I get it! I’ve been there! My channel was going strong and then suddenly I find I haven’t uploaded in more than a year 😢 But I’ve continued to find tons of value from your past videos, and I’m also super excited to have learned you are also a music producer and musician! ❤️
You worry too much. We love you, and will be here, whenever new stuff drops. If it never drops, we're still happy you found a route which works for you
Came here to say the same thing. I was lucky enough to find this channel early on and have enjoyed it sooo much. Do what you need to do homie. We'll be here.
We're here for when videos get dropped, and if you are fired up about it the content is genuinely better. Do the work/life balancing act, and I'm excited to see what gets you inspired to put out.
Thrilled for the professional successes! Some of my favorite channels don’t follow a strict schedule, and their excitement for the projects they share comes through. Don’t let the algorithm dictate your creativity! We, the fans, will find you!
Thanks for the update! Family and work come first, always. If you can, please come to Mythic Con November 8-10th! Several other RUclipsrs will be there. DM Scotty of the DM’s Craft, Professor DM of Dungeon Craft, Jim the Tabletop Engineer, Bill of Wyloch’s Armory and Dafyyd of TerrainTronics will be there. I am sure they would love to meet you and you could pick their brains on how they balance their lives with their RUclips channels.
Love your videos! Just know that you don't owe anyone anything! Release at your own pace. I'll come back to see whatever you release. Congrats on the album btw!
Your passion for your arts (crafting, music, etc) is awesome. It's what keeps me coming back. I am willing to bet you have a patient audience. Looking forward to any videos you share when you are able.
First off, you certainly don't owe me anything. You're one of the few RUclipsrs in this space that was still making weekly videos and I often thought about how difficult a production schedule that must be. I'm just glad to hear that nothing bad happened to you because I honestly did worry a bit. Looking forward to whatever content you post whenever you post it.
Hey Garmin, thank you for the update. Super glad to hear that it's good things keeping you away from the RUclips grind. I have had a similar experience with podcasting. At some point you just have to go where the hobby excitement (or time) takes you. I would imagine that it's similar with music that if you're just going through the motions, it shows. I find it helpful to keep a "projects/topics that excite me list". When i feel I'm ready to work on something, I review the list and dive in. Another thing I find helpful is to "clear the mechanism", which means putting the hobby stuff away physically and letting it sit for a while. Then see what inspires you to get back to it. That's the thing that will get your passions going. I usually use these approaches when I'm feeling burned out, but I've found them super helpful when I have to take a break too. Either way, it's great to see you back and I'll be thrilled to watch whenever you get a chance to share. Appreciate the update!
Glad to hear you're okay, and doing well! That is a sweet studio space! And tell your inner guilt monster to shush, you don't owe a bunch of strangers on the internet a darn thing. As far as suggestions for video production work-life balance, the only thing I'd offer that maybe isn't obvious (you said it: make the things you want to make, when you want to make them; hobby stuff should always come second to family time!) is to consider that live content has considerably less production time requirements than scripted. Not none, obviously, but less! You spend the same amount of time setting up some cameras, lights, and mics, plus a few minutes for a way to read chat if you want to, but then you're set to hit a switch and make your hobby time into content, whenever you want to. And the VOD lives on, no editing required. I love editing, but man is it the time sink part of all this. Live stuff isn't for everyone, and of course timing can be tricky-- if your main availability is, say, late at night on West Coast time, well, good luck-- but it can be fun!
Thanks for the update. Your work and family comes first. I have missed your creativity for DnD, but I completely understand. You need to have a balance in your life and be able to have a life.
Dude, don't worry. I know it's preferable for the youtube algorithm to regularly release videos. For me, as a fan of the channel, I don't need a constant flow of videos. I appreciate them when they come, even if they come once every other month. You are a good person, a good content-creator and if you are hyped for making a video that translates. So keep chill if it's better for your PMA. And I don't mind the rambling nature (so that is in regard of the the suggestions): If you have a brainstorming on what the next video might be, feel confident to release a ramble video about it.
I think most of us are just glad that you are ok. So happy for you getting to work in a medium that makes you happy. As a musician that doesnt much play anymore, I am truly happy for you… and a little jealous :)
Just glad you are all right! And by the sounds of it, thriving! From one musician to another, I couldn't be happier for you and I'll just have to appreciate each video a little more moving forward! Cheers!!
Have not let me down, I’m just glad as hell that there is so much awesomeness going on for you! On a side note - man, I would love to play some music in that studio! Looks great!
Garmin, congrats man on the successes and on the new studio, that's all awesome! I'm just excited to see that you're not having to update us with some horrible news like so many other youtubers end up having to do. I think you made the right choice, focusing on what matters! The youtube algorithm doesn't like it, but I would bet none of us care if you upload videos every week - or every month - or even every year. We love your passion, and your unique way of telling your crafting story, and will always be here to see what you've got when you decide something is video worthy. Good luck man!
You are doing it right. Family and health come first. Release on your own schedule, don't feel like there is a "right" length or format for your videos, produce videos on stuff that interests you. Your genuine interest adds an energy to the video that is obvious to the viewers. You are not letting anyone down. We would be upset to learn that you are sacrificing your health, family or occupation in order to produce videos on RUclips.
I’m found you when you were on break, I think your channel, videos are so great! I was not a DnD girl, I am trying to build an advent calendar for my teen as a surprise. She likes Victorian gothic, and I needed a miracle. I have yet to start, but I have gathered material and practiced. You made it seem possible! Also, because of this channel I played DND for the first time! Love it! I personally believe seeing you successful and growing in life adventures is so wonderful! Post when you can, and we will enjoy when you do!!! Also, thank you for your channel, work, and commitment!!!🎉❤
Glad you are making a comeback, even if it is only a small one. I really did enjoy your videos! Also, the gold pants are baller! That rug in the studio, really ties the room together 😉
Dude, take all the time you need, you’re awesome and your videos are wonderful, always useful and interesting. Don’t burn yourself out, when you get the time, we’ll still be here. ❤
Honestly having dipped my toe in RUclips content creation about ten years back and seeing how the platform has changed I have to say that these days chasing it as a career or full blown business is a fast track to anxiety and burnout. Worrying about the algorithm is going to suck all joy out of the process, and these days the chances of coming up from nothing are miniscule, and it can all be taken away from you at anytime. Make videos that give you joy and share them for the joy of it. Unless you're already a millin subscriber channel that's the only RUclips strategy that makes sense any more. And if de-prioritising RUclips means getting to spend more time in your totally dope-ass new studio working on other things... that's not the worst result in the world. All the Storycraft Society vids you've shared with us till now have been absolute gifts. I'm sure whatever you make time to share in the future will be too.
Just a shout out to your RUclips partner, I was worried about you and was one of the first to ask what was up. He Facebook messaged me to let me know you were all good it was very much appreciated. I'm glad that you let us know what happened and I'm very glad you're back. We all know life happens, and you should not feel bad in any way about prioritizing. If other people don't get it, shame on them. We should all know by now that RUclips is not paying anybody's bills anymore, and we appreciate what you do as you said as a labor of love. I'm a songwriter as well, lol, and I would love for you to read or listen to some of my work. Rambling, sorry, I'm glad you're back
You have great priorities, you do what you gotta do. The studio looks amazing! You should be proud of the work you've done. (BTW, D&D and disc golf are my go-to's also, haha!) (and I'm a bass-player and arranger)
Glad you are doing good and glad the reason you had to step away was a positive one. That studio looks amazing! Looking forward to your return, and a slower schedule to keep your home life happy is fine by me, and it seems like it is fine by everyone else here too! God Bless
Glad you’re ok buddy. Life sometimes gets in way of life. Congratulations on the studio it looks awesome. Subscribed because I enjoy your content. When new videos drop they drop, just glad you and yours are all well and happy 👊
good to see you and hear you are doing well, the studio looks amazing. I'm sure with the new releases of the 2024 edition there will soon be more books and ideas floating around so looking forward to seeing those new builds from you. What I enjoy about your videos is that the builds are fun and accessible without the need of expensive 3d printers and expensive per-purchased build kits. It's also cool that you build stuff that you plan to use. Side note: if you want to keep content coming out but don't always have time for long form vids, then shorts with little build montages might not be a bad idea. It doesn't always have to have a long form. Sometimes it's just nice to see a little build or a little paint job being done
Gratz on the studio looks great. Sometimes it's the hobby that has to take a back seat. Looking forward to when ya get time to do more but enjoy your hard work for a bit.
Great to see you back. love your videos. i have been doing RUclips videos my self for the last 4½ years and the last year i have made a video every week, having a full time job and a family to take care off at the same time. I know exactly where you are and how stress full it is. It is to take care of your self and don't end up with a burn out and not be able to do anything. find your balance and only do a video when you really feel for it, and not make a video just because you need to do one to please the viewers. I can only speak for my self, but i wont go any where even if you only make one video per year. and i think a lot of your viewers feel the same way. Your content is great and I will stay here as long as you are. Thank you for this video. i was getting worried that something serious had happened to you. Thank you, and stay Safe ❤
Sending lots of love! You have to take care of yourself and family first always. I know I will be here to watch when you do put out a video. Many people will and understand 😊😊😊
So happy to hear it was your day job keeping you away. As always life balance and family come first. So good to see your face and look forward to what you release when you release it!!!
I've missed you. I'm glad that nothing bad happened that kept you away. You have your priorities straight though, spend time with family and do what is the most important to you.
Hey Garmin. Too funny that I was just about to reach out to you to see if you'd be interested in participating in the annual RUclips Crafters holiday compilation. No worries man. Do what you need to do. We'll all be here when you have time to post something new. My only suggestion would be to make occasional shorts showing your previous builds in a game (or some such) to keep your channel active. Other than that, thanks MUCH for the great content you've shared! Best wishes!
Life's short, it's Important to take time to make time for what's really important. Yes us RUclips junkies want more always lol. Real life n family is always a top priority. Ty for the explanation vid. Take some time for you also. As far as an idea what about maybe a build with some assistance from the family or friends? Like you aren't required to always be the "One DM to Craft them All" lol idk man life throws u curveballs the important thing is you keep at it. Do what brings a sense of peace to you.
My dude, first off I'm glad you and everyone is doing well and sounds like things have been a whirl wind of wOwwee. Now on to the stuff : our table is only so big and that table can only hold so much terrain so something needs to be put on the shelf, RUclips is that bit of terrain that has to be shelf-ed for a little while and its all good, I'm glad you lets us all in the loop and many of us well stick around waiting and re-watching your past stuff. Work is important and work that you love isn't work its that dream come true kinda thing family is important and spending time with your little is highly important I can tell you as a father who youngest just graduated high school this past summer time can slip by and you don't ever want to miss out on time with them. Me and others fans will wait and we are cheering for ya
@6:25 I want to hear smart creative people ramble. People that are creating good things in the D&D and RPG space. Also, I'm trying to REFINE my book collection - so I like your book reviews. Get the books that are right for my collection.
Sounds great brother! I hate how RUclips (and social media in general) has pushed creators to constantly make more and more content faster and faster. It just makes content so disingenuous and not meaningful. I appreciate your candidness and commitment to your mental/physical health and to your family and MUCH more important priorities in your life. See you when I see you man. Always enjoy your work!
Hey, you don't owe us anything. I've loved your videos, but if it slows down or if this turns out to be the end completely, thank you for everything! Your family comes first.
Soooo many of the RPG creators I follow are musicians! (i'm a drummer and bass player and I went to recording school as well) anyway...you OWE us nothing. You really don't have to tell us what you were up to. Social media is weird where we get to think we know the creators we follow. We don't. We have no idea what most creators do day to day. We just think we do. That being said, when we follow regularly we DO start to care. So if you disappear, most of are simply hoping that you're ok. And i'm really glad you are! Looking forward to whatever you do creatively in the future!
There's only 24 hours in a day, and if you blink, kids are grown and getting married! Slow down and savor life! You can't rewind, and there's no do overs! If you miss 6you miss it! My kids are 38, 36, and 34! Yesterday they were 7, 5, and 3! I wish I could have that time back, but I can't! I love them as adults, and we all have great times together, but they're not kids anymore. No one ever said at the end of their life, "I wish I'd spent more time at the office." Enjoy life and enjoy your family! They come first!
Great stuff dude! We’re hear for the future, and the priorities you followed are awesome to see. Whatever it looks like in the future, I’m gonna follow!
Real life gotta come first and the bills gotta be paid. My channel may be small but I don't worry about schedules and "I have to get a video out". I just turn the camera on when i craft and enjoy myself. The video comes out when it comes out.
Have you watched Bobby Duke? Huge channel... no schedule, just random videos of oh look, I did a cool thing! And he has millions of subscribers. I am for sure leaving notifications on so when you do make something awesome I'll be here to watch it !!!
google has cut revenues to creators to the bone. Without sponsorships and patreon, there's no profits in adsense alone. You do all the work and see none of the profits.
I get it! I’ve been there! My channel was going strong and then suddenly I find I haven’t uploaded in more than a year 😢 But I’ve continued to find tons of value from your past videos, and I’m also super excited to have learned you are also a music producer and musician! ❤️
Oh and I’ve said it before, but I love your setting the scene videos! Those videos would hopefully be less work (though I get the editing portion is still a huge commitment). But if you’re ever building out an encounter that excites you, maybe one of those could help fill out some channel content in between how busy life is. Wishing you all the best 👍

Thrilled for the professional successes! Some of my favorite channels don’t follow a strict schedule, and their excitement for the projects they share comes through. Don’t let the algorithm dictate your creativity! We, the fans, will find you!
Congrats on the success man. Stoked for the studio.
Hey, man, don’t worry. You have your priorities straight!
Good on you for balancing the things that are most important! We will all be here when you find something you really want to share with us!

Your passion for your arts (crafting, music, etc) is awesome. It's what keeps me coming back. I am willing to bet you have a patient audience. Looking forward to any videos you share when you are able.

Totally understand. Life is a busy thing . Balance is key. We will be here when you make a video for sure. 😊

Happy to see you happy and healthy. We love you.

I'm just glad you and your family are OK! I will always watch if/when you decide to make more content. You've been a wonderful inspiration.
Do what you gotta do, man! Find that balance!
You have great priorities, you do what you gotta do.
The studio looks amazing! You should be proud of the work you've done.
(BTW, D&D and disc golf are my go-to's also, haha!)
(and I'm a bass-player and arranger)
Dude! It's just great to see you back! You have to take care of living, we all understand that.

As so many said, famioy first! But additionally id love to see a walkthrough of this new studio!
We love you, man! We shall eagerly await each video, whenever it comes.

I appreciate your candidness and commitment to your mental/physical health and to your family and MUCH more important priorities in your life. See you when I see you man. Always enjoy your work!
Thank you for the update, and congratulations on so many wins for your music production career!
I missed you! I reached out to check in to make sure you were ok, and your other person let know you were ok.
Thanks for the video. I ´m glad nothing terrible happened. I going to wait until your next one. Best wishes from Germany.
Merci pour toutes tes videos...thanks to you for this video...don't change anything take the time....good work...
Videos on the studio and recording process ?
Can you tie that into DND?
Real life gotta come first and the bills gotta be paid. My channel may be small but I don't worry about schedules and "I have to get a video out". I just turn the camera on when i craft and enjoy myself. The video comes out when it comes out.
Have you watched Bobby Duke? Huge channel... no schedule, just random videos of oh look, I did a cool thing! And he has millions of subscribers. I am for sure leaving notifications on so when you do make something awesome I'll be here to watch it !!!
Hey 👋
google has cut revenues to creators to the bone. Without sponsorships and patreon, there's no profits in adsense alone. You do all the work and see none of the profits.
Before I watch I’m guessing when Matty O got hurt it stole the passion right out of you? Westside.
