I couldn't understand what you said a Facebook viewer had commented saying she read was a common problem and that it also happened to your neighbor. What was the common problem? You were talking about it at the 19:30 mark. Thanks!!
+Brandon Duke hi Brandon, what it was is that the heated hose can get SO hot it actually melts the glue at the fitting and the fitting ends up coming away from your water connection. Happened to us and to our neighbor, and the viewer had heard that it was a common problem. Crazy!!
Great informative video! I do hope you will video the insulation of Windows and every measure you guys take to keep the winter elements out, and just what all is involved in keeping the camper comfortable in the extreme weather conditions that you guys are in now. Brian always does very clean and organized work. Thanks for sharing
I didn't think about the lower electric use inside. I was thinking more on the lines of all the heat tapes running 24/7. Did your High Country come with arctic package?
It would be helpful if only one of you talked at the same time. Answering questions while doing the video was also all over the place. Stay on task. Who cares how many people are watching.
very interesting. if you are at 9 degrees in December i would be very surprised if your water lines don't freeze in january/february, i hope they don't, good luck from fla, btw i have never had a phone freeze
+golfnut I never had a phone freeze either, so crazy. It completely shut off. It gets so cold it freezes up the battery juices! Yeah we will have to see what happens! So far so good.
I do believe each different brand & level of foam board has it's own level of moisture resistance but with this particular sheeting shouldn't get soggy. Obviously moisture isn't as much of an issue as it is with fiberglass with foam. I wonder how this worked out though, not sure if there are other videos. Thinking of doing this myself in Ohio on my fifth wheel.
I know you said you aren't concerned with how it looks = and I totally support that, but I think it looks great! I know you aren't done yet, but have you been noticing a difference inside Mavis with it feeling warmer? Have you been able to use less heat/propane? It is a high of 8 degrees here in Western NY/Buffalo area, with a current windchill of -5!!!
Since this video we completed it and have noticed a huge difference. Once it was completely blocked in, it has kept the RV much more evenly warmed, the floor is warmer, etc. Much more comfortable. We still want to insulate our windows so we don't have to keep the shades closed all the time, so working on that next. It's in the single digits and dipping into negatives here too.
Are your tanks enclosed? Ours are not and I was wondering if wrapping some of that heat tape around them and the pipes would keep them from freezing. It doesn't get that cold down here, but once in a while we can get into the single digits or teens. I have even thought about twining the heat tape in the 2 bays that house the waterlines or stuffing them with insulation! I hate to winterize and then have a few weeks of nice weather that we could take off somewhere. :-)
Hey there! Ours are enclosed, so we don't have any experience ourselves with what you are asking. I'd recommend asking in our Winter RVing group on Facebook! Search on Facebook for "Winter RVing - Let's Stay Warm Together!" and post your question there. Lots of helpful people on there.
LOOKS GOOD
Thanks!
Do you insulate the inside of your cargo doors?
Is it better to have the aluminum foil side out or in on your skirting

+Allan Warmflash brrrr!

Hahahaaha I know right!
Great job Brian! Everything looks ship shape!!

+Latada thanks so much, we promise to film!
That was a lot of work....I wonder how much that will raise your electric bill.
It should lower it not raise it!

good job Brian.
82 degrees here at Lake Conroe, Texas today 12/26/2016.
you may want to do the slides, also.
WOW! 82! Sounds like a whole different world!
why is everyone putting the silver out? my understanding it needs to be in for heat.
Describe how did make your land gear blocks. What are the materials?

you guys do a great job at everything!
Well thank you, Janet!
Good underpinning job Brian! Whew, get in south! I got cold watching.
Do you guys have a back up generator for Jaws if the engine doesn't start up?
+Andrew Archide no, we do not
Great idea I just hope the tape doesn't leave a residue when you go to take it off
Don't think it will, but there's always goo gone if it does.
Did it ??
actually, you could reuse a lot of those pieces with how much you are overlapping onto the side of the rv.
How did the tape hold up? How was it taking it off?
Brian does the insulation in contact with the ground have a tendency to get soggy or "rot" when in contact with rain?

What brand of hat is Brian wearing? Great video!
+Ian-Karen Warner I will ask him!
Why wouldn't a guy face the reflective silver on the inside to radiate heat underneath
I presume the foam might be reusable?
wow that sounds incredibly expensive for a 1 space use. ouch.
