interesting. I will try it as a 2+1 next Surf, as it feels a little out of control as a quad. @lukemcpherson2231 has been surfing it as a twin fin with (NVS Taylor Knox fins) and loves it!🤙
Thanks for the review Mike. Very interesting. I've always found that large spine down the middle of the board makes the board pivot nicely but doesn't hold speed thru the turn. It looks this way in your videos too. I think this "large spine" design works well in mid-lengths like the CI Mid, where you need to turn while standing a bit up from the tail. I'm curious if an oversized Revo would work well as a small mid-length......and I wonder if this is what led naturally to the Revo Max.
I agree with the pivoting; I'm unsure about the turns because I haven't surfed the Revo enough. Yet I wish I'd gone a little bigger with my model because it's so fast and loose. I don't think the extra volume would've mattered apart from being able to paddle better. I definitely agree with the spine down in the middle for mid-lengths. 🙏🤙
@@surfingtipsandtricks You know I've been surfing a Revo 5'10" (I'm 6'0" 175lbs) for 2 years in Mexico and Nicaragua and have tried so many fin combinations. My favorite has been H4's in the sides with a Taylor Knox Trailer in the 3rd fin position (Backside this worked the best for speed and turn ability). I tried 2 plus 1's but I didn't find them to work well (Akila Aipa's and Taylor Knox 2 plus 1 on FCS2). I liked the Quads H4's for barreling Nica Waves and the Neutral Pivot template from Noel Salas. But I am a bit left to wonder if it can go better with a different quad set. I've had the best feelings going backside on ripple waves with the H4 plus T Knox Trailer on long point breaks. I love how it paddles and catches waves. There is something about the board I would never get rid of it.
Thanks Mike I been waiting for this review! Props to Nicky for the terrific footage 👍 Does it feel less stable because of the spine? Btw I think Revo works well with controller quads also
I think you're right. The spine is contributing to a bit of instability, but it has so much speed! 🙌 I think maybe you have to get used to that. I wonder if a 2+1 would slow it down a bit and add a little bit more stability. I never liked the Evo as a quad. I will have to check those fins out. I will pass that on to Nicky; she will be stoked as she spends hours filming; bless her🙏
Congratulations Mike, great reviews. You should get sponsored by Firewire for sure.
Today I ordered the new Revo Max, hope you make a review soon.
Thanks 🙏 cool! I have finally seen it🤣 it looks like super fun! Enjoy🤙

Have you ever tried the Dominator? I've heard that's considered one of the best daily riders and loved by many.

Hi Mike. Could you make a surf video of frontside barrelling in bad and small/medium waves( size aprox:2/3 feet). Thanks a lot.
I'm not sure how much footage I have; I will dig around and see what I have🤙
The evo is a better all round board in my opinion.
Yes🤙
Jealous that you usually have nice conditions, and very uncrowded.
I hunt those quiet pockets🤙
