In 1980, played in a tournament in college. My opponent was highly technical and fast. He thrashed me 15-4 first game. Second game he had me 6-0, but then he began laughing and snickering with his people on his side, joking etc. I was becoming furious. I changed strategies to not hit through him but resolved to clear and drop absolutely every return I could get to. I made him move up and back the entire second game. I could tell he was becoming winded. I had trained with many windsprints, and also had played water polo for the last 5 years and had just ended the college water polo season. I was in very good cardio shape but was not technical like my opponent. I beat him 16-14 second game. I resorted to continue to play my strategy and not ever give up on a shot. I was driven by anger for his disrespect of me. I won the the match game 17-15. The quote by Tim Notke always comes to mind. "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" I now thank my opponent who pushed me to overcome. My personal comeback..
14:53 - Actually, instead of 19-12 down, it was 20-13 down. LCW chased back to 20-20, then lost a point 21-20 before winning 21-23. What was worth noticing though, was that at 20-15 down (15:07), LD made a tumbling net shot (mostly known as 'lucky net shot' but trust me it was skill not luck), but LCW managed to tumble it back and won the point. In most cases a tumbled net shot will mostly win the point, so was really a big win and greatest comeback for LCW. Also, back in 2006, LD was considered the strongest together with Taufik Hidayat and LCW was just rising, not considered as the same level as LD back then.
I think it's more impressive when you hear LCW saving 7 match points again Lin Dan to win, rather than coming back from 19-12. The pressure of match point is extremely high.
I just watched another match that had an amazing comeback: Hylo Open 2021 - Men's Singles QF - Wangcharoen vs Lee Zii Jia - LZJ was down 16-6, but was able to catch up 16-17 and eventually win the second set and the match 20-22.
I watch that too... it was really nerve-racking . I thought he was going to drag to the rubber set but straight made up 11 point and win the match . A great comeback indeed 👏🏻
Well, Yixin/Xiaohan's comeback from 0-11 and 2-15 against Matsutomo/Takahashi was among the greatest comebacks I've ever seen. Although they eventually lost the match, it was worth the appreciation.
Time to add Viktor Axelsen's meltdown at Singapore Open 2019, leading 16-6 a and ending up losing 18-21 (only 2 points scored!) to his number one arch nemesis Kento Momota.
Hi Shuttle Flash, I think the greatest comeback was in the first Sudirman Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia by the legendary Susi Susanti. It was in 1989, INDONESIA VS KOREA in the final. Indonesia was by far the dominant force at those era. Indonesia won Thomas Cup (men's team) and Uber Cup (womens team) consecutively at those era. Indonesia also dominated lots of tournaments at that time. Out of 4 golds offered by badminton in 1992 olympic games, Indonesia won 2 golds and even created all Indonesian final at the men's singles final. The other 2 golds were won by China and Korea. With this era of dominance, Indonesia offered another cup named Sudirman cup with Borobudur temple on top of it. Contending mixed team of 2 singles of men and women and 3 doubles of men, women and mixed. Indonesia was confident that it will win the first sudirman cup knowing the statistics of its players. The better seeding and also host of the tournament, Indonesia, surprisingly lost the first 2 matches. In the third match, Susi played against the korean women single player, Young Suk. With pressure to turn back the situation, Susi eventually lost a very thin edge of 10~12 in the first set. In the second set, Susi was also left behind by a huge margin of 4~10. With only 1 point, the korean could have won the set, and close the 3rd match and even bring home the trophy by a convincing score 3 vs 0 against Indonesia, the host and the ultimate contender. As Susi recalled it, half of the audience who were dissapointed Indonesian supporters had left the stadium. What they expected as a glory, turned to be a humiliation at home ground. “You know, half of the audience in Istora went home. Maybe they considered it an end” Susi patiently waited for her moments to attack rather than forcing an attack just to close a point quickly. Surely, Susi was afraid of committing unforced error. The korean player was doing the opposite as she eagerly wanted to close the set, the match, and even the tournament. The Korean player was eager and rushingly attack and committed some mistakes. And Susi eventually turned it over and won the set by 12 vs 10. “After the break, I saw my opponent shed a tear as if she just cried. I heard the rumours that she just got slapped" Susi said. “I saw that as an opportunity. I kept on attacking her. That was the first time I did not give any point to my opponent. Usually, I would gave 1 or 2 points to the opponent. In the third set, I won by 11~0” Susi told. As Susi won her match, the ultimate winner should be decided to the 4th and even the 5th match, men's singles and mixed doubles. Indonesia won convincingly by straight 2 sets. And Indonesia won the first Sudirman Cup by 3 vs 2 against Korea. How a single point could have changed the history. “In my opinion, if a match is not finished, we cannot decide the winner. But it was a good victory for me!" Susi told. Badminton was contested for the first time at the olympic in 1992. Susi won the gold medal and it was the first olympic gold medal for Indonesia. In the men's singles, it was all Indonesian final and won by Alan Budikusuma. The 2 bronzes of men's singles were also Indonesian players. The 2 golds of double events were won 1 by China and 1 by South Korea. Susi later married Alan. She retired after she gave birth to her first child in late 90s. Susi was the queen of Badminton in the 90s. Oldest tournament of All england, some tournaments with “open” title, world championship, and olympic gold are just few of her achievement. She also won bronze in 1996 olympic, which made her the first badminton player to ever win 2 olympic medals.
I would have loved to see Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek vs Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati in the French open 2022 SemiFinal. Robin & Selena were 1 game, and 13-7 in the 2nd game down, but then had 14 straight points, winning the 2nd game, and then winning the third game 21-12. And then, went on to almost beat Zheng SiWei and Huang YaQiong in the final🤯
16:20 what actually happened later was... Newborn Baby Running Special, You don’t even deserve to play badminton. Lee Chong Wei maintained first place for several years several times. I know the pain of the players leading by a huge margin and suddenly the world seems crushing down! Last year I lost 11-21 in the 2nd set after leading 11-10 at half time (I already lost the 1st set) in a tournament.😊
people question lcw's mentality after he fails to win 7 world championship/olympic finals, but I often question lin dan's mentality as he throws away big leads from time to time. truly baffling

Most important of all is the coaching(in some rare cases self-coaching) which can turn the scores around. Sometimes some players just aren't allowed to win when there is a lot of money involved. 8:44 could someone please explain to me what happened here? It seems like an in for me for Lee Dong Keun? After searching for a while, it turned out it was counted as fault because Lee's racket touched the net
Here is a few badminton motive in every country. China: Then: Wow we doing good at badminton. Let's support our badminton player so we can create many badminton legend. Now: Legend will inherit, past glory is past, we must focus to create new legend. Japan: Then: It seems we are not so good at badminton, lets do what we good at first, badminton comes later. Now: My country are developed well, I'm bored, let's develop our athlete so we can compete not only in our technology, but also in sport. Indonesia: Then: We are badminton god. We must not lose to china. Now: Why are we losing? When will we have the next Susy, Taufik, Alan, Rudy? But it is okay, we were god in the past, nothing has changed since then.
Lindaweni was so charged after saving 4 match points. No doubt Indonesian fans are the most ardent supporters. Carolina Marin was so frustrated that she missed two smash. Great work by Intanon.
I think the most amazing comeback was of lin dan playing against lee cw in 2016 rio. 17-20 match point to 20-20 because it was a match point tension in Olympics . And also note the epic 20th point
I think 3rd games of 2008 Olympic QF WS between Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Saina Nehwal supposed to list-in here, how Yulianti manage to get 3-11 left from Nehwal but saving so many points and eventually win the match with stunning 21-15 💪🏻
Don't forget : 1. Jonatan Christie against Shi Yuqi in BATC 2018 Final Round. Jonatan did a comeback from 13-18 to 21-18 2. Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo had been lost the first game against Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen 7-21. They did two comebacks in the next two games. In the second game, The Minions turned up the score from 12-17 or 13-17 to 21-17. The rubber game was nearly as same as the second game. They won the third game with 21-17 advantage.
I think the BEST come back is Firman Abdul Kholik vs Lee Don Keun. Firman was 6 points deficit and was the last hope for Indonesian Team (It's a TEAM championship). Firman was under so much pressure. If he lose just one more point, his whole team will lose and can't advance to final stage. However, against all odd, he was able to make 8 points in a row and beat Lee Don Keun to make the score 3:2 and advanced to Finals and won the game.
Pas nonton linda udah pasrah aja kalah, ehhh mendekat mendekat, makin dekat penonton teriak". Disitulah pengen liat lagi pemain kita bisa mati"an pengen menang. Sekarang WS pada melas semua
hey, if this channel put all of comeback around the world like what all you guys says, this video could be 30 hour video, i think that's not good idea 😂😂

After searching for a while, it turned out it was counted as fault because Lee's racket touched the net
I want to cry because they play with their country pride on their shoulder
Here is a few badminton motive in every country.
China:
Then: Wow we doing good at badminton. Let's support our badminton player so we can create many badminton legend.
Now: Legend will inherit, past glory is past, we must focus to create new legend.
Japan:
Then: It seems we are not so good at badminton, lets do what we good at first, badminton comes later.
Now: My country are developed well, I'm bored, let's develop our athlete so we can compete not only in our technology, but also in sport.
Indonesia:
Then: We are badminton god. We must not lose to china.
Now: Why are we losing? When will we have the next Susy, Taufik, Alan, Rudy? But it is okay, we were god in the past, nothing has changed since then.
This rally (8:56) is just. Wow
Lindaweni was so charged after saving 4 match points. No doubt Indonesian fans are the most ardent supporters.
Carolina Marin was so frustrated that she missed two smash. Great work by Intanon.
Lwc memorable win is the best comeback ever
What it is Backsound ?
League of legends song

I think the most amazing comeback was of lin dan playing against lee cw in 2016 rio. 17-20 match point to 20-20 because it was a match point tension in Olympics . And also note the epic 20th point
that was crazy good!!!
Lind Dan lost that game so the comeback wasn't worth anything. Great match though!
Firman Abdul Kholik vs LEE DONG KEUN FROM 12-20 TO 22-20... WHAT A GREAT COMEBACK BY FIRMANNN
It seems like the Korean was complaining to the judge and also the coach as well who just threw the water bottle on the ground. What is going on??
@@Allonsy-tg8el because in Court 2 there is no Hawk-eye, so it's possible to just make the linesman's decision.
No
The calm, cool and collected will always win.
Not really if you're calm on badminton it means you're lazy to move
I think 3rd games of 2008 Olympic QF WS between Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Saina Nehwal supposed to list-in here, how Yulianti manage to get 3-11 left from Nehwal but saving so many points and eventually win the match with stunning 21-15 💪🏻
No
qiao b comeback was crazy, I've never seen Lin Dan have this kind of breakdown .
I was expecting Lin Dan vs Lee Ching Wei in the 1. After all who can forgot the legendary 2006 Malaysia open.
Comebacks always make the match exciting
Eh....you go make this video before Lin Dan comeback at the New Zealand open vs Jonathan Christie man
That was epic!
Don't forget :
1. Jonatan Christie against Shi Yuqi in BATC 2018 Final Round. Jonatan did a comeback from 13-18 to 21-18
Pretty sure the Jonathan comeback was due to Yuqi injuring himself on court- again
No, Indonesia who
Maria Kristin yulianti vs saina nehwal 3-11 to 21-15 QF Olympic 2008
I think the BEST come back is Firman Abdul Kholik vs Lee Don Keun. Firman was 6 points deficit and was the last hope for Indonesian Team (It's a TEAM championship). Firman was under so much pressure. If he lose just one more point, his whole team will lose and can't advance to final stage. However, against all odd, he was able to make 8 points in a row and beat Lee Don Keun to make the score 3:2 and advanced to Finals and won the game.
No, LD n LCW better
Where is Maria Kristin Yulianti comeback vs Saina Nehwal at Beijing Olympic QF? 3-11 in the decider

PV sindhu in wc 2019 against tai tzu ying and saina nehwal in commonwealth 2010 finals against mew choo wong
Hi Shuttle Flash. Tien Minh ( Viet Nam ) vs Kashyap ( India ) R32 world champion 2011 . when Tien Minh is lead 15-20. he went up and won. 22-20
