That’s amazing. I’m 34 and my uncle introduced these guys to me when I was 19. Almost have the entire collection of vinyl all original. Very hard to find. Best band ever. Can’t believe they never went huge.
If this isn’t heavy enough!!! I don’t what is!!! Budgie will live on forever as one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time! Rest In Peace, Burke Shelly & John Thomas.
i have been into so many great rock bands from the 70's and never heard of Budgie until about 6 months ago and they rock, how the f..k can that be, they are fantastic. I am a mere 55 years old, something seriously went wrong with Budgie's marketing. Thanks youtube, started with Breadfan and am still learning....
I'm a 70 rocker seen a lot concerts and still go and listened to what I thought was all the bands in the 70s but never this one! Wow how did that happen? I'm listening for the first time. I like it. 🔥
@@johnthonig8832 Very true. I don't recall much of a fuss in the publications of the day like Sounds. Must ask Geoff Barton who is still going strong in Classic Rock it looks like.
Classic, the most under rated heavy band, ever. Seen them so many times, lost count, from local gigs in Cardiff pubs to bigger venues. Class heavy stuff, even Metallica covered them.
Was listening to Volbeat on Spotify, the Neil Fallon guest spot lead me to Clutch (unheard before) and somehow I was reminded of Budgie but couldn't remember which track of theirs I loved so much (I was 13 when this was released) it's not on Spotify, it was this one, love it!
Had this on LP as a kid I grew up on this kind of stuff I’m my local area we had a rock show on the radio every weekend and I heard so many bands before they took off and made it big it’s unreal.
GUNSLINGER what a tune EPIC.....Saw this live 40 odd years ago when they toured with the Nightflight album they supported Ian Gillan n fkn blew them off stage 😎
Gunslinger Budgie He stepped out through the door Long face with a Stetson on Hero of suicide, stepped into the light He stood ready to fight I called don't go It's not the way that a man should go, No, stand back and let it ride You've already died, said you've already died It's that bad feeling inside, yeah Aiming low, he followed his hand Gunslinger pose, classic stance Bad glamour dream, into the sand He fell to the floor And he won't fight no more He can't help being a bore
Metalica, Van Halen, Megadeth, Iron Maiden,Soundgarden and many more did Budgie covers live or in the studio! I first heard Budgie in 1977, before Metallica was even formed... was lucky enough to see them live in Houston in 1979, but Tony Bourge had already left the band.
Just pisses me these guys didn't get the air play.I mean NOT to be commercialized ,just so some people could have heard of them more.for about three decades ,I onlty knew Breadfan because of Metallica.THANKFULLY youtube is still around..xoxo
Probably. Budgie were a great and influential band. I was 15 when this came out and had their album Power Supply. Gunslinger is my favourite track on the album. Another of my favourites of theirs is Breadfan, which is on their album Never Turn Your Back on a Friend. Metallica did a good cover of Breadfan but I will always prefer the original.
I love the build up in this song, but I think this song should end at 2 minutes. I think the guitar solo beyond doesn't match the western feel leading up to that point.
Fuck you, you ain't got no soul. I'm lucky enough to heard this live on the 1980 UK album tour. I maybe old but what a fucking moment when they played this as the encore.
How blessed I am to have seen these guys about 5 times. They were just astonishing live!
I saw them once at Bar Cuba in Macclesfield early 2000's. Unbelievably good.

One of the undiscovered great heavy band from the seventies.
So many don't even know who they are...absolutely brilliant band

still standing up in 2020
You know you gotta press rewind ..wow
kick ass song!
the best Budgie song, definitely my favorite from this album. Just for 2:45 riffs and solos.
Gunslinger
Budgie
He stepped out through the door
Long face with a Stetson on
Hero of suicide, stepped into the light
He stood ready to fight
I called don't go
It's not the way that a man should go,
No, stand back and let it ride
You've already died, said you've already died
It's that bad feeling inside, yeah
Aiming low, he followed his hand
Gunslinger pose, classic stance
Bad glamour dream, into the sand
He fell to the floor
And he won't fight no more
He can't help being a bore
Brilliant thanks for posting

@Steve Zubal budgie never sold out man. they're the real deal the truth the way and the light
Zayonne took the riff from 2:59 for her single "The Last Hangover in Akambitou Park"
My Brother still has this L.P i think.
Furious
If this song was a tiny bit slower it would have an awesome southern rock vibe on it!
Molly hatchet vibe yes
20 years beforeHatchet...do your homework @@StaraMrcina
Luckily they didn’t and it stayed as good old fashioned British heavy rock
This goes well with RDR
John Thomas and Randy Rhodes were very close mates. Both brilliant but interesting to think about their common basis...
I wonder if The Cult ever heard this Singer and his delivery in this song 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

who did Metallica cover? BUDGIE!!
Dave Mustaine sent me.
The ORIGINAL FIRST HEAVY METAL band :) don't believe? Ask Ozzie, and then ask Metallica, James knows his roots :)
