I always try to crack out my DD1 and help people tuning their amps, but I always make a point to explain how it's all working and what I'm doing. Amplifiers are complicated for your average bear and education goes a long way to keeping this scene alive.

    my gains are set to max in every way shape and form on the amplifiers side, however my bass gain on my unit is only set to +2db and it sounds fine up to volume 25-31 (depending on the song) people don't understand that you can turn gains up but run your eq on the radio as you see fit. i do not play into distortion and should i ever smell a speaker (again, certain songs hit that "moar power" spot) i dial it back a bit. i turn my tweeters up as high as possible to compensate but i do need an amp just for them. Concerning the PHASE knob adjustment, you have mentioned in most cases it doesn't matter. You may be right. In some cases makes the world of a difference. I think some amp designers have gone through specific experiences then decide it was actually crucial to put such a knob on every amp they would make. I think in every industry where quality is crucial, there have been are and always be small details which make collosal difference in that particular experience, details understood only by few who have had the pure luck to get it. One of my last experiences in car audio was with the grounds in a car audio system. On the internet there are different opinions on how to ground but never a general idea, you always find different pole opinions. Until you try it yourself. Having a common ground point for all your audio equipment in your car would enable you to enjoy your system how you were supposed to.

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 лет назад

      Grounds can absolutely make a huge difference. The phase thing is more common to see a difference in mids/highs than in subs. That can absolutely be a huge thing in the upper end of response.

  • @jdrissel
    @jdrissel 5 лет назад

    I am surprised you did not mention the tweeter trick when setting the gain. Set up a test tone that is well below a tweeter's high pass crossover. Then hook up the tweeter in parallel with the speakers. Turn up the gain until you hear distortion from the main speakers, or anything at all from the tweeter. This works because the signal will not have any content in the tweeter's pass band, but when clipping occurs anywhere, there will be output from the tweeter. This will smoke out distortion even in head unit line out signals - really handy when doing factory radio upgrades... You can even do this for tweeters. Just get a high sensitivity tweeter and make a 12Db/octive high pass at about 15khz and keep your test tones below 10k. Putting a led in parallel with the tweeter can work too, esp if you can't hear tweeters anymore.

      OP: Essentially gain adjusts your amps output. Most people think that it's like a "volume" knob. That if you turn it up your amp makes more power and vice versa. Not the case. Your owners manual will tell you what your head units output voltage is. And that's what you adjust your amps gain to. Most are around the 2-4v range. And while you can just turn it all the way up and lower you head units subwoofer setting or vice versa that's not the correct way. Best thing is to find the head units voltage output and adjust your amp as close as possible. I hope that helped a little....

      @@EMFAudio and you probably have to order them due to the fact you do not actually keep stock & inventory as legitimate businesses should. People might as well buy from somewhere else & get their order faster. Instead of ordering from you then waiting on you to order from your so called 'supplier' and then the two or three days it takes you to get it. Then another two or three days for the original customer to get their order after you finally ship it.
      It's like the two 4 channel amps you told the guy in another comment you had in stock and could ship immediately. Lol first off you sounded desperate to make a sale. Second, you are supposedly a business that sells car audio gear and you only have two 100.4 amps in stock... You really should close if you aren't going to keep full inventory and stock because you're adding nothing to the car audio world. You are not filling a void. You're just one of those people who are in the way just messing up things for other people. Go get a regular job and let the real pros keep the industry going. No wonder you talk bad about other companies & people. You see them doing so much better than you and accomplishing things you can't even dream about. You are full of jealousy and envy. Nothing but a hater and you've proved it in so many videos. For instance your videos on Steve Meade, c'mon grow up already. Everyone knows who Steve Meade is because SMD has helped so many people and contributed so much to those who love music and audio. Yet so very few have heard of you. Wonder why Meade has friends and real business investors like Gately, SHCA, D' Amor, B2 Audio, Sonic Electronix, Deaf Bonce, Sundown, Skar, Audio Legion, XS Power, DC Audio, Mechman, AudioControl, Second Skin, SoundDigital, Pride, all kind of different celebrities etc and so on. The list keeps going. Then there's you little old EMF who doesn't even have inventory of his own subwoofers or amplifiers and only had two 4 channel amps in stock that he was eager to solicit a sale via RUclips comment.
      Seriously how are you going to hate on so many other people who are actually contributing to the industry when you yourself are making zero progress. Here's a tip how about focusing on your company and actually building a solid reputation. Then you might actually get your business up off the ground and see it grow wings. You will never be a success if you keep spreading negativity. You're making too many enemies.
      Need proof... Go to the next SEMA show set-up a booth & let Steve Meade set up a booth 20 feet away from yours. Both of you take your products that your company offers and take plenty so you can do giveaways as a thank you to supporters. Whose booth will have a line wrapped around the building while the other has no line at all because nobody knows who he is and he has zero product to even take to put on display at a booth??? Hmmm, you know the answer to that question and it eats at you every day.
      Ok go ahead and attack me in order to boost your own depraved ego. Go ahead and mention how my comment was so long and blah blah blah. Lol yeah I spent every bit of two minutes on this comment... Remind me again, how many videos and how much time was it that you spent directed towards talking about Meade and his SMD products? Oh yeah lots and all that time spent made you look like a complete fool, the joke ended up being on you and only caused several car audio RUclips channels to actually make a video disproving several of the videos you have made and go into detail in how you were wrong on various videos you have wasted time doing. EMF stop being a hater, grow up and learn some humility. Find your own lane and do your thing. Stop focusing on negativity. People get sick of it quick.
      Alphasonik makes better car audio products than EMF and Alphasonik just recently got their business back up and going again after being closed for several years. Think about that when you can't sleep tonight.... Alphasonik is far superior to EMF, FACTS.

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 лет назад +1

      The only way it could actually be producing more than 6v is if it was balanced outputs, which few are, and the amp would have to be balanced in as well. If you go over 6v you can fry the preamp on the amp. It doesn't just turn into a bad signal, it's like sending too much voltage into the power supply, it fails. That being said, a clean signal in, be it 0.2v or 6v does not produce more power. The setting is to match the signal to achieve maximum power output capability.

      The tricky part to that is having a vehicle with multiples of the same amps and multiple subs to benefit from phasing. I don't personally own anything that would be able to properly demonstrate that.

    I was wondering if using ofc for power to your amplifier and cca for ground would cause a issue?Or would it cause to much impedance change?

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 лет назад +1

      Impedance is dynamic, that changes in a magnetic field. I think you're thinking of resistance. To answer your question, resistance difference isn't what will effect performance. CCA can't handle the current OFC can. So, as long as you aren't exceeding the current capabilities of the CCA wire, you won't see a difference. If you exceed it's limitations, yes, you will see a difference.

    • @joebelton2146

    so could I use the bass boost to help a sag in a bandpass? like say it's tuned to peak at 35hz and 55hz, but the sag was in the middle, could you technically get rid or at least midigate the drop (within reason of mechanical limits of course)?

    • @EMFAudio

      Presuming your bass boost was 45 hz and you had an actual peak at 35 and 55, yes. Just because it's tuned there doesn't mean it WILL have peaks there.

    Is it dangerous to pass speaker level input through rca inputs of an amp if it cant allow high level input

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 лет назад

      Yes and no. Yes you could do it, up until the maximum voltage of the amp. So in the case of these amps having a maximum of 6v, you could use the speaker level made into an RCA jack as long as you didn't exceed 6v. Over that could/would damage the amp.

    Will Subsonic filter cancel out the low pass because its lower hz

    • @EMFAudio
      @EMFAudio  5 лет назад

      If you set it wrong, yes. Remember, subsonic is a high pass so if you set it to 20 hz and the low pass to 80 hz, that will be full signal from 20-80 hz. Now if you set the subsonic to 50 hz and the low pass to 50 hz, yes, it would absolutely kill the signal.
