You are a very good teacher! So much better than other drum channels that jabber on about nothing. Plus you put up the music notation! Why can't everyone on RUclips be like you?
Great video! I'm new at drums and while I can come up with basic beats to practise, I didn't really know where to start with fills without making it too difficult too soon. This really helped.
🤯 I was JUST talking to my drum instructor about having a hard time moving around the kit and he said it’s because I don’t practice my rudiments enough, I’ve just been imitating what I hear in songs I cover. He’s right, I can cover many songs but I have ZERO chops or creativity to coming up with my own fills. Back to the basics I go!
Playing a song well is way more important than all the chops in the world.. But if you want to have some chops it is always good to check out some rudiments ;-)
Good on ya, Lisa! I don't always punctuate fills with a big crash on my right. I often like to end a fill with a double-right on the floor tom when I want to come down heavy on the cymbal to my left. Being smooth with my paradiddles makes that possible. There are so many cool things you can do with paradiddles. Try working up a clean relationship between your kick and your snare, with straight 8ths on the ride. When you feel comfortable with that, drop the straight 8ths and ride on the upbeats (the "ands") instead. It'll be a near-religious experience.
Thanks for the videos dude! I just started playing the drum and your videos are perfect. They are challenging but I am able to play every groove/fill within an hour of practice. A perfect daily drum lesson so to say!
Another well played session. Nice to see the ways in which rudiments can be played in realistic musical settings. I’m sure most drummers will play in these time feels. Doing all the flashy 32nd notes needs band musicians of a very high standard otherwise it sounds like .... a drummer with a band.😀 An intelligent video.
You are right. Easy is always a stupid word to throw around. If you are not used to use the Paradiddle on the drum set this is far away from easy. But keep working on it. It is really worth it!
It is so great that you fulfilled that wish. I currently have a student who ist 50 years old and started playing a year ago. He just started his own band and really is making great progress.
@@DailyDrumLesson I am very shy about sharing my progress with drums cause Ill always get one guy say thats easy or anyone can do that if I am finding somethinf hard lol
Hey Mickey, I love Your videos and the value of their education. You are one of the best teachers on RUclips. I see You are playing Evans UV1 Drumheads. What is Your opinion of them. Great Job and keep the videos coming.
Hello Larry. First of all, thank you so much for your nice words. A comment like this really makes my day and makes me want to push even harder, to put out the best content I possibly can! I use lots of different heads and since I work in a drum shop I test most new heads on the market to give an informed feedback to the customers. The big plus of the UV1 heads is the durability. The coating lasts much longer than the normal G1 / Ambassador coating and is especially nice for playing brushes, since they sound great out of the box. What I didn't like about them was that they didn't sound that great in a lower tuning, but the higher you tune them the better they sound. This is of course totally subjective, but I hoped it helped. :-)
Love your videos. Straight forward en clearly explained. Well done. I can see reasons why I could use the paradiddle in some of the orchestrated fills your demonstrating, but with a lot of them (still talking the orchestrated ones) it would still be possible to use alternating strokes though. I guess whether to go with paradiddles or alternating strokes would be a drummers' personal decision? For me personally, I'm thinking why make things more complicated then they have to?
Thanks for this Also 👇 God LOVES YOU so MUCH that He sent His only son to die in YOUR PLACE so you won't have to die under Gods judgement but live forever IF you fully trust in Jesus Repent from thinking wickedness

You are thinking exactly right. Never use a sticking if you can play the same thing with an easier sticking.

Great lesson as always. Your snare sounds great. It's that Premier dominion ACE?
Danke
Thanks for checking it out. That is not a Premier Snare. It is a Ludwig Supraphonic 14x6.5
Evans UV1 on snare and Toms ? ;)
Set klingt spitze!
Yeah, ich danke dir!
Is that a Ludwig Supra snare?
Yes it is.
Something nice...
What's that in your ear
Why not do it in a standard 5 piece kit ???
Haven't played a5 piece in years.. Just like the 4 piece.
Hey Michi, where do you come from? Are you a German drummer?

Haha, thank you. Got it from Ikea and you can buy different colored covers for it, so you could change if you get tired of it.
