Fantastic video as always! Hopefully you can generate enough hype to revive this franchise, every other horror classic is getting dusted off these days, it's time for Siren to get the same treatment.
Because of both of you alls videos I've made an effort to play the more hidden ones. Thanks for everything and thanks for making quality videos that I can listen to while working in a car factory.
No. Way. I was just sharing your video a couple days ago with some friends who didn't know the siren series. I'm so happy to see you go over the second piece. :)
Dude I just came to say this! Shared this to my girlfriend, saw a new upload and got so giddy! I’m not a fan of horror, but coverages and games like these always peeks my curiosity!
So in regards to Yorito’s ending and how it relates to Kyouya’s I think they are given similar roles in exceptionally different circumstances, they’re exterminators Kyouya is summoned to any point in time to any location to exterminate creatures like Shibito and now Yamibito, it’s like exterminating these creatures is his full time job, and he takes to it very naturally (I mean if I was Kyouya I’d enjoy killing Cosmic Horrors for all eternity too) Kyouya specifically is cleaning up the mess, he’s wiping the slate clean, like he’s protecting normalcy for the world by destroying all the evidence of what transpired Yorito however is dropped into the Stolen World with no context or warning, with a loaded gun, on a crowded beach, and he goes absolutely ballistic on the Yamibito, going so far that they *run from him in terror* If Kyouya’s extermination is protecting the world’s normalcy, Yorito’s extermination is the wrathful vengeance of Humanity in a world stolen by the Yamibito, in other words, *Yorito is the monster now*
The little Toro Inoue Shibito in the background. Knowing you have a real model of it just feels like you're really taking a note out of the dev team's penchant for making real props for their archives. It feels like an easter egg on a couple of different levels.
I'm just now realizing, isn't your narrator for the quotes TotallypointlessTV? That is such an amazing collab that I am happy to see! Also the video is so amazing as always I keep listening to her own repeat for background noise. ^^
Fantastic work, and thank you so much for having me on as a little guest voice - I’m super glad to have been part of this project, even if only in a small way! ❤
After discovering you from your first Siren video I'm so happy that I subscribed and watched your other work. You're very talented, well spoken and insightful. I truly look forward to your work and hope you garner more future success. Cheers.
I really like your use of guest voices. I'm completing a drawing and it makes it easier to differentiate between your commentary and things that were stated by the game's staff, etc.
Literally a 2+ hour long video essay about an old horror game, what more does the youtube algorithm need??? Not fair that this is at 70k veiws when it had all the elements to go big! Fantastic work as always! We appreciate you!
2:34:38 I just realize when you mention 2 hour.. I just realize.. been watching this video for 2 hour.. Holy.. The way you explained this game story, gameplay wise, lore and everything I could've never imagine exist or know really hook me into it.. Thank you so much for making this video in depth for people like me to watch. I truly appreciate it..
I consider myself an expert on the Siren series lol Especially Siren 1 and 2. It's my favorite Playstation game series. Yet I still learned quite a few things here that I never figured on my own : P Really amazing work. One of the best videos for those playing Siren 2 for the first time and want an explanation on what happened. That and supergreatfriend's final videos on his Siren 2 playthrough.
I watched the SuperGreatFriend let's play of this game and oh boy, that English dub. I quite liked the hella British dub of the first game but when I started hearing the actors in this one putting on those ridiculous Japanese accents I wasn't sure if I could stomach it.
Keiichiro Toyama is a master of his craft and his talent of directing video games in his career from his directional debut of the classic Silent Hill, the underrated Siren and Gravity Rush series and now his upcoming game Slitterhead which is returning to his survival horror roots. This guy has such a great a phenomenal track record and cemented as one of the best auteurs in the game industry!
I loved the previous siren vid and hope this video gets even more people into the series, I'm saving this one for tomorrow so don't know if you mention anything about it and despite knowing how sanity and time consuming making these must be I'm still hoping for a possible Siren: Bloodcurse video in the future as well ^^
Yay! I’m super glad I found your channel. I’ve been really anxious lately and as counterintuitive as it is hearing you discuss horror in depth is quite calming for me. On a different topic can I ask if you’ve heard of three of these newer horror vn series I really like? 10:24 wait that’s the bunny island isn’t it? The one where the chemical weapons testing rabbits got out and now it’s covered in bunnies that tourists come and interact with?
Really love how in depth you go in these, a lot of people usually just play a game as it is and doesn't have the curiosity to gather outside info, about where it takes place and etc, both because it might be hard to do so, or don't have time, or, sometimes, dont give a shit, but i think its important, especially for games like these where you can feel the passion that went into it. Also, i'll say this, Siren 2 and SH4 were the games that taught me that even tho' I'm rarely affected by horror, when like, body parts are disproportionately big, it does make me uncomfortable and I wonder if there's a name for it. Recently there was a Doctor Who episode that had something like that too, idk what it is, but like, I feel the same way I feel when looking at a cockroach, disgusted and i don't want it to touch me at all.
I loved it in the pervious siren video too, but i really love how you recreate the look of the game for the quotes section and REALLY love how the time lines up perfectly with the video. very satisfying.
You were always one of the best on this platform but it's wild that you just casually made yourself the GOAT here. What a statement piece this work is.
holy SMOKES this is one of the *best* video essays I’ve seen on YT!! I’m 2 hours in and still blown away by your analysis. I just had to share, and I hope you can keep creating more content similar to this! My conspiracy theorist-adjacent side is here for it 🤓
Wait, is the music used in a part of this video is Acid Rain from Kikokugai: The Cyber Slayer? If so that's awesome. Also, I've always liked your content. But also always forgot to subscribe. So now is good time as any. Thanks for the video.
Super cool song playing at the ''TIME TRIAL'' section of the video, what song is it? It's hip hop so it catched my ear. Also, video so good I watch it like a movie, eating pizza, thx!
These videos function as beautiful minidocs, I've been showing my partner SIREN and I think these will be great to show them once we're finished playing through the titles! I don't know if you plan on covering Blood Curse given that there's not a corresponding Siren Maniacs book for it but I would love to hear your thoughts and perspective on it someday! Amazing work as usual!
Oh yea, there's an anime from last year called Summertime Render that heavily "borrows" the lore and histoy from the Siren series with the only difference that it's also a time travel/ groundhogs day anime.
I have been waiting for this video, and it feels like Christmas already! I am so glad I subscribed, your videos bring some niche gaming knowledge to the forefront and I'm excited to see your breakdown on the sequel!
Phew watched the whole thing finally, amazing video can definitely recognise passion behind every single aspect you chose to cover. Also have to say the game's graphics lend itself really nicely to you visual style with so many camera shots of just the liminal enviroments like at 14:29 really capturing my attention so much so i had to rewind cause i missed some important info😅. Amazing job and hope it blows up like your previous siren vid🙏
The spiders thread is interesting, as it follows a very common format in christian storytelling. However the good deeds in those stories are usually directed towards another human being and not an animal, which might be where the cultural influence starts here. Dostoevsky himself had written a similar story. However instead of the man and the spider, the story follows an old woman who was an unkind person otherwise, yet once gave an onion to a homeless man, which her angel tries to argue is an example of her capacity for good will and therefore petitions god to show her mercy. God agrees, but only if the strength of that onion is enough to carry her into heaven. The angel offers the onion to the woman in the pit of hell, telling her to hold onto it. As they ascend others start grabbing her legs, attempting to escape with her. However, what breaks the onion and condemns the woman is her violent thrashing, as she kicks the others and raves on about how the onion is hers and hers alone.
Now that I'm thinking about it, lord this video must of taken ages to edit. I really like the editing style you have, the especially when you go on 2:49, the fact that you've added in a accurate timer relating to the current run time of the RUclips video is insane!!! This much level of depth in a video shouldn't go under appreciated!
I'm so impressed with the level of research and dedication in your videos. I loved learning more about the process of creating the game, the team's inspirations and ideas. Your first video on Siren was incredibly interesting and this one is just as interesting. Thank you for making your videos so enjoyable and fascinating to watch and listen to. I've only played the first Siren, but I'm even more in awe of the team's work and efforts on this franchise. I hope you'll do more videos on the subject. (Another, less "important" detail that makes me love your videos: thank you for creating calm, composed content that doesn't yell at me. I understand that some people like a more dynamic narration or editing, but it tends to annoy me. I love the pace and the cozy feeling of your videos more!)
The way I dont even notice how long these videos are because they flow so well with such interesting information 🥰 also love the inclusion of some deadly premoniton music
This was such a great video! It was perfect to have play in the background while I was packing my stuff to move into my new apartment. Really made the whole experience very tranquil while also keeping me interested enough to never get bored doing the menial tasks. Thanks so much for all your hard work making this. I really appreciate these longer video. I know their much more time consuming than your shorter videos. So I’m always very grateful whenever you make them. I’m every much looking forward to watching what you discuss next. 🥰
An amazing amount of work! Great music choices for some of the moodiness that fits the game like the Fable 2 and .hack title screens or the Twilight Realm theme! Made the dive into the details over the characters all the more enthralling to go through.
This siren 2 coverage is amazing. Really great work. Warms my heart to see this game get such love. While i realize this game has had playthroughs on youtube for a while, this might be the most in depth coverage its ever gotten. The vibes of this game are just amazing. This cosmic spooky puzzle you're trying to piece together. So good, a shame it didn't come to the states, worth so much attention. It's like this amazing slice of horror but a whole region doesn't get the release lol. Anyway thanks for such a great analysis. I'm left wondering storywise which world at the end is the real world between Mamoru and Soji. I think the kid from the first game with the sword can save our boy Yorito, but what do we make of Soji vs Mamorus state? And which world does the paradox collectible describe? I suppose Soji's world if it's a world truly without Mother. But then what does Mamoru do in his to get back home and is Ikuko gonna be chill lol?
Your siren videos are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for covering the story and every detail in depth. Ive been obsessed with siren since i was little kid. I was majorly heartbroken when i actually found out in 2006 that a siren 2 existed but never came to the states. Thankfully my dad helped me mod my silver ps2 slim to be able to play a Japanese import of siren 2 using magic swap. Then i couldn't hardly play it after all the hard work because everything was in Japanese 😂. Years later i finally beat it using walkthroughs and now i emulate the PAL version if i ever get that itch. Again thank you for the previous siren video and this one as well. I can tell you and whoever else was involved worked really hard. I hope one day to see a video of Siren Blood Curse from you. May not have been the best in the series but hey its Siren!!!😊
I feel sorry for the Yamibito! Like, dang, imagine going out for a fun day at the beach with the family and suddenly an alien falls from the sky and starts blasting! WTF!
Thank you for this video, it was very informative and nostalgic! I'm an old-time Siren 2 fan, and still learned plenty of stuff from this. Siren is just one of those things that stay with you I guess. Gonna watch your other videos now as well.
The actor at 2:18:40 is a very famous comedian in Japan, Naoki Tanaka. He is part of a comedy group called Gaki No tsukai. I have been watching them for years, so weird to see him appear here!
@@SearchingForPixels two women have accused him of sexual assault in 2015 so he got suspended from everything and has dissapeared from public. Nothing has been proven so I am waiting to see how it resolves.
I was waiting for this for a VERY long time!!!! I also had to wait the entire day yesterday upon release because I was traveling but I guess it's finally time and I'm SUPER excited!!!!! Your work on documenting the first game helped me HUGELY in what I'm doing with my Novel (it's also part of what I DMed you about) so I was waiting eagerly for this second part! Siren to me is not just a horror game or it might not even be a horror game! It's more of a sad story touching on subjects such as humans trying to be more than humans, ending up into shells of themselves (the Shibito). I also remember one time that I encountered one of them in a play through and before attacking me, they had spent quite a long time swearing and cursing me with their shovel on hand, which back then made me realise one thing... MAYBE in their eyes we (the player) are the monster or the villain. Maybe it's a metaphor for thin headed humans who don't accept what they don't understand! Anyways I think it's time I finally get to see the second part! Keep up the great work!!!!
dammit I knew I fucked something up in my late night hours of editing :'( I can't change it now but I think the subtitles should be correct! sorry for the editing mishap, hope it wasn't too immersion breaking!
Amazing video essay as always!! I really love these, they introduce me to Amazing games I never wouldve known about otherwise!! And your music choice is stellar, am I crazy or is that the fable theme at around an hour twenty minutes in-- such nostalgia hearing it!!
Your videos are what made me buy Siren on PS4 today. It cost only 10€ so I happily bought it. Still, I wish to buy it for PS2 as well, all region versions. But that endeavour would be very expensive.

Fantastic video as always!
Hopefully you can generate enough hype to revive this franchise, every other horror classic is getting dusted off these days, it's time for Siren to get the same treatment.

And I sure hope so 😭 that would be awesome
Because of both of you alls videos I've made an effort to play the more hidden ones. Thanks for everything and thanks for making quality videos that I can listen to while working in a car factory.
This is the 3rd video i watched in your and i love it. It's also very cool seeing one of my favorites youtubers in it.
I thought I recognized his voice 😂
No.
Really enjoyed your first video on Siren. The level of quality was impressive and the same is true here. Great Work :)
thank you so much! 😊
This video feels like a new zenith of production quality. The integration of source work into Siren's aesthetic is a brilliant concept.
So in regards to Yorito’s ending and how it relates to Kyouya’s I think they are given similar roles in exceptionally different circumstances, they’re exterminators
Kyouya is summoned to any point in time to any location to exterminate creatures like Shibito and now Yamibito, it’s like exterminating these creatures is his full time job, and he takes to it very naturally (I mean if I was Kyouya I’d enjoy killing Cosmic Horrors for all eternity too)
Kyouya specifically is cleaning up the mess, he’s wiping the slate clean, like he’s protecting normalcy for the world by destroying all the evidence of what transpired
Yorito however is dropped into the Stolen World with no context or warning, with a loaded gun, on a crowded beach, and he goes absolutely ballistic on the Yamibito, going so far that they *run from him in terror*
If Kyouya’s extermination is protecting the world’s normalcy, Yorito’s extermination is the wrathful vengeance of Humanity in a world stolen by the Yamibito, in other words, *Yorito is the monster now*
Haven't watched yet, but you F'ING RULE. I found you like a week ago via your Siren video, and hoped you'd do Siren 2. I know this is gonna be good.
All the best RUclipsr collabs on those quotes!!!! I was already excited for this video but the voiceovers have killed me
The little Toro Inoue Shibito in the background.
First thought I had as well! It definitely is.
Some of them, yeah. You can see who's voicing them in the attribution
Fantastic work, and thank you so much for having me on as a little guest voice - I’m super glad to have been part of this project, even if only in a small way! ❤
thank you for being a part of it!! ❤️
I never played siren or even heard of the series, but that won't stop me from being completely absorbed into your videos about these games.
The Siren franchise are some of the most scary games i've played in my entire life, now let's watch this amazing vídeo.
Breadsword on the video. KBash. Sulmatul. Gingy in the comments. You’re new video. It’s like a who’s who of my top ten favorite RUclipsrs.
Holy..

I consider myself an expert on the Siren series lol Especially Siren 1 and 2. It's my favorite Playstation game series.

Really amazing work.
I literally shrieked when I saw this notification. And it's over 2 hours?! What a gift this is!!
Thanks for the video!

Holy shit the time stamps are synched with the video playtime... Holy.... Shit that's amazing ❤
I find their vibes are really cool and it’d be cool if you’d talk about any of them (but I understand you probably have a huge list of stuff you wanna discuss.)
There’s the death mark series, shin hayarigami (only the first game got translated) and paranormasight.
The designs for death mark are phenomenal and paranormasight has really cool mechanics and music and route stuff it’s great
my friend wonder why I don't watch tv shows or movies... here is 2,5h video about PS2 Japanese horror game (°ー°〃)
people say this a lot, but they truly DONT make games like they used to Q.Q
10:24 wait that’s the bunny island isn’t it? The one where the chemical weapons testing rabbits got out and now it’s covered in bunnies that tourists come and interact with?

Really love how in depth you go in these, a lot of people usually just play a game as it is and doesn't have the curiosity to gather outside info, about where it takes place and etc, both because it might be hard to do so, or don't have time, or, sometimes, dont give a shit, but i think its important, especially for games like these where you can feel the passion that went into it.

Hell yeah! Hoped there'd be a second Siren video from you :) Loved the first one
I loved it in the pervious siren video too, but i really love how you recreate the look of the game for the quotes section and REALLY love how the time lines up perfectly with the video. very satisfying.
omg its TPTV, (TotallyPointlessTv)
That little imp with the bug eyes next to your TV is frightening me. Where can I get one

very off topic but i love that you used megaten & shadow tower music for this vid, it's nice hearing them in the background :D
Mary Celeste mentioned.
What more could a poor boy do?
The pinnacle of survival horror, just like Silent Hill 2 😊

It's like this amazing slice of horror but a whole region doesn't get the release lol. Anyway thanks for such a great analysis.
I'm left wondering storywise which world at the end is the real world between Mamoru and Soji. I think the kid from the first game with the sword can save our boy Yorito, but what do we make of Soji vs Mamorus state? And which world does the paradox collectible describe? I suppose Soji's world if it's a world truly without Mother. But then what does Mamoru do in his to get back home and is Ikuko gonna be chill lol?
is there a walkthrough for these siren games?
WTF!
Where do I even get this game?!?!?!
I legit remembered the old Siren video an few days ago and have been listening to it to help fall asleep, and then this comes out...
Nice.
Thank you for this video, it was very informative and nostalgic! I'm an old-time Siren 2 fan, and still learned plenty of stuff from this. Siren is just one of those things that stay with you I guess. Gonna watch your other videos now as well.
My first exposure to Siren was Blood Curse
The actor at 2:18:40 is a very famous comedian in Japan, Naoki Tanaka. He is part of a comedy group called Gaki No tsukai. I have been watching them for years, so weird to see him appear here!
Shame hearing about Matsumoto.
What happened?@@Naruga
1.) Great video, as always!
2.) During the Unlockables chapter... is that... Chulip music I hear in the background...?
I looove Siren so much, this video is 🖤 p.s: at 1:56:53 you showed the same Atlantis magazine quote but a different voice over.
dammit I knew I fucked something up in my late night hours of editing :'( I can't change it now but I think the subtitles should be correct! sorry for the editing mishap, hope it wasn't too immersion breaking!
@@eurothug4000 No problem, you went through a huge amount of work, this video is still perfect!🖤
Amazing video essay as always!! I really love these, they introduce me to Amazing games I never wouldve known about otherwise!! And your music choice is stellar, am I crazy or is that the fable theme at around an hour twenty minutes in-- such nostalgia hearing it!!
I am glad you went longer with this one, missy!
I am commenting to increase engagement metrics
Your videos are what made me buy Siren on PS4 today. It cost only 10€ so I happily bought it. Still, I wish to buy it for PS2 as well, all region versions. But that endeavour would be very expensive.
Woaah that island looks so unique! Like something out of a post apocalyptic game
