Level 10 (Refueling Base) - 3% of health after taking the rocket launcher. Level 28 (Spirit World) - 4% of health, two times!!! Congratulations to Decino in connection of finishing the Doom II NM-Max series!!!
I've been playing along, and it's finally gotten me motivated enough to beat Sigil and Doom 2 on Ultra Violence. Great stuff, really interesting seeing Decino's nightmare playthrough after I've done the map.
2:16 "Enemy Showcase" or "Enemy Roster" to be simplistic and "Cast Sequence" is what it's officialky called, but the more appropriate term is "Rogue's Gallery"; originally meaning a collection of mugshots held by police, now also refers to the villain set for a particular hero in comicbooks.
Just wanted to give out a small support for your work, did not expect for my empty comment to actually appear in the video 😳 Anyway both Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 on Nightmare were very fun series to watch, congratulations on the achievement!
Another conclusion to an epic run. As usual, I really enjoyed these runs and your commentary. Keep it up - not sure what’s next but if you seen TNT Evo or Plutonia, I’ll scream… or master levels… wink wink. Nonetheless, I’ll be there!
Congrats, Decino, you did it... not that there was any doubt about it. This was a really fun journey and I am certain I'd be rewatching the entire series, from E1M1 to MAP30, at some point. Lots of memorable moments in there. So, what next... it goes without saying that we're all hoping for a complete Final Doom run, but I understand some parts seem pretty daunting ('cough' Stronghold 'cough'), although, on the other hand, you'd be the envy of the whole community, if you manage to pull it off. I, for one, believe you can, even if it takes a lot of, ahem, calmness. Again, congratulations, warrior!
I imagine a Final Doom N100S playthrough is not in our near future, because of just how nuts some of those levels are, but this was still an incredibly fun series to watch!
And of course the Doom-god himself, Zero Master, just uploaded his TNT N100S single-segment run soon after you comment this. Plutonia seems to be next.
This was really cool. Hope to see you try TNT, Plutonia, and No rest for the living in nightmare. I think the SSG does help a lot, The megasphere, and the chaingunner also helps. You get early chainguns instead of searching for it around the map
You also get energy weapons earlier and more often. As opposed to Doom 1, where they were held back til later episodes as incentive to register the game (and even there they were a bit scarce).
Congrats, and thank you for making this series. In a way, it helped me get through a very difficult time in my life by giving me something to look forward to and keeping my mind of things. Keep up the good work!!
If you do continue with Nightmare I'd love to see you tackle No Rest For The Living- I think it might pose more of a challenge than Doom II but also wouldn't be as ridiculous as Plutonia.
I feel that Doom 2 levels are more spacious and also energy weapons show up more frequently, that also helps. Btw, I've been doing some testing with AAliens and coop_spawns and it seems very doable. Got to map 6 so far. There's only a few extra enemies, but it has some nasty surprises. I think you'll like it :)
This whole series got me back into playing doom and inspired me to beat Doom 1 and 2 on UV for the first time, this time in Crispy Doom. These routes were a lot of help even on UV.
Watching this and your DooM 1 series made me finally decide to buy these games and it gave me a new perspective on just how good you are. Can’t wait for Plutonia Nightmare 100% Items and Secrets.
6:20 looking back at your Doom and Doom II runs, I actually think one of the main reasons why Doom feels harder than Doom II on Nightmare is that Doom II is often more generous with power-ups. In fact, the toughest spots in Doom were: - Most of episode 1, where the maps don't contain that many power-ups, because they're not needed on UV - E2M5 and E4M1, since they give little to no health power-ups - E4M6, which contains no armour whatsoever On the other hand, Doom II features some pretty high-tier-heavy maps like map 6 or 27, but they're filled with invulnerabilities, megaspheres and what not. In map 28 you spend most of the time being invincible, no Doom map allows something like that
"They held back on hitscanners" Aside from Underhalls lol. I think part of it is that Doom II is usually less cramped, so even when there's Pinky spam you tend to have room to maneuver around them. Whereas in Doom you're often dealing with the hordes of Pinkies in tight spaces. Doom II also didn't withhold the energy weapons like Doom did (I suspect with the first game, id wanted people to register to be able to get those legitimately). The SSG undoubtedly does help, not only with Pinkies but also with making things like Zombiemen, Shotgunners, Chaingunners, and Imps go away quickly; it also gives you something else to use on heavies and medium-heavies. The Megasphere isn't to be discounted either.
Of cause, thank you for the great playthrough, i have really a good time following the nightmare series, and thank you for sharing the most difficult 5 maps with us!
Barrels O Fun has that one Pinky trap. The big difference I'd say is that Doom and Sigil have a lot more close quarters maps with no SSG so combating Pinkies is tougher because you have 2-3 shots of Shotgun, or stunlocking with chaingun. Doom 2 has a lot of open "city maps" where pinkys will run rampant but you can run around them. Another thing is that Plutonia perfected the monster combat challenges - Archviles, Revanents, and Chaingunners are a great combination and having them in droves in open maps is what pincushions you. Doom II was afraid to use Archviles and only had a few revanent traps. Also Chaingunners were common but not as much as shotgunners, imps, or even Cacos.
You are arguably the biggest reason I decided to get DOOM 1/2 last week after months (years?) of listening to Mick Gordon and subsequently devouring your content. About half my life ago as a teenager I played Wolfenstein, then skipped to Dark Forces, Half-Life, and Jedi Knight before my interest in FPS waned. DOOM is quite naturally the missing piece from my childhood. Thank you.
I recently started playing the classic Dooms at around the same time your nightmare series began. I had played through Doom 1 and 2 in Brutal Doom almost 10 years ago but didn't really enjoy it or understand why people liked it so much. So, in order to get the achievements in Doom 3 BFG edition, I decided to go through it again. I definitely enjoyed my time a lot more this time than 10 years ago. Thanks for kind of inspiring me to actual go through these games again.
Well done Pumpkin Man, this series has been truly inspiring!! (I've been trying to play through DOOM 1 on Nightmare myself, hoping to emulate my hero Decino, but for now I'm still stuck on E1M3, ahahah. Oh well, wish me luck. I still have fun every time I play!)
Congrats on finishing Doom I and II on Nightmare + 100% items! Regarding difficulty, I think... it's just different for what everyone considers challenging. For some it's hitscanners, for others it's platforming, or Revenants, Archviles, Cyberdemons, etc. Also the more you play Doom, the more your own experience changes the difficulty. For example, I used to struggle against Archviles the most, but PWADs and their overuse of the enemy have given me so much experience fighting them that I no longer mind them (unless the map designer is awful and puts them someplace with no cover in a large open area or whatever lol). I also used to panic at Pain Elementals, but once I learned their quirks and how to take them down quickly, I somehow went from panicking to enjoying fighting them! Revenants are the one holdout that still kill me more than everything else combined, with Mancubi being a distant second place (In three decades I still have never gotten their fireball pattern down >.
Congrats on finishing Doom II! You've done a magnificent job and turned this person who'd never touched a Doom game really ever into a real fan of the series! Thank you so much!
It's a combination of space, infighting, and superior weaponry. Maps in doom 2 largely have more room to move around, 3 imps in a tight corridor is way more dangerous than 20 in a large arena (compare e1m3 and map18 for example). In fighting happens more in doom2 because of the larger variety of demons, and more importantly meaningful infights, a couple hitscannetrs killing each other doesnt matter they'll just fight for a second and respawn, but say a mancubus vs a cacodemon will occupy them both for half a minute. And arsenal, you get plasma weapons (and ammo) constantly from map 5 onwards. Going from chaingun main weapon in d1 to plasma in d2 is an enormous upgrade, throw in the ssg and it's no contest, d1 is much tougher on nightmare. Map 26 killed you the most because these conditions were lessened: cramped environment, mostly cacos and imps so little infighting, and you arent drowning in cells.
Congrats finishing Doom 2 on nightmare difficulty! Your vid’s made me play all Doom series again, along with the new (mega)wads. Echt supervet om te zien!! Greets, een 40jarige game-daddy 😉
Congratulations on completing and NM maxing the Classic Doom games from the major line! 🏆 It was definitely a very interesting adventure, and it will for sure motivate people to try themselves in walking through the Doom + TFC + Sigil and Doom II levels on the Nightmare! difficulty! 🌟 I would be glad to see the NM 100% series of Final Doom now 😅
Congratulations on finishing your Nightmare series! The "plus secrets PLUS items" self-imposed challenge gimmick made the routes interesting, and even while denied any quiet moment to collect your thoughts, the live commentary remained informative and entertaining throughout.
I imagining Doom Guy is sleeping Mario 2 style as the Doom enemies scroll up as he goes back to sleep, and it’s pretty fun. Excellent work, decino, you drove them all back to hecc.
Ok guys, its been a blast, Decino thank you for such a fun series, cant say im happy it ended but im thrilled to see whats coming in the future. Thats a funny tought, now that nightmare gave you super reflexes, Decino is gonna be doing the quicksilver scene with every proyectile and enemies that are not nightmare level. Great times, looking forward, thanks for such great vids, byeeee
decino, you utterly destroyed Doom II on its hardest difficulty when I struggle on Hurt Me Plenty. You make it look so easy. I salute you. No try TNT Evilution 😁
Congrats on beating this Decino. No doubts in my head that you would accomplish this. And on the final map... it's crazy how much of a joke this final boss is. Honestly it would probably be pretty threatening if it just had more HP. At least the explosion is really cool! Personally, I would still recommend Master Levels on Nightmare just cause I still think it's a funny idea but I do realize you probably have other projects you want / need to get to.
This was such a fun run to watch. Going for all items + chainsaw really spiced things up. I'm really looking forward to when you eventually do TNT and Plutonia on Nightmare. Damn, that doesn't sound painful at all :D
I came to this channel for funny yellow background game analysis. I don't know what happened, but the next thing I realized was suddenly I got (almost) all of your doom 2 nightmare episodes watched. I don't even play this game. What. In any case, congrats for the completion!
wow I wasn't expecting this video to be 13 minutes long :D I thought "man he died often on this level" but it was just you 12 minutes talking :D got me there! but I enjoyed every second of it. Congrats on beating Doom II on Nightmare 100% :) Plutonia next?
Congrats on accomplishing this. I'll be honest, before this video series I just assumed Nightmare was impossible and was a mode for masochists or speedrunners. Great series, love the vibes of the channel, and I look forward to seeing what's next
The time has come. At long last, the Decino Nightmare Saga, the Decinodyssey, if you will, has come to a close. May we all pray to the Doom gods that he bestows us with content at the same exquisite level of quality in the future. May your toast be perfectly golden every time.
Close spaces of DOOM vs big rooms of DOOM 2 is probably what makes the biggest difference. But again, the best way to analyze this would be to basically watch death compilation of both playthtoughs and see HOW you died most of the times.
Since this year is also going to be your 5th year anniversary of when you started uploading, It would be cool to celebrate it by revisiting Hell Revealed. I wondered if playing through the WAD on Nightmare! is reasonably possible, so I played through some of it (On Ultra Violence) to judge. I watched your Hell Revealed videos as I Beat each video's respective level. Knockout and Last Look at Eden (the one I stopped at as the map as a whole and a CERTAIN trap room killed my motivation to continue playing the wad, but I will continue at some point) were most certainly red flags. The Problems with Knockout being how you have very little ammo and the part that spawns in 23 sextillion imps, among other things. with Last Look at Eden, it's just the immense amount of enemies to deal with respawning, and said CERTAIN trap room. Midway through Underground Base, I had a bad feeling when I came over to the room with the BFG with the huge phalanx of pinkies kept at bay by a monster blocking linedef, however, it just has the BFG, so I figured it wouldn't be a concern, unless that BFG would be vital. Not sure if it would be possible to beat Hell Revealed on Nightmare! (from my judgement, probably not), but if it isn't then perhaps you could play Hell Revealed with fast monsters? Regardless It would be cool to see you revisit Hell Revealed, especially how much better you got at commentary since 2018.
Thank you for Doom Nightmare run videos. They were excellent entertainment. I was eagerly waiting them everyday 🙂 I don't know about Doom 1 being harder. Most of the maps of E2, E3 and even E4 seemed to be cakewalks to you. E1 and Sigil (do you include it when you talk about Doom 1?) seemed to be slightly more difficult episodes with some really hard maps. We usually remember only first and last impressions, so perhaps E1 and Sigil left "wrong impressions" on your Doom 1 run.
Any% single segment runs of Doom 1 and 2 sounds really interesting as a stream, actually. It'll show your proficiency and creativity in routing on the fly.
I'm trying to understand why Doom 1 might be harder than Doom 2. Probably the Super Shotgun + the wider open spaces. I think you hit the nail on the head regarding the hitscanners. The chaingunners didn't seem to be as troublesome as the SS Tier ranking might suggest in your other video.
The Ultimate Doom has some levels that are harder than any levels on Doom 2. E4M1 and E4M6, if we don't count E4 then E1M3, or E1M6. E2M5, too. E3M7 has a vile beginning section. Generally, Doom 1 monster and map design usually disallows you from running past your danger, and you're stuck with a shotgun mostly.
Would love to see a tier-list video on the Nightmare levels (Like the old monster tier list). Difficulty, enjoyment, nonsense, anything really, I'd just love a condensed video talking about the run
Kudos to you man! Kudos to you! 🎉 Honestly, I don’t know what to say but your series in nightmare like doom and doom ii is really remarkable, it really is. For the next doom series in nightmare: there’s Doom II: No Rest for the living, TNT Evilution (I’ll love to see how you going to react to maps like Habitat and Mount Pain, it’ll be hilarious,😅), the Plutonia Experiment. For the future, there’s sigil ii coming up at the end of the year, so that’s exciting. Maybe a doom ii sequel by John Romero if it is the case, you’ll probably have to ask John Romero himself about that, I just heard rumors about it. And maybe master levels for doom ii in nightmare, I don’t know, I’m curious to know what you think. So, thank you for this series and congratulations pumpkin man! 🎉🎉❤❤
Nightmare difficulty is very unpredictable. The levels 23 and 26 gave the greatest death scores, though they look very average. Also I was very surprised, that Decino completed the levels 14, 19, and especially the level 29 at first try.

Level 18 (Courtyard) - 1.
Level 22 (Catacombs) - 5.
Level 23 (Barrels of Fun) - 8.
Level 26 (Abandoned Mines) - 11.
Total: 40.
All other 23 levels were completed at first try.
Some close-to-death moments.
Level 10 (Refueling Base) - 3% of health after taking the rocket launcher.
Level 28 (Spirit World) - 4% of health, two times!!!
Congratulations to Decino in connection of finishing the Doom II NM-Max series!!!
Now I know how many times John romero drank decino's tears lmao!
@@Cyber_Mastermind And after decino finished Doom 2 he smiled smugly and said "No More Tears" 🤘
@@txcrix9236 LMAO ikr!
The man who not only beat doom 2 in nightmare, he also beat the real john romero. A true doom player. Well done!
Not so fast, what if Romero respawns on nightmare?
@@meanmole3212 That just means he's Decino's reusable target practice.
The nightmare series has been a wonderful part of my day the past months. Has gotten me to play and appreciate a lot more doom lately. Cheers!
Good stuff.
I've been playing along, and it's finally gotten me motivated enough to beat Sigil and Doom 2 on Ultra Violence. Great stuff, really interesting seeing Decino's nightmare playthrough after I've done the map.
Same. It's had me revisit some old levels as well.
Another run on Nightmare that has fallen to the mighty Slayer Decino. This was such a great series of videos. Amazing job Decino!!
Doom guy, not slayer.....
Eh, I'd say the official "Cast Sequence" name is more appropriate since that's what it's structured like - plus it ends on "Our Hero".
Just wanted to give out a small support for your work, did not expect for my empty comment to actually appear in the video 😳 Anyway both Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 on Nightmare were very fun series to watch, congratulations on the achievement!
Just wanted to say I appreciate your doom videos
Congrats on beating the entire game on Nightmare, my man! I love Doom but I could never accomplish this! You did it!
Every video of this series boosted my mood...Thanks.
Looking forward to more great quality doom stuff.
Congratulations! Please make more videos diving into Doom engine's internals, even if those don't affect gameplay mechanics (like, rendering, etc.)
I'm always working on them, but they take a lot of time to make.
Congratulations!!! Ultimate Doom & Doom II NM100SI completed!!
Thanks for being the soundtrack for many hours of work and play.
Thank you! I was stuck on this mission for TWO whole months. Finally got it (:
Joking ofc. Love your approach at making videos on hard doom wads and full walkthroughs on them. As good as it was day 1. Keep em coming dude!

Oooo, Doom Evilution on Nightmare would be exciting! Decino can pull it off for sure - he completed Sunlust!

No Rest for the Living would be a fine transition to The Plutonia Experiment, with TNT: Evilution following after.
I imagine a Final Doom N100S playthrough is not in our near future, because of just how nuts some of those levels are, but this was still an incredibly fun series to watch!

@@Glass_Desert I thought that was MAP09? Ah well, we're on the same page anyways, we're talking about the one with like 270 hitscanners.
@@SyRose901 yep, it's map09
I wanna see TNT: Evilution N100 Kills, Items, & Secrets.

i love it when you die while the icon is alive and the rocket kills it after you die but you still win
Thanks for all your recent nightmare runs, starting with NERF. This was quite refreshing and different to the usual Doom videos!

In fact, the toughest spots in Doom were:
- Most of episode 1, where the maps don't contain that many power-ups, because they're not needed on UV
- E2M5 and E4M1, since they give little to no health power-ups
- E4M6, which contains no armour whatsoever
On the other hand, Doom II features some pretty high-tier-heavy maps like map 6 or 27, but they're filled with invulnerabilities, megaspheres and what not. In map 28 you spend most of the time being invincible, no Doom map allows something like that
Can't wait for TNT and Plutonia

Thanks for your great work! Stay as you are!

Wow, that fight was intense. Can’t believe you survived!
Awesome 👌 👏 thank you for doing all of doom 2 it was really great 😊
Congrats on beating this Decino. No doubts in my head that you would accomplish this.
And on the final map... it's crazy how much of a joke this final boss is. Honestly it would probably be pretty threatening if it just had more HP. At least the explosion is really cool!
Personally, I would still recommend Master Levels on Nightmare just cause I still think it's a funny idea but I do realize you probably have other projects you want / need to get to.
good job decino i havent watched all ur videos on this but good job on completing doom 2 on nightmare
This was such a fun run to watch. Going for all items + chainsaw really spiced things up.
I'm really looking forward to when you eventually do TNT and Plutonia on Nightmare. Damn, that doesn't sound painful at all :D
Wow wow wow! I have been looking forward to this 🍿🧡 great work 👏
What a pleasure! Thanks for the fun.
I came to this channel for funny yellow background game analysis. I don't know what happened, but the next thing I realized was suddenly I got (almost) all of your doom 2 nightmare episodes watched. I don't even play this game. What.
In any case, congrats for the completion!
What will plutonia look like in nightmare 100% pistol start
Extra hell!
My prediction is a lot of outtakes. Maybe nothing but outtakes?
It will look like success with female cosplayers at QuakeCon 2023, as Civvie would say
Go2it will be fun lol
Or tnt evilotion
Great job decino. The Nightmare is finally over. It has been a fun run and I look forward to whatever you have next. I'll take my :deciheart: now plz.
I’d call the ending showcase of all the monsters as either a “curtain call” or a “roll call”
wow I wasn't expecting this video to be 13 minutes long :D I thought "man he died often on this level" but it was just you 12 minutes talking :D got me there! but I enjoyed every second of it. Congrats on beating Doom II on Nightmare 100% :) Plutonia next?
Bravo! The ultimate challenge for the classic IWADs is complete.
But again, the best way to analyze this would be to basically watch death compilation of both playthtoughs and see HOW you died most of the times.
this has been awesome watching the nightmare videos
Yay, weries end, so I can finally watch the entire playthrough without worrying I'll run out of videos in the middle
THE MOMENT I'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
I'm shaking and crying, congrats on 100% 😭🤘
Since this year is also going to be your 5th year anniversary of when you started uploading, It would be cool to celebrate it by revisiting Hell Revealed.
Congratulations Decino. Looking forward for Ultimate Doom runs.
Thank you for Doom Nightmare run videos. They were excellent entertainment. I was eagerly waiting them everyday 🙂
I don't know about Doom 1 being harder.
This whole run was a blast, thanks a bunch decino 💖
Good job, full nightmare run Decino.
Congratz on finishing doom on nightmare!
Nice touch having the turbo pinkie on the enemy roster when you beat it on Nightmare mode.
Cast Call is the name of the ending showcase you're looking for :p
Good Nightmare run though. Congrats my dude~
Awesome series, thanks for the vids
As usual, another Doom series falls to Decino! Can't wait to see what you have coming next.
Good luck on beating the Master Levels or even both episodes of Final Doom on Nightmare!
For the next doom series in nightmare: there’s Doom II: No Rest for the living, TNT Evilution (I’ll love to see how you going to react to maps like Habitat and Mount Pain, it’ll be hilarious,😅), the
Plutonia Experiment. 🎉🎉❤❤
TNT MAP02 and 9 will be an absolute nightmare.
@@theforeignspear27 yeah, but if decino beats doom and doom ii in nightmare, he can do the other wads as well.
Good stuff as always, pumpkin head Doom guy! I hope for TNT and Plutonia nightmare run in the future.
