Loved that commentary about Marie Laveau's possible intentions as an ethical person creating love potion. I think your hypothesis on why she might have used Lilac makes total sense! Aweome info Johannah!
Fragrances Mentioned in this Video: Voodoo Love by Bourbon French Parfums (1970), Alessandra Crain, perfumer Mon Amour by Bourbon French Parfums (2012), Mary Eleftorea Behlar, perfumer Reve d'Or by L.T. Piver (1889) * I purchased all bottles of perfume myself, I have not received anything from companies.
Hi Johanna!!! I have been intrigued by this fragrance for a long time! I've heard it's similar to Lancome Magie Noire. I was sad to hear that Bourbon French Parfums closed their doors in New Orleans. At least they're still operating online.
😮 I never heard! 🫢 -So sad to hear that Bourbon French closed their physical shop in New Orleans recently. I remember seeing a newspaper article from just before the 2024 Christmas holidays that didn’t mention that they were going to be closing their physical perfumery shop. So I’m guessing this may have happened as recently as January 2025! This likely means that they won’t be doing in person client evaluations and signature scents anymore, unless it’s perhaps by appointment only.. but their signature fragrance service always seemed so reasonably priced and accessible to people who were able to make the trip to New Orleans. I wonder what will happen to this house? Will the owner, and head perfumer since 1991, Mary Eleftorea Behlar, still work there and continue to create new fragrances? Will she continue to own the house? Will they sell the house to a parent company? And how will that affect the fragrances and their prices? I’m sad to see these changes. I’m sad to see big companies thriving, while smaller ones struggle to continue giving customers individual attention and services.
I haven’t gotten my nose on Magie Noir. I’d only heard of it from this one woman’s channel, SmurfyGurly, who loves it and mentions wearing it a lot. I had assumed it was pretty fancy and expensive. But you say it’s from Lancôme. Do you own it or have you smelled it?
@@johannahhuttenstone hi Johannah! Your name is so unique! Like Jo and Hannah put together! Very cool! YES YES YES!! I used to own Magie Noire as I worked behind the counter in cosmetics and fragrance from the late 80's to the late 90's off and on. They still sell Magie Noire I think. I have no idea what it smells like now though.
@@peaceice8755 Awww ☺️ I need to start watching some of your videos on your channel, been meaning to do that! -wait, I just looked, I thought you had a channel, was I wrong?
This was great!!!! I have been stalking the BFP website for a long time. I have a wish list! But it's a mimimum $45.00 charge just for the shipping to me in Canada, so I'm hesitant to buy. I am so curious about a lot of their stuff. They have some with names like "Mon Idee" and "Sans Nom". LOL!
Well, I get a few scents of theirs on Amazon from someone in Louisiana but they don’t stock all their scents, but the shipping was $4 last summer, but that was to here in Oregon. I see now you said you are in Canada. I can’t believe Bourbon French has a minimum shipping that high!
@ I just checked Amazon and they currently list about 8 fragrances by Bourbon French for about $34 USD each, probably plus shipping, but not all the fragrances by the house. The 4 ounce EDC bottles are pretty reasonably priced, but with a minimum shipping of $45, I would be discouraged as well. And I’d probably be curating that cart until..late some night 😆
