- In 1951, Doggett organized his own trio and began recording for King Records. He won the Cash Box award for best rhythm and blues performer in 1957, 1958, and 1959. He also arranged for many bandleaders and performers, including Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Lionel Hampton.
Just one song of an hour of jump, jazz and jive!Go to GoYeahGoRadio @ / goyeahgoradio and click the link to JUMP THAT JIVE RADIO! Volume 2! One hour of jump, jazz and jive by Slick Eddie!
Back in 1967 I played in a San Diego local band that played Bill Dogget's "Honky Tonk." The infectious rhythm of the Honky Tonk groove is still unforgettable today. I love the guitar playing too...actually, I love all of it. Damn...it's the real deal.
Jamming this with my father today 👌🏽✌🏽💓💓
Love it.
-Diiig it! Sounds more like mid 1950s than 64!
Bill Doggett rules. So great, so cool.

Clifford Scott of San Antonio?...he played often at Antone's in Austin back in the mid-late '80s and was AWESOME!...those WERE the Days!
Steve Howle yes that's him .....That's my Paw paw. He used to play around me as a lil girl all the time. When I hear him I know it's him.
You Lucky Gal!.... where are you now?
Steve Howle My mom (His Daughter) and I both live in a town right outside of Houston named Crosby. We are all that's left from his marriage to my Grandma in San Antonio.
Wish I were still the Travlin' 'Man I was...Houston was my territory....Id like to buy You two lunch at the Goode Co BBQ. ....I'll bet you have some stories to hear!....is Carol Fran still alive? Her Excello Label "Knock-Knock" was Houston's Best Sound...(along with Etta, Johnny Watson, and The Duke Record Label, like Bobby Bland with Wayne Bennett on Guitar!) the 50s and 60s were before my time, but Houston had "found-the Sound"!
Glad to find another fan of "Knock Knock" which I used to hear om WLAC- Nashville, TN 50+ years ago. Always loved that song!
Man listen to those horns!!!!!!!!! Grabs a chick outta here and starts dancing all over RUclips! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!

The tenor solo sounds like "Prez" on the first few bars.
It's Gary Owen.
I played this in a strip club in Orlando in 66.
Awsome time on the orange blossom trail.

Anybody want to go skating at Melody Skateland?
We're going to a little break, so don't nobody go nowhere! 😉
This is my fav groove-time side from that era...I bought a fender bass in 1958 and played along with Doggett's 45 RPM singles. ruclips.net/video/mBrT6rVwh8g/видео.html
What the hell the saxophone player run out of air?🦄🦄😎🦄🦄👍👍💛💙❤💜🧡💚✌✌
Could you upload the other side Part II?
Sonny Liston used to train to this tune.
This is cool but James Brown put tha FUNK in his version . Thank you Mr.Brown for doing that.📻🎵🎶🎵🎶🎤😉
But it's not better than this. His comes off as a lame cover, complete with his lame introduction.
@@richsackett3423 I think James added his own lyrics in '62 & Bill did an instrumental 2 yrs later , but they both come from the '52 song by Wynonie Harris.🙂
@@frankmartinez3020 Proceeded by the original in 1951 by Jimmy Forrest.
@@richsackett3423 👍 Thanks 🙂
James Brown version is best Jimmy Forrest tune is dry. James Brown band was very soulful.
Make the speed “1.25” faster sounds much better your welcome!
Mitico 45 giri avevo 16 anni ma senza offesa mi piace più quella di duanne eddy ciao
The late great Sonny Liston used to train to this, or did none of you know this?
I have heard the same..
If you wanna lose your money...
@@Myndir I do...
Sounds a lot like Louis Prima
Georgie Fames version was slightly faster
I love this version but James brown is the best version
Brown is not even close.
Tommy Truth why do you say that ?
Tommy Truth lol How can you say that ?James Brown’s version was much better. Besides, if this was on King records in 1964 you can bet James Brown has something to do with this version also.
Some cat thought he was Irish…
is being played at wrong speed.
Night Train is the best strip tease song of all time.
