we only own few kitchen items too. it prevents from piling up the sink with dishes! to choose one as my favorite, would be the muji silicone spoon. it didn't melt even after using it so many times for cooking and the edges are flexible to scoop everything. best for those who need alternative for wood cooking tools since it has to be proper maintained too. :) this is really nice video! more like this please. :D hmm, how about collection of eco-friendly things that worked for you? :)
@@Everydaykaen I second the cast iron pan recommendation! I was initially intimidated by the maintenance involved, but the learning curve is actually pretty low and the performance keeps getting better over time! This video is a God sent! I’m currently moving to my first apartment and I’m leaning towards a more minimalist lifestyle and currently listing kitchen items to get as those are the ones that accumulates the most. Especially different sizes of pots, knives, spoons, etc. This is very helpful and my guide to buying new kitchen items for my new apartment.
I am somewhere between wanting to be a minimalist and leave room for a lot of creativity and canning my own food, etc. I am recently moved from a big house to a small apartment and so I need to functionally downsize what I have to only what I truly use and make more sense of it.
I love your perspective on minimalist I feel like a lot of people misread the meaning of minimalism there is no list you can follow on how to be a minimalist because it's different for every persion
The handle doesn’t get too hot to handle. Nice pun! My slow cooker is my favorite kitchen item. My parents got it in the 1980s but never used it so they gave it to me. I love that I can start a dish in the morning and have it ready when I get home from work.
This piece is a standout; much like a book that stood out for its unique and innovative treatment. "The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Living Guide" by Matthew Cove
Our family's knife and chopping board is probably just as old as me, and they're still going strong. My parents were gifted Corelle tableware for their wedding, and we're still using them too - so they're definitely older than me!
@@sunrae7680 I have a very pretty iris patterned Corelle, but I hate when it shatters into smithereens, once its gone, I.m not getting more, but use it in my RV, doesn't take up much space.
What a delightful series to start! I especially loved how HL demonstrated how she uses each essential tool- the visuals really sold each product, and I kept peeking at the description box for links. I’ve been primarily using plastic/bamboo cutting boards myself, but your IKEA wooden cutting boards look so tempting 🤔
I have a Dansk Dutch oven that was my mom’s (it’s from the ‘70s). Glass two-cup Pyrex measuring cup. Kitchen scale. Chef’s knife. Blender. Electric can opener. Electric kettle. Nested steel bowls with handles. Cutting boards. Wooden utensils.
I am always curious about how many of each thing are enough. For example how many towels, sheets, socks, etc. does someone need and how do they arrive at that number? I am not interested in getting the number rock bottom, but want to arrive at enough with no excess.
I bake so my stainless steel mixing bowls would be on my list. They're lightweight, easy to care for, and I've had them about 7 years already. I like a chef's knife and a bread knife. And my bread machine for bread, fruitloaf, and pizza dough - partly for time's sake and also because I'm terrible at kneading. I like our butcher's block rather than a lightweight chopping board, and have a favourite wooden spoon. I have a collection of 5 pans/pots (with lids) and some baking trays. My frying pan is carbon steel and easy to care for. Otherwise I prefer stainless steel because its easy to clean and lasts forever. Also a stick blender is better for me than a stand blender because I share a kitchen. Kitchenware is a bit of a weakness for me XD
Would love to see a video on household cleaning products you use. :) Also curious, do you do anything different to clean the cutting board if you cut meat?
Hello! I’ve been watching your channel and loving your vibes. .. when did you “upgrade “ (?) to your Midori pans with the detachable handles? Are you still using them or?
I love your video! 1 question? What are the cons of having your open kitchen? Especially when you are cooking, does it dirty your whole house badly? Any other cons?
Hey thanks! :) The most obvious con would be the smell in our case. But we can simply close the doors of our rooms and don't find it to be a problem. Our cooking isn't that heavy so it also doesn't dirty our place too badly.
I need to minimize kitchen utensils uh…I love my OXO cooking 🧑🏻🍳 spoon it’s lasted a long time, also my Sur La Table spatulas big and mini, also my Staub pot. I will soon toss my non stick pan as you say they don’t last long. Baby steps
I'll be checking out the brands you mentioned! 🙌 Regarding non-stick; I actually don't think I'm ready to fully commit to switching to carbon steel, so I'll still be using non-stick for now 😅
Having the proper storage organiser and multi-function utensils/tools definitely help so much for a minimalist kitchen. I personally have used a certain multipurpose item for over a decade and it has helped me save time and make healthier ingredients from scratch. Loved this one so much. So calming 🤗 My personal favorites are my skillet and chef's knife. I'm not the best cook but they get the job done for the little dishes I can make without burning my house down 😂 What kind of oil do you use to maintain your cutting boards?
my favorite kitchen items are also knives and little tables for chop. I think that buy a good knife it´s better than buy several in a year, but don´t has to be an expensive purchase, just a good one uwu. Also, i love your videos and i'm really happy to watch the awesome progress of taking good photos, definitely i will check out the skillshare platform!!

A cast iron pan or wok is a must if you fry a lot. They are heavy but really easy to maintain. And they are long lasting for life
We've heard lots of good things about a cast iron pan!
lol can relate to parents stocking up on cooking utensils. there are about 3 households’ worth in my storeroom.
😂😂
Oh yes! At one point, my Mum was buying and bringing home at least one pot or fry pan each week - until I threatened to cut off her allowance 😂
typical asian problem i have multiple pans as well
1. knife
2. small knife
3. cutting board
4. stainless steel frying pan
5. saucepan
6. cooking utensils, spatula, wooden spoon
7. plates

Where did you get that organiser board on the wall?
It’s from IKEA. Other items seen in our videos can be found on thoughtworthy.co/favorites

Multicooker, frying pan, steamer, ceramic knives ❤

We replaced our old non-stick pans with the Modori set earlier this year, and yes they are still being used in our kitchen! :)

what cutting board oil do you use?
We are using SKYDD mineral oil from IKEA. Hope this helps!
what kinds of oils do we have to put on the boards?? thanks!!!
We use food grade mineral oil, and that has worked well for us!
I love the mood of your videos 🥰

I have a big metal pot with steamer. You can use it for soups, pasta, steaming, as a colander, almost anything
We have a big metal pot too, getting a steamer insert for it would seem like a good idea! 💡
