I only have the 880hx. But why did you adjust the level? The vu meter looked the same as before. Also why is there a level control on the calibration site? can't you just use the master rec level instead? It does the same thing right? Too bad the 880hx only got 2 heads.
The master rec-level Knob that big one is for the desired recording level in any tape we want to record ok ? but it depends form the tape if the rec-level will be higher or lower during recording than the master rec-level we've chosen so with this special adjustment - calibration with the special tone test at 400hz we can make the rec-level precicelly the same to the master rec-volume for the particular tape currently we record And that changes from tape to tape even for the same type so this calibration step called < rec level cal > The other setting at 10000Hz is for the bias and this changes too from tape to tape and it's called < Bias calibration > And in both rec-calibrations level & bias we must bring the VU meters up to the guide arrows no higher no lower Mostly 3 head decks have this luxury I hope i've helped :-)
Do not you know the size of a brake belt on this Kenwood? I need to replace the one. One guy makes quite good belts locally in Ukraine so I would like to check if he has any suitable for this particular deck but could not find its size anywhere (((
Hello! If I remember correctly, this is a standard Sankyo tape mechanism which only needs the loop belt between the two flywheels. I imagine the belt from any other deck that uses it fits. For example Yamaha KX-1200. Maybe you can find the measurements for that one :)
Interesting, i did not expect that this ferric needs a little bit of positive BIAS!
I would expect the BIAS knob more to the negative
depends on the deck s internal standard calibration
does your kenwood recordings shows lower peaks on other decks?

@@Oerg866 Many thanks! I will have a look at that one then )))
