"Rock" has become so ridiculously broad with all of its subgenres (and even subgenres of those subgenres); in my experience, when people talk about "rock" without any subgenres tacked on, they're usually talking about classic or hard rock...especially in the context of a hard rock band like Wolfmother. I'm not gonna argue about who's "better", but all three of those bands have a very different sound, to the point that I'd never think of them if somebody asked for good rock bands (maaaybe The Strokes, but not in this context), and there's a very good chance that somebody who likes Wolfmother would be completely uninterested in them (although anybody who doesn't like The Strokes is just straight up incorrect)

I know this group from a handful of songs. First I discover them in NFS Carbon, then in an episode of the House MD series, and by recommendation I have listened to Pyramid. I didn't even know who they were, to be honest, but they remind me of Ozzy Osbourne's early days. It turns out that they are from the 2000s and have sounds of hard rock from the 70s. It's nice to find musicians and bands like that, and to know that not everything is contaminated with Trap and Reggaeton.

My memory of this song will always be forever marred by the guitarist of my band circa 2006 making fun of a local Wolfmother cover group by shouting "OUR NAME'S [REDACTED] OUR DRUMMER SINGS; WE PLAY WOLFMOTHER" and starting the most haggard, sausage fingered rendition of the intro riff...it never failed to make me struggle to stay on my seat between the laughter and tears.
