- We already know there's going to be a direct this month, but there isn't much to go off of in terms of rumors or official news. Let's try to see how close we can get anyway!

I am fairly certain we’ll be getting Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 as the Mario sports game - especially when we know it’s the kinda game they drop in the last year of a console’s life cycle.
I didn't even think of that one, that is probably going to happen then. I haven't really played one since the original on the Wii

I disagree with fire emblem not making a showing. It’s definitely possible that we see the heavily rumored Geneology of the holy war port that was leaked with Engage. Though I can def see them holding off on it until the switch 2 as a year 1 title.
Wow, starfox didn't even make the list?
1. Two NEW trademarks for StarFox and I believe a different one around the time princess peach got a new tradmark for her new game.
2. Bandai Namco working on a remaster Remake of a 3d action game for nintendo and Star Fox Assault makes the most amounts of sense. They even made the game back on GC.
3. Even after Zero, Miyamoto expressed wanting to put more energy into Star Fox and Pikmin. We got Pikmin, Fox is next.
I think star fox definitely deserves a resurface but I think that will be a switch 2 game
I really think Star Fox is a good contender for a future movie too so I think that’ll be a later on thing! Interesting points though
The 3D action game could also be Kid Icarus: Uprising, which I feel certainly would make more sense and money for Nintendo.
I already feel validated just by you mentioning Xenoblade. I totally understand that the series is still comparatively niche but so many Nintendo-RUclipsrs fail to mention it whenever big titles are discussed and it makes me a little sad lmao. Nintendo has really been helping out dropping the XC3 reveal at the "one-more-thing" part for the 2022 February direct and all the promotional material + the 20 minute XC3 direct was so great to see. I really hope they continue the hype so the series can finally reach the undeniable Nintendo-Flagship status it definitely deserves. The quality is more than there.
More people need to experience what Takahashi and Monolith have been cooking over the last decade(s).
There has been a ton of newcomers to the series since XC3 dropped and it's been amazing. (also can we get Monolith involved with the next Pokemon please? Worked wonders for Zelda, Splatoon and a ton of other games and I think Pokemon really needs a banger sometime the next years).
Monolith Soft I feel like is most likely working on either a new ip or a Xenoblade X port
and before Nintendo pulls a wacky move and puts Tomodachi Life on Switch. Boom.

Given the track record of Mario Sports titles, at least in terms of quality, a new one would be dreadful since it'll launch incomplete with no content and have stuff that should've been in the game at launch drip fed in via free updates. And after how bad Battle League was, nobody really wants a new one.
I do think a new Mario Party is quite likely, a port of Woolly World would be excellent. And I'd love to see Rhythm Heaven get a revival and some more Mario remakes to close out the Switch's life.
5:07 Promises mean nothing to Nintendo. We were promised Flipnote Studio 3D in the summer of 2013, yet never got it. There was even a Facebook page made in anticipation for it but it was abandoned after all hope was lost.
I feel like Nintendo is far more transparent and on top of making corrections to outdated promises than they used to be during the Wii U/3DS era

What do you think the odds are of having some more visual media projects mentioned this direct? Like, new info on the Mario Movie sequel, the Zelda movie, maybe a new animated project that Nintendo Pictures could be working on... it would fill up the gap of content nicely with stuff that doesn't need to wait for the next console to be out.
I think a Mario Movie sequel announcement is very likely! Seems like the Zelda movie is further out and also live action so I don’t think they’d impede on each other. We’ll see!

prime 2 and 3 would be amazing. It's actually incredible how prime remastered turned out, easily best remaster ever made imo.

Personally, I do think Fire Emblem will show up, most likely with a remake.
Requires some context, but info about Engage was actually leaked months before it was revealed, I think June of 2022, with screenshots of some characters(including the female Alear) and calling the gimmick of summoning past FE characters. The leak also mentioned a remake was in development. Of course Engage's reveal matched one to one with the leaks, meaning the remake is likely legit. If it does show up, it'll probably release later this year, or very early next year.
The popular theory is that it'll be a remake of Genealogy of the Holy War, not just because of the leak stating such, but because that has been requested for an official western release for a very long time given how heavily renowned the game is in the series.
Otherwise, I'm also hopeful for a new F-Zero game or at least a GX remake with online multiplayer. Metroid Prime 4 I feel would be an excellent way to end the show, especially if they decide to make it like Breath of the Wild and have it be cross gen between Switch and Switch 2.

another thing is that donkey country returns was one of the wii games to get a port to the nvidia shield in china, which uses the same SOC as the switch, so it wouldnt really be that hard to port

Of the 5 Zelda games Grezzo has worked on, 4 of them have been remakes or remasters, with Triforce Heroes being mostly handled by Nintendo while they were a support studio. So if they were working on a new "2d" zelda, it'd likely be a remake of a game such as Four Swords Adventuers, Phantom Hourglass, or a Link Between Worlds. I think with games like A Link to the past, Minish Cap and the NES titles alwready being on Switch through Online makes them unlikely for remakes.
I think Grezzo is working on a port of Ever Oasis from the 3DS or even better, a sequel 😊
I hope we get something Kirby related at the direct, it’s been too long since we’ve gotten ANY Kirby related content
I will call these: Super Mario Sluggers, Metroid Prime 2 Remastered, a new remake, and new 1st party game.
Tropical Freeze was not well received. Gamers warmed up to it because its quality speaks for itself, but both on Wii U and on Switch, most players had some excuse to not pick it up.
Idk scoring well, high quality, and pretty great Word of mouth (from what I’ve seen) seems pretty well received to me!
My predictions
- Lots of ports
- "Remasters" of old games
- Generic farming games
- Generic RPGs
- Some dlc for an older switch game
- Average looking games which aren't bad but just average
- Nothing exciting considering that the switch 2 is about to be announced

With how well the recent Mario RPG remakes have done, I don’t think we’ll be getting any news this direct, but a teaser revealing that a new one is in development may come soon.
An early look at a new movie, perhaps
Port of a Wii or Wii U game. With how much Retro’s been procrastinating on Prime 4, maybe DKCR.
New Kirby remaster is likely. Gonna predict they skip Triple Deluxe and go right to Robobot since it’s a fan favorite. If not, we may be getting Nightmare in Dreamland on NSO. Wario Land titles will continue to be MIA. Possibly Banjo Tooie or DK64 will come.
Third Party showcase. I’d like to see Chrono Trigger, but we won’t. Maybe a Bravely Default 1 remaster.
Who knows, maybe the final reveal is a trailer for Prime 4.

I think Donkey Kong will get a game to correspond with the ride opening at Universal. I've been thinking that for a while.
Honestly, a Wooly World port/remaster would be awesome, just as an excuse to see Joker Yoshi and K. Rool Yoshi.
Also, I am literally BEGGING for a new Donkey Kong. At this point, literally anything is fine as long as it's not just a Mario game that FEATURES Donkey Kong.
I hope they also silent release/announce Luigi's Mansion 1. It would be so great to have all three Luigi's Mansion games on the switch!

Fire Emblem will likely show up. Prime 4 will be Switch 1 exclusive. Prime 2 and 3 gotta come out first though. Prime 2 in this June Direct though.

My god, if they ported Returns to switch then, with a switch online membership, you'd be able to play every Donkey Kong Country game on Switch, excluding DK64 by technicality of course. As much as I want a new DKC having the whole series on Switch would be extremely cool! Otherwise if the games we've gotten this year already are any indicator (Paper Mario ttyd port, original peach game, upcoming Luigi's Mansion 2 port) then I think this will probably be a port-happy year to close out the switch's life with some easy wins and test the waters on how intrested people are in different series.
If I had to make a guess I'd assume some givens are Metroid Prime 2 HD, Yoshi and Poochy's Wooly World HD, the Wii U Zelda remakes, maybe DKC Returns 3D HD and then something super out of left field like Pokemon Ranger, Chibi Robo, Shin Onigashima, Fortune Street, Mario Pinball Land or just something really fucking nutty like that.
I think after the Switch 2 is done we’ll be able to say you could play a ton of entire series’ games on switch. We’re only one away for Xenoblade so there’s another one

If they get all of 2D Metroid and Prime on the switch 2 it will be my number 1 system of all time. Oh and with switch online we're only missing GX for F-Zero!

I don't know how Nintendo would remaster f zero gx on switch given its heavy reliance on analog triggers, so I think it's more likely that it'll be on switch 2, which probably will have analog triggers

I personally mostly agree with these placements, the only exceptions being kid icarus uprising remaster, entirely personal bias with no evidence to back it up.
The other series i disagree with is no Fire Emblem at the direct, the original leaker of fire emblem engage had mentioned that a fire emblem 4 remake was happening (this was back in the middle of 2022) and looking at engage and comparing it to the original screenshots, it’s safe to say this source is EXTREMELY trust worthy, also, receiving a fire emblem remake at the end of a systems life had seemed to become a common trend for Nintendos handheld consoles since the DS. (Specifically, New Mystery Of The Emblem and Shadow Of Valentia)
Admittedly there is a little bias, but we know there is a remake of an adventure game being developed at Bandai Namco, I can’t remember if it was specifically stated to be a previously handheld game but if it is I’m leaning towards Kid Icarus, IIRC they worked on the original game too
No rhythm heaven is absolutely insane tbh. Almost always has released at the end of a nintendo consoles life. Also heaven studio has gotten popular and a few rhythm heaven songs have gotten popular on tiktok(although no shot nintendo is aware of it)

Every damn system of Nintendo we got people saying the same thing..."It's crazy they got this high of a game running on this older tech." NO IT'S NOT. People don't know jack. It's not about the power of the system, a systems specs are NOT IMPORTANT. A dev can make a game look AMAZING on the damn N64 if they want, it's about knowing what you're working with and making the best you can out with that tech, not trying to go beyond what the tech is capable of. It's that damn simple. Nintendo is smart, they know the strat is to take older tech that has no bugs and was fleshed out then work their magic with it. They aren't trying to chase after power, that kills your company, Iwata stated this in 2004. A game will look as good as it can on any system IF the developer cares to make it look good. No dev is struggling to get their games on Nintendo systems cause the system is weak, it's a struggle cause they're dumb devs who only care about making a game that is cutting edge, it might look pretty but it has terrible or no gameplay lol.
Even Sakurai has said that if was very difficult getting KI:U running on 3DS. As for Xenoblade X, it’s just a massive game, and I think Nintendos first serious try at open world (alongside BOTW). I agree, Nintendo knows what they can accomplish and their differentiation strategy with hardware is very clever, but X is genuinely impressive accomplishment. IIRC they said they wouldn’t put it on Switch because it’s just that big of a game

@@RealAwwa Developing X? It would just be porting....As for Kid Icarus, his vision was going beyond what it should have been. That's why it was difficult. Sakurai could have reeled it back a bit and had it be fine.
I think woolly world is very possible. It's one that I haven't heard a lot of people mention, but other than the zelda games, it's the only game I can think of that hasn't come over from wii u yet that really should

I think it's likely that we might get a Fire Emblem remake considering that there has always been a Fire Emblem game late into the lifespan of Nintendo consoles (aside from the Wii) also there's is the fact that Fire Emblem Engage codename is iron19 and Fire Emblem Three Houses codename is iron17 so we have a game missing between them and from what I have seen it's most likely it's going to be a remake of Genealogy of the Holy War
That’s actually an extremely interesting point I haven’t heard! I think based on a lot of what people are saying in the comments I’m team fire emblem in this direct now. 😅
I would love to believe that wind waker, ocarina of time, or twilight princess are coming to switch but I highly doubt it. People have been asking for these since the switch launched and Nintendo hasn’t given us these games. Why would they right when the switch is coming to an end? If anything I could see them maybe coming to the switch 2 but… Id love to have the older Zelda’s on the switch but I’m done holding my breath.

hey im wondering now how likely do you think a remaster or new entry for tomodachi life is?
I’ve been hoping for one for a while, I think they should do it but I’m not sure if they will. My head canon is they’ve avoided doing it so they don’t have to deal with the identity politics of letting people/not letting people be in same-sex relationships. Hopefully they look past that and do it anyway 🏳️🌈

They will probably do that on the next console, because a puzzle game with somewhat small levels and environments could be a good place to show off graphics. Cram a load of details into the locations, and polish off the gameplay a bit. Also has a nostalgia factor. I could see them doing that, but not on the switch

In regards of Fire Emblem, you failed to mention the remake of the 4th entry Genealogy of the Holy War that had been rumored as much as Metroid Prime remastered and would be plausible to see happen for a late switch game like Echoes Shadow of Valentia was for the 3DS.
That’s definitely true, I know of the rumors that had been talked about as far back as 2019(?) I figured it’s too soon after engage, but now I’m seeing that I may be wrong since I think I remember a report saying engage had been done for a while
We’ll see! I could very well be wrong for that one
Especially since Engage had its USK test date on August 23 2021. Thats ~1.5 years before release, so the its too soon after Engage argument doesn't really work. Also the internal Codename of Engage being Iron19 and Three Houses being Iron17 with Iron18 missing.
