This could have been avoided by waiting to assemble the elements on-site. To be honest, I wouldn't have even delivered it the way it looked _before_ it left the bakery. The fondant looked like sweating cheese, there was no dimension to the "court floor," the lettering on the backboard was a mess while the lettering on the front of the cake looked like a 5-year old could have spaced them better. It's painful to say all of this; Carlo's is wonderful but they really dropped the ball this time when it _should_ have been a slam-dunk. (Sorry, I couldn't help myself).
I’ve seen some “Is it cake?” Cakes that look more realistic than this😭

I'm really disappointed in the way this cake looks.
I had to watch because the cover made the cake look like it was covered in cheese slices.

What kinda cake is that 😂! I can make this and charge a lot less! A beginner baker could make this cake as their first cake ever and it be a lot cleaner than what you delivered! That doesn’t look like a basketball court at all! No hardwood, no keys, no half court nothing! This is a total fail!!! 😢
After watching several of these clips of Bobby’s cakes.. i just don’t understand what’s so special about them.. they all seem very CHEAP & poorly made. They are ALL made out of fondant that just looks terrible. I’m sure any simple bakery can make cakes exactly like this if not better. Why did Bobby get a whole show about these simple fondant cakes?
Show came out in the 2000s. Crazy cakes were fairly new at the time so it’s understandable as to why they look outdated by today’s standards, cake making and decorating has come a long way but at the time these were considered unique and out there.

I had a full size 3-D replica basketball cake done too and it also fell in transport.
I never understand why they put icing on the wood
Take the wood backboard and net away, and it's just a rectangular cake with steamed fondant.
I like the way it looks at the end better actually.
Didn't they use to put people in the back? I remember early Cake Boss episodes showed someone holding it up in the back to make THIS didn't happen.

I love red velvet cake. For my birthday last year I had red velvet but instead of cream cheese, they put mascarpone cheese it was amazing.😉❤️🇨🇦

Don’t get me wrong, I love the cake. But why didn’t they just make the BB on the floor and make it cake. Because having it on the top with the bottom being made foam and the top cake. Idk if they knew, but foam is not that supportive. But hey they fixed it and it looked great. Just wish they would have thought of putting the BB on the ground and making it all cake (expert the hoop and back board.)
