So sad to see the condition of the Centre. once upon a time it was like paradise. life was so happy and the everything was above average. The founder President of the Centre (Ama Lhacham Kusho) who had served tirelessly for the welfare of the people and also tried her level best to preserve the Tibetan Culture, despite not being a Tibetan she selflessly worked very hard. it is very sad now a days people are not willing to work in this Centre, due to poor administration. Honestly everyone is responsible after the demise of Ama Lhacham Kusho. CTA was willing to take the responsibility of this Centre but some heads are totally contrary to this and they manipulated the innocent people and the result what see today is the fact of the matter. Today life would be difference and the conditions would be much better if this Centre was handed over to the Tibetan Govt in Exile (CTA).

I am from Kerala. I am very interested in Tibetan culture and rich traditions. Last year I visited Darjeeling but I couldn’t visit any Tibetan refugee centre. But if I get an opportunity to visit Darjeeling again I will visit this centre definitely

I’m not elderly but I actually know how to make carpets. My dad used to own such business n I spent my childhood spare time there against my parents will lol Those size of single bed can complete in a week. To continue the tradition n keeping the Tibetan skill alive exile govt should wake up n create this skills as a part of curriculum activities. Definitely some would show interest. Not all kids are born to excel academically. Some are born with great on handson skills. Before skilled n experienced elderlies dies, their skill should pass on. Wake up exile PM n his three dolma las … time to show multi tasking

I have lived there for long Managment and Manager Ganda is corrupted. Why are people leaving because they want to occupy and want young Tibetan to leave. Another reason Young Tibetans are leaving is because even when your parents work in TRC for all their lives, once their parents pass away, they kick out the children as young as 12 or 13 years old.

The main reason why people are leaving this place is because of very poor income. Those people who weave the carpet are paid only 500 Rupees a month that was in 2009-2011. Even if you are lab technician at their clinic, they were being paid like 1200 rupees. Along with salary they would get free small room as accommodations and some groceries like rice and dal. They got shared public toilet which was very dirty. That’s why ladies would do the business on the side of food path in the dark. Some old people need to climb down some steps outside to fetch water. The main issue is lack of health support. I know one Amala who weaved for more than 40 years and finally became MDR tuberculosis patient. Now the cost of treating MDR TB was like 100000-150000 rupees. When asked assistance from Tibetan Refugee Self Help center office, they politely refused. In the end CTA’s health department and Delek Hospital came to her rescue. I think VOT didn’t cover the whole situation there. People over there dare to speak against these openly as the center is run by His Holiness’s brother. His Holiness is an enlightened being, but brother isn’t. I think this center should be handed over to CTA’s home department.

For your kind information, the founder President of this Centre was Late Lhacham Kusho, wife of Mr Gyalo Thondup, elder brother of His Holiness. She selflessly run this Centre not by His Holiness's brother. You have been mistaken because I was grown up in this Centre.

I wonder what is our exile govt doing about Tibetan shrinking population without replacing Himalayan population in Tibetan institutions. I have been noticing this for years but I don’t see any move from our exile govt!!!tibetan shrinking population will have huge impact on Tibetans core issues n struggle. Is exile govt not going to encourage remaining population to have more kids providing them with more benefits. Also creating multiple platform for single Tibetans to meet opposite gender. If not creating an opportunity to meet young Tibetans more often to interact. Exile govt must stop relying on population of other nationalities although we follow the same religion bc Tibet struggle is our own struggle no one else
