Brother, your analyses of these videos so far have been so spot on and eye opening. You are pointing out so many details I hadn't noticed the first time around and It's incredibly entertaining seeing your perspective and interpretations :D
The dessert scene is set in Shurima, another country/continent across a small sea from where Ambessa was raised and frequently visited as a child. The blue skinned people represent Lamb, the black feathered guys are Wolf. In Shurima there is balance between the two but in Noxus, only the Wolf is valued (die fighting and never give up). Ambessa has to give up her innocence to survive both literally fighting Wolf and figuratively with being a Noxian. She chose Wolf in her past and Wolf choses her once she proves herself worthy in combat with him. Basically you got everything right, as usual. You're way too good at your job. When she's in her ink skin, she's fighting Wolf like Tryndamere was actually fighting the warriors in "Still Here". The gold armor guy she's fighting is Pantheon and is likely just in her head, and parallels Wolf and Lamb being in Tryndamere's head. His story doesn't seem to have any relation to Ambessa and is probably just to sell a skin, however, he was once the aspect of war (something Noxian's love) so she could know of him and that's why Wolf took on his form to challenge her. The other two characters in the background are Swain on the left and Katarina on the right, mostly there just to sell skins. Unlike pantheon, they're both Noxian although, they all have had near death experiences and while it's never explicitly stated, they could have had similar encounters with Wolf, won and now Wolf can use them as an avatar to challenge others. The skin line was called Chosen of the Wolf so it tracks but isn't definitive, just my head cannon so it isn't just about the skins. Kindred doesn't have a bow because in Noxus, dying by combat is a great honor. Lamb never gets to shoot her arrow because no one excepts death. As you noted earlier, every region/culture has their own mythos of Kindred and it changes how they appear and operate around the world. Kindred's ult in game is Lamb's Respite which grants immortality to anyone inside a small radius for a few seconds. The artifact the Lamb offers is that ult as a reward for not backing down against Wolf. The blue portions are her in the present remembering different aspects of her life (life flashing before her eyes, including the future). The first is her one day being the head of a powerful Noxian house, the second is her giving up her peaceful innocence for ambition and the last was her as a child first learning of death while picking up swords of the fallen after a battle. That was 100% Mel but the explanation spoils season 2 of arcane so rewatch this part after you've finished it.
Another thing from the noxus Kindred lore is that its that lamb is there to lead people to wolf, so they don’t believe in lamb as we know her but she still technically serves a purpose.
I don’t know much at all tbh😂 just going off of comments from my still here video! The only lore I really know is from the other cinematics and context clues🤠
So to add something fresh to the conversation I want to discuss the champions featured in the "death realm". My cannon with them being "Chosen of the Wolf" I read them as having "ascended" in a way and Ambessa would have done the same as she passed their trial, but the child she was carrying brought back her will to fight death for the moment and survive for that child.
Same. Other reactors I've noticed seem to miss that Ambessa is making a sacrifice. Specially during the ritualistic dancing, that she is mourning a loss of any sort of peace or innocence. When I saw that, I immediately went "Welp, she's not going to have a happy ending." heh. Ugh, just yeah, so many powerful emotions.
I played LoL a lot and they put out some amazing staff. On the other hand i have never played WoW, and the war within cinematic trailer really impressed me - highly recommend.
The first time I watched this, I didn't even realize the sounds of those weapons. They could totally just hide it under the music, but nah, all the real sound
What a good analysis! Well done. I noticed two things in this music video. The Fortiche studio, which produced Arcane and this video, never chooses an image, a shot, a scene without reason or reference. These people never make something beautiful just to look beautiful (which would already be incredible), but bring another level of reading. The last scene where we see Ambessa on the beach contemplating his defeat is located at the foot of the cliffs of Etretat. In a novel by Maurice Leblanc (the creator of Arsène Lupin), the stone needle of Etretat hides a secret which allowed Caesar and William the Conqueror to invade England. Napoleon failed because he did not know the secret of the needle. Three warlords like Ambessa. The theme of the wolf and the lamb obviously refers to Jean de la Fontaine's tale "The Wolf and the Lamb" where a merciless wolf devours a lamb that he has wrongly accused. A tale of moral teaching for the King of France Louis XIV. The tale begins with "the reason of the strongest is always the best" a statement denied in the rest of the tale. In Arcane, Ambessa justifies her actions by this very questionable philosophy: "a wolf has no mercy". The level of writing and direction is breathtaking.
No Arcane S2 spoilers: If I'm not mistaken, in noxus they don't believe in the lamb in Noxus. They don't believe in peacful death, hence why she only sees the wolf in the "death realm". I also think it's Mel who we see in the womb. She seems to have some "golden" powers and it might be one of the reasons that Kindred let her live but I'm just guessing. She sees worth in letting her live, that's why the wolf left her in the last scene after Mel awakened.
What I like about this version of Kindred from this trailer is that it really shows a lot about noxians. While basic kindred is still intimidating Lamb in her normal form from basic skin is actually pretty smal. I think she is not even 5 foot tall lore wise. But this version from this trailer is at least 7 foot tall. Just towering over mortals. It makes so much sense that in Noxus even the representation of peaceful death is so intimidating.
1. I don't know what's going on in the desert, but I am pretty sure the sacrificing of the lamb shows how she will never accept death without a fight. 2. The blue realm is her past and future. Interestingly enough, it goes from the future to the past. 3. Her fight against the Spearman is her test to be accepted into the Noxus version of Valhalla, and her new look shows that she got accepted. 4. After getting accepted, she remembered that she is pregnant and needs to live, so she rejects the afterlife she earned to stay alive and keep on fighting fighting.
Is there a reason your reaction videos occasionally drop sharply in frame rate but not your cam? Other than that, love the reactions, your eye for detail is immaculate, and you pick up details that actual league players commonly miss. It's a pleasure to watch.
A bit part of me is actually kinda glad your not gonna watch the Lore videos because your analysis of these cinematics with no prior research is so amazing and accurate and enlightening in it's own way.
I appreciate the support🤠 I know its not an overly popular choice as I got at least 20+ comments telling me to check out or react to this one persons lore channel but I really don’t want to ruin the discovery element of it! Of course after doing enough of these I’ll just naturally become a lore guy but I’ll try to prolong the inevitable😂
thb, I think I was one of the ones who recommended them, but appreciate you want to come to understand the lore through the cinematics - you've been doing a stellar job, even bringing to light more symbolism and depth than black and white text can
As far as lore goes, Necrit has two videos analyzing it (one made before a short story about Ambessa was put in Riot's website, one after, where he corrected himself based on that story's information), and both struggle to fully understand everything presented. The entire video is, in a real sense, a fever dream, so it's really hard to make it "make sense". The battle with Death (the Wolf) is fairly self-explanatory (and fairly easy to grok if you know anything about Noxian culture), but other aspects (particularly the desert scenes) are much more tenuous. Even with specific elements that you have to be a major lore nerd to even know about (ie: Necrit, not me), it's a struggle to know if they were really intended that way, or if it's just coincidence.
@@ShatteredFocusProductions Yes! Also in storytelling it feels a lot more intriguing to not be told everything, to be given hints and ideas about the underlying concepts. That's why I think they want to be ambiguous to a certain degree, keeping things, especially greater concepts, a bit of a mystery. I even like the idea that they aren't even distinctly defined but have fuzzy edges representing the edge of human understanding. Loved your reactions, dude, you're doing a phenomenal job and every video is every second worth the wait!
yuo where half right, first in noxus they fight for a honorable death so in their culture the wolf is well recibe and at the same time they reject the lamb , the two different afterlife that you mention are actually her hopes of what she can become ( the gold one ) the blue is her regret (kinda) the statue of the child with the lamb represent Mel and her inocense because she haven't born so she doesn't have a choice over her death or life ( kinda ) the desert is practically a ritual where she is giving the lamb ( a pecefull death ) to the wolf for her to be able to live again and for Mel, doing these means that she is accepting that when she died she will embrace the wolf ( a brutal dead ) with open arms. Hope it helps to understand a bit more
@ShatteredFocusProductions also from what people told me. Since Noxus people worship wolf as their death. So wolf was there instead of lamb. They told me the thing lamb giving her is kinda like a choice. The fight was like a test, and she passed it. She has the choice of embracing dead and standing with other warriors or continuing to live. The reason the choice was presented to her is because unlike Tryndamere, her life and death are on her hand, so it's her choice to die or not. And for me, i think the Mel scene is like a nail to Ambessa with how Ambessa looks like she just remembered about her baby. So she chose live instead.
I might be reaching but I don't believe it's Kindred. Ambessa's title is the Wolf of Noxus and what we see are her trials, maybe past and future. The men in black in the desert look like ravens and Swain, the general of noxus is represented by a raven. I believe we see her trials to get accepted in a society where only the strong survive.
It's definitely Kindred. The whole skin line is called Chosen of the Wolf and features champions who avoided death, not to mention that the Lamb's literally one of the characters in the video. Ambessa sacrifices the Lamb statue and accepts the Wolf trinket, meaning she chose a violent death over a peaceful one. I mean, your theory has merit, no one said there can't be more interpretations, but the one with Kindred is the one the video is based on.

Noxus is a land of warriors dying peacefully in your bed is not what they are interested in, so the lamb doesn't even carry her bow because it is not her job to deliver death to Noxians, she only exists to lead people to the wolf.
In Noxian lore the state of Noxus is always invading new territories because the original homeland of Noxus was unsuitable for farming etc (a bit like Viking history in that regard with their expansion to the rest of Europe). As such there are people from various parts of Runeterra within the Noxian empire. The Noxian motto is "Kill them until they are family". Ambessa was originally from the desert region of Shurima where Noxus have a stronghold in the North of the region. In Noxus once you are part of the empire you are equal no matter where you are from hence why Ambessa's family was able to become so powerful within the system.
