The Terra's image is "nice" and "sharp." Are there any current reviews of binoculars that say anything different?

It's strange seeing a Zeiss product come in a plastic box with a $5 accessories.
A nice binocular but the rest can be thrown right out.

if you want to purchase a good pair of binoculars go to a real store and try and compare a lot of models.. forget about reviews.. recently I purchased a 10x25 terra ED made in China after comparing more than 12 different brands including Kowa, Vortex, Nikon and many more.. the only one with similar sharpness was a Minox but it was less luminous... If it were for reviews I would have acquired the wrong model.

Besides the 8x25 all other ones on Terra line are made in China. Pay for the name. Many better options out there not made in China and cheaper.

For pocket line in same price range either 8x25 or 10x25 look at the Kowa 8 or 10x25BD. Better, brighter and not made in China.

I have the Kowa Genesis Bino 10x33. I preferred it even over the Swarovski 10x30 EL. Excellent glass and I even fell 15 feet from a tree with them and not a scratch. A little heavy but made like a tank. For the Kowa binos read Richard Costins review. He even talks about the Kowa 10x25bd.

I have just had to return (not from Optics Trade btw) a 10x25 Terra ED as it was absolutely rubbish sadly. Very poor optics. Blurry image i.e. no sharpness basically, low light i.e. dull transmission and l heaps of purple fringing. Mechanically fine but about the same size as my much better 10x30 Nikon M7 so very underwhelmed with that particular sample. I expect the 8x25 should be better? I do have a Zeiss Victory Pocket in 8x25 and that is thankfully excellent. So one is excellent and the other total horrible useless rubbish (black Terra 10x25 version made in China) which is quite a difference that I wasn't expecting. Maybe just a bad sample but it obviously passed inspection, that's if there was any I suppose but it definitely should not have a Zeiss badge on it.

I have Terra ED 8x25 gray-blue (China version - with hard case) - its excellent anyway, sharp, crisp and bright. I cannot compare it to Japan version (which i suspect will be better) but even China version more sharp than my Monarch 7 10x30...
