Paul Klee could easily be compared to the likes of Picasso or Van Gogh. Within his very short life span he created some 10,000 artworks! Find out how he accomplished all this work despite war, disease, and more. Studying his work and life left me inspired, and I hope you will be as well!

I like how his artworks reflect his life
I am composer
L.Russell Brown
I was born
June 29th 1940
Late one night at Penn state
My daughter was doing her thesis
She chose Paul Klee because my sketches in my diary reminded her of his art.....
When she discovered he died on the exact day I was born
It stunned her and she called at a late hour.
I have always felt a connection between Klee and I
My work in the field of pop music may not only belong to me!
L.Russell Brown wow, that’s a really cool story. Thanks for the feedback, and for watching!
Paul Klee was fascinated by the colors of my Beautiful Country TUNISIA 🇹🇳
I most definitely can see why! Tunisia is one of my favorite countries I've ever been to. Really want to go back and make some episodes. If Covid would just go away:/ Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Nate..you are amazing!!!
a line is a dot that went for a walk. . . …….. always learn something new from you
ramelep Thanks so much for the feedback! That quote has to be one of my fav of all time. So good.
Bad video
Excellent video, Nate!! 'A line is a dot that went for a walk' - I like that a lot. Thank you so much for this video. USA
So glad you love that quote too! Super appreciate the feedback, and great to know it's being appreciated!
@@artrageousnate Glad you are here on YTube, Nate!
I watched a serious, “scholarly” video on Paul Klee and not only did they constantly mispronounce his name, they didn’t give half as many facts and interesting details. Really love your videos.
Man, that is so frustrating, but super great to hear! Packing the life and work of an artist within eight minutes is not easy, but getting the facts straight is super important to me. Thanks for watching and subscribing! Appreciate the support!
This helped a lottttt
yes keep it up wow
Great vid, keep up the great work
Juan Espino thanks, super appreciate it
Thanks for the video!! One of my favorite artists. I have a number of prints of his work. If you haven't seen them you may want to check out his diaries and the instructional book "Pedagogical Sketchbook" he wrote for his students.
Thanks so much, and great to hear you love Klee as well! I haven't read that book, but I'm looking for it now. Thanks for the info and for watching!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah, I love this video. Thank you. I didn't know Klee's story. Amazing. I love his work.
Alan Gordon Great to hear! I didn't know that much about him either, but I become super fascinated the more I researched. Thanks for watching!
really like this will use it it the classroom!
So great to hear! Thanks for watching and for being an educator!
Very interesting.
Very interesting… I came across your video quite some time ago and I forgot to leave a comment so I’m doing so now :).
haha! I'll take the delay, and thanks for the feedback! It's one of my older episodes, but I still absolutely love the work of Klee. Thanks again!
@@artrageousnate ok!!
*Nice Presentation!* Once Klee was so filled with exuberance that he took the red
silk cloth he put under his chin for playing violin and painting right on it covering with
wild red and orange lively fruits. _Fruits on Red._ Sadly, the Nazis removed many of
his paintings from galleries, some were burned. The rest were part of an art show
called _The Degrease Exhibition._
Over a million people viewed the "degenerate" art and mocked it openly. Many artists
were part of Hitler's "purge". This caused Paul exiled himself to Switzerland and
beside being ill he became depressed until he was brightened by a visit from Picasso!
Despite Hitler's efforts many of the artists' works survived to enlighten the future.
*Here's to you Paul Klee whose vivid canvases provide a light in the art world!*
Wow, I so appreciate this feedback! I knew some of his pieces where burned, but had no idea no the other parts of his story you shared. It's honestly amazing any of the world's greatest artworks still exist after Hitler. Thanks again for this bit of history, which I love!
@@artrageousnate Thanks for the nice comment! You should check out more on the Degenerate Exhibition. Many artists were destroyed by the experience... though some muddled through. Klee exiled himself to Switzerland and even though he was Swiss born, was denied citizenship because he was a "degenerate"!
Wow awesome
Thanks! Super appreciate the feedback.
Purrfect I am gonna do Paul klee For Arts week
Glad I could help! I'm definitely down for an arts week.
Love it. Good introduction.
Thank you!
Nice!
Great Quotes Daily Thanks!🙏
Great video
Thanks so much! Super appreciate the feedback.
I wish he would be a bit more cognizant that upper elementary teachers would like to show these more mature and interesting videos to their students vs the babyish ones that are out there for elementary, without them being too mature. If you know what I mean. 😮
Totally agree! I'm always trying to create episodes that can be used in upper elementary to high school levels. Of course, it's never an easy task since art often contains subject matter and history that may be uncomfortable to some. But, I feel it's my responsibility to not skip over the difficult stuff. I think these artists deserve that much, and it often can lead to great discussions about life with students.
When I was a classroom teacher I used to send home a note to parents explaining many things such as the difference between art and porn, and that talking about topics such as drug use may come up. I would do my best to pre-warn parents before the discussions, but as time went on they began to trust me more.
Hope that helps, and thanks for teaching!
my favorite artist. do u know where most of his work is ?
yes his art works is almost a scientific one!
Could not agree more! One of my favorite artist.
Not enough Klee. Why not show more of HIS WORK? He had an incredible body of work.
Cheryl Campbell Well, this episode is meant to be a brief overview. My goal is to help initiate a greater conversation or exploitation by hopefully peaking your interest. Many educators in museums and schools use my episodes, so they want them to be short/discussion starter. Definitely agree there is more to Klee than I touched on! Thanks for watching!
Hi, your video about Klee is really interesting. I would like to ask if I can translate your video and post it on bilibili, a Chinese video website. I will tag your name on my profile, for no profit, just to share your video with others.Because I haven't seen such a video introducing Klee in China, I want to let more people know about him. Looking forward to your reply!
Thanks for getting in touch! What if you translate it and I can post that transcription on the video? Would LOVE to have it also available on my channel in Chinese! ❤️🙌
@@artrageousnate Sure, how can I post the "srt file" to you?
Hi
He was born im my hometown
Lee & Jason Wow, that’s amazing! I hope to get there some day soon. Thanks for the feedback, and for subscribing!
so he is the original creator of trollface
INFO FOR 3rd-5th Teachers. Great video, but the emphasis on the dead body in "Death of the Idea" steals the attention of the students for the remainder of the video. Great info and details but kids are so fascinated by death that they kept missing the rest of the info.
Interesting! It's been some time since I made this episode, so the feedback is helpful. I actually made this one while I was still an elementary school art teacher. I don't recall how students reacted to it, but I can imagine the dead body grabbed their attention a bit longer than desired. Ha!
Super appreciate the feedback, and THANK YOU for using my episodes in your classroom! Where do you teach btw?

His name is pronounced like "Clay".......
That's actually how I pronounced it. Maybe my midwestern accent is worse than I thought! Ha! Thanks for watching and for the feedback!
