In this episode of Quick Tips for Helix I talk about a way we can maximize our creative possibilities with our Helix by utilizing the Expression pedal in ways some may not realize were possible. In this series I am going to do very short, concise videos on a very specific topic to hopefully help people get the most from their Helix/HX Stomp and dial in great tones. I really hope you enjoy the video and this new series!

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I asked on a previous video! I tell you, this series should be included on a CD/USB drive with all Helix purchases!
My pleasure and glad you are enjoying the videos :-)
If your singing and playing live, it can be challenging to hit the right footswitch at the right moment. If there's only like rhythm and lead, for instance, I'll often assign needed parameter changes to expression 1 so I can stay on mic and find the pedal (a much bigger target) by feel, w/o looking down. If there's more than that, 'll then try to copy/paste presets to 2 adjacent footswitches, giving me a wider area to hit. If you have a tune that needs many snapshots, I've no easy options, but tipping your mic down a bit can help you look down, too. It also helps to practice standing in front of a mic as your learning/reviewing band songs. The more all that feels natural, the better. Sorry, if I got into the weeds a bit here. It's just important to work out these little things out to help make it easier to stay in the zone playing/singing live.
The Min and Max controls are a godsend. I use them on just about every preset (I have a volume pedal on EXP 1 for all my presets for on-the-fly adjustments) and to control the sweep of the wah which I am very fussy about. I also set a Min of about 40% for swells because at that setting, you can barely hear it anyway in the mix.
COOOOOOOOOOOL!!
❤❤I knew you could do this but never could figure out how to min and max the exp pedal! Thanks dude! You really do rock!!!🎸🤘🏾🎸🤘🏾
You can also reverse the direction of min and max. So you can go low to high on one paramerter, and high to low on another at the same time.
Totally my pleasure ad glad it was helpful :-)
Yes, I came across that a while back. I don’t play live but I thought this was nice feature to adjust if need to while playing. 👍
Yeah it can be a lot of fun for sure 😀
This is So Much FUN!!!! it adds more layers of tone tweakability on the fly, adding to the already awesome snapshots. The potential of the Helix is so Vast! Thank You Jason for going under the hood to give countless more hours of fun playing and tone-chasing 🤘
My pleasure and glad you enjoyed! It can be such an enjoyable feature to play around with :-)
Darn, already knew that :(
