I'm guessing that was early April? judging from the frost on your canoe in the morning. A good idea to do a trip like this in early spring, as I've done various Wye paddles and it's much busier in May/June/July when it's been really hard to find wild camp spots like you did without being ‘interrupted’. I salute your wild spirit. I've done several Wye films now and I have to say that I've copped a bit of flak for wild camping and lighting a fire. But as you say, leave no trace, and in fact you left it even cleaner than you found it. The world belongs to us all hey? but I think you understand that well. Enjoyed it, great work, I know how long it takes setting up shots as well as paddling and eating! One tip: film in 24p and it will look more film like.

Was absolutely gorgeous waking up to the steamy / foggy river - I'll never forget that. Absolutely - I strongly believe the world is for everyone and we must take responsibility for our actions! Definitely takes time to film, and sometimes I wonder if it's worth it... but then when I watch back and re-live the moment, it's clear that it pays off :-) - Does 24p mean the same as 24fps? @@EzeAdventurer You've inspired me to do an early spring trip, less crowds! Filming DOES take a super effort, and I think the same as you at times, is it worth it? But always I come to the same conclusion... yes! So 24p is the same as 24fps, it goes back to the early cine days. If you film in 24fps it will look more ‘film like’ and cinematic. If you take certain shots in 60fps that you want to slow down in post then it will be really smooth (120fps like GoPro cams allow you to do) and will look even better. Glad you enjoyed it buddy! I love the canoe, it handles well in the water, it's slick and efficient but also quite stable given it's broad shape. A lot of space to carry gear and extra passenger. I used it on the River Wye with my wife and 2 kids onboard (6 yrs and 4 yrs old) and it handled really well. The ONLY downside I would say is the weight. Hi buddy thanks so much and glad you liked it! This was in April - definitely cold that morning with the frost, and the moisture in the air from the river makes it feel colder I think - but it's wonderful nonetheless and no reason to delay going!

Hey David! I think so...?! Best to check official advise as it changes from area to area. I know canoeing is allowed, and so is fishing (with a government rod license), so I assume both together are ok too?
@@EzeAdventurer I only ask as I live next to the wye and the rules are so strict on this stretch so would be nice to give what you did a try. Great video.
@@davidryan7848 Got you David! I know for sure Canoeing is ok. The rest is somewhat interpretation and judgement. I like to think that by picking up litter along the way I'm leaving the place better for everyone else to enjoy it. Laws on wilderness aren't as favourable as they are in Scandinavia where anyone can basically go anywhere... But surely nature should be shared, enjoyed and protected by all... no?
@@EzeAdventurer Honestly, I share your passion. I've just been put off because the river bailiffs tend to throw a fit when you step out of line of the monetised rules of the river, now living in a small town you don't want the attention haha! But you've inspired me to just get to it. Can't keep a Welshman off the wye!
There's a lot of conflicting rules around. As far as I'm concerned I camped on the river itself, which belongs to nobody. I left no trace and needed that stop for the night to rest in order to complete my journey. Camping in private property is not allowed.
Amazing!! As I'm watching this I think of the time you must have spent editing it and making it look so fantastic. Bravo Million dollar question - how did that water taste? :)
Hey Ayaz! Editing does take significant time :-) but I love doing it and sharing the experience - thanks for watching it! The water tasted absolutely delicious, way better than any bottled stuff I guarantee you! When I went home, I was missing the taste of it! So fresh, cold, beautiful!
I can only admire your camera and editing skills and congratulate you on a very entertaining vid. I also appreciate your concerns for the environment, your efforts to clean up after others and your obvious passion for the wellbeing of the countryside. However, not only have you produced what could be used as evidence for the prosecution in a court of law but you are encouraging others to do likewise. I’m sorry but, until the laws of this land are changed, you are breaking several. My primary concern is that you demonstrate the act of fishing without permission, “theft of fishing rights”, methods that contravene local bylaws that are in place to protect fish from physical harm, (barbed treble hooks which are banned on this river), and April is outside the fishing season for course fish which means you would have to have a Salmon Licence and can face a heavy fine and having all equipment used to fish with, canoe included, seized by Environment Agency Enforcement Officers if you don’t have one. Just saying! Oh, and don’t drink the water as it’s polluted with raw sewage. Perhaps I could persuade you to do the trip again but this time find out what is permitted and what isn’t and explain this as you go, (I’m happy to assist with this), so that we can keep the River Wye a wonderful place for all to share without animosity or conflict of interests.
I really appreciate you taking the time to (very kindly) clarify the laws of what is and isn't permitted on the River. I did this with best intention on heart and I may have been unaware of certain facts, which in hindsight, I wouldn't repeat. I think anybody watching this video and having passion for the outdoors, wildlife and nature, will want to do what's best for the environment within the law, to preserve as you say for all to enjoy. I will continue to clean up spots that I visit and will responsibly abide the corresponding laws.
Appreciate your opinion and I often debate this myself (whether to put it or not)! I may do a Poll at some stage to ask the viewers as a whole what they think. Thanks for watching buddy!
Very cool how you're getting your water from the river. I've never used one of those types of filters but they look excellent. You make me want to get another canoe 🛶🙂👍🏻
@@EzeAdventurerI used to have a Clipper Solo Prospector which is a narrow all round style for tripping and whitewater. It was definitely my favourite canoe but I also had a Pakcanoe folding boat and an Esquif Nitro for whitewater. I sold all that when I got into sailing though.
Great videos, but a tip. You need to normalize your sound better, your music is super loud, you talking on the other hand is super quit. Music should be in background and much more quiet than your voice. Also think about target audience, lots of people watch this while working, we don't want to be constantly turning the volume down when music is kicking in and then having to turn up the volume because we can't hear what you're saying. Keep music very quiet to complement the natural nature sounds, would love to actually hear birds singing and just other natural sounds of the river, water, etc, but either your mic is very low sensitivity, or you need to record the nature sounds separately and just add another lawyer of sounds, for example WHILE you're fishing. You can add natural sounds instead of music. Also you in the boat on the river= as soon as we start hearing the river, you bring in loud music and we can't hear the nature anymore. Counterproductive, we can hear music everywhere, people watch this type of stuff to hear nature, no need for generic music. Thanks and good job, you get great video shots, this was the only complain that i had!
Hi mate! this is constructive criticism and I really appreciate it, thank you for the taking the time to express this in detail. I totally agree with you. This was one of my earlier videos and my editing has improved over time, so I wonder if you find the same issue in one of the more recent videos? I'd love to hear your thoughts as music balance in the sense of volume and also amount, and also type of music etc, are constantly at the forefront of my editing priorities. Appreciate the input brother!
Living in the city we forget how beautiful nature is. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next one.

Hi cassia sorry about that I think the links broke, I need to recheck them. Will try to fix them! Thanks for commenting
@@EzeAdventurer I appreciate that very much!
I updated the links, hope this helps!
@@EzeAdventurer you're a legend. Thank you so much!
Fantastic do you mind telling us what the name of the company that hired the Canoe was smashing video
Hi thanks! This was my own canoe but you can check out Hereford canoe hire or wye valley canoes are awesome too!
@@EzeAdventurer awesome! Thank alot!
Nice video really enjoyable can I ask what model of silver birch cano is this you are using looks perfect thanks...colin 👌☀️🛶👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it brother ! It's the Silverbirch Broadland 15 Duralite! I love it!
@@EzeAdventurer thank you 👍🏻👌🛶
Great video, awesome videography and drone skills! Want to do this trip myself this year!
What time of year did you do this? Bet it was cold with that frost? 🥶
Also what is the larger dry bag your using?
Hi buddy thanks so much and glad you liked it! This was in April - definitely cold that morning with the frost, and the moisture in the air from the river makes it feel colder I think - but it's wonderful nonetheless and no reason to delay going!

Both highly recommended!
Thank you much appreciated. Are you on Instagram too?
@@dpfisherman No social media :-) ! ATB, Eze.
Do they actually allow canoe fishing on those stretches?
@@davidryan7848 Fight for your god-given rights buddy! Much love!
Is it legal to make such camping? Or do you need to take a permit from the landlord?
There's a lot of conflicting rules around. As far as I'm concerned I camped on the river itself, which belongs to nobody. I left no trace and needed that stop for the night to rest in order to complete my journey. Camping in private property is not allowed.
Amazing!! As I'm watching this I think of the time you must have spent editing it and making it look so fantastic. Bravo
Million dollar question - how did that water taste? :)
Hey Ayaz! Editing does take significant time :-) but I love doing it and sharing the experience - thanks for watching it!
The water tasted absolutely delicious, way better than any bottled stuff I guarantee you! When I went home, I was missing the taste of it! So fresh, cold, beautiful!
Where was this? What country, city etc?
UK, River Wye, it's in Wales. Border of Wales and England.
great video, just sub'd you.
Thanks for the sub! That's awesome bud!
Get rid of the music and it would be better
Appreciate your opinion and I often debate this myself (whether to put it or not)! I may do a Poll at some stage to ask the viewers as a whole what they think. Thanks for watching buddy!
Very cool how you're getting your water from the river. I've never used one of those types of filters but they look excellent. You make me want to get another canoe 🛶🙂👍🏻
Hahah what canoe do you have? The filter is great, but would recommend the Sawyer squeeze (not the mini as shown in this video). It's much better!
Lol from one addiction to another. I'm with you on that one!!!@@granularSodacan
@@EzeAdventurer 😆 addiction is definitely the right word haha
lol tell me about it!!@@granularSodacan
