I'd be doing a disservice after hearing your struggles with depression and emotional numbness, if I didn't recommend Mahalia Jackson's Lord Don't Move The Mountain...she is the Queen of Gospel. But this song is truly something I listen to get strength to go through my struggles. First heard it in Church, then heard Mahalia sing it. Hi Jay that's really sweet ill listen to it but as I said in my video, I doesn't really matter what the music is, it just doesn't resonate with me when I'm like this. I feel numb. It's not a case of having a bad day for me. My brain actually isn't functioning properly. It will pass, it always does, but it really knocks me out when it hits. Sucks all the colour out of life

Hello there Charlie. I’m one of Dimash’s Dears who found her way here with you quite randomly. I want to thank you for introducing me to this beautiful singer. I’d never heard her before. Is she from the UK?
I also want to applaud your honesty. As someone who has had inpatient care for severe depression I recognise your description of the numbness, and the experience of getting well and finding the return of feeling to be both amazing and overwhelming at the same time. I was so dead inside that I couldn’t cry at all for about two years. It’s always hard, the decision to mention mental health or not, but it’s only through people talking such as yourself that it can get easier to tell these things. I’m admiring the straightforwardness and simplicity with which you described it all, and I want to say thanks.
I also want to ask you to react to Dimash singing Daybreak at his Bastau concert, but I will warn you that this is one of his songs that regularly reduces people to tears. It’s so poignant, based on a true story of parents who sacrificed themselves to save their two year old. It is one of Dimash’s most powerful performances, he sings the song as if he were the child himself, and he holds nothing back. It’s brilliant, it’s beautiful and it’s another totally different type of performance again, as different as Olympico is. It will again leave you stunned at Dimash and his ability to own a song, whatever demands it asks from the singer.

No Jazmine is from the US. She has my heart completely and can do things to my soul that no one else can do. It's funny isn't it how certain artists just have a special key to your soul and its different for everyone. That's what makes music so magical.
I think that Dimash song is on my list actually. It sounds intense. I can imagine it will make me emotional as I'm adopted so I'm sure there will be parallels there.

That’s a beautiful song. I love the lilting piano runs in the intro and the lightness of the first verse. She has a lovely voice. I’ve not listened to this style of singing before. It got harder for my brain as it got more complex, I think it’s like Jazz (no pun!) in that it has its own riffs and keys and scales and it takes a while to get your ear in. There was almost too much input to process! Thank you for the link.
Daybreak is intense. There’s an extra bit of backstory. The parents died in a cable car accident in China in 1999. The singer Han Hong wrote the song following as the story of the orphan became known. The twist is that she later ended up adopting the little boy. So yes, I think it may especially resonate with you. It’s a stunning performance. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched it, and never yet have I not HAD to watch to the end. It’s mesmerising. I hope you will like it.
