    Is the HC-X2000 the same cameras you used to record this video????

  • @soundhobo
    @soundhobo 4 года назад +5

    I have the X2000 and like it very much and my GH5 and lenses often get left at home these days. I won’t lie it does have its limitations, mainly due to the sensor size and that’s enough to quite rightly put a lot of people off but it’s form and many features make it very useful tool and very useable for me. I’m enjoying making video again.

    A couple of really important points missed here:
    - the battery runs the camera for almost 4 hours per charge! That is amazing.
    - the record button has no audio tone to indicate record/standby status when pressed. This, and the fact that the button has no tactile feedback means I end up with *lots* of footage of my shoes and often miss important shots. This is the WORST feature of this camera and is almost a deal-breaker for me.

    If you don't know and don't need SDI video port X2000 doesn't make sense to buy. You can buy X1500 + handle, it will be cheaper. Or just X1500.
    They are absolutely the same with only difference is SDI port, that probably you will never ever use.

    Cool video.
    I would just like to add a couple o corrections. The sensor size is less the half inch. It's 1/2.5". Not a massive difference I know. More importantly the information that camera can only record 10bit in 4.2.2 to external sources isn't correct. It can record 4.2.2 internally up to 30 FPS.

    Great video, thanks. I'm looking for a prosumer camcorder for family filming (inside and outside the home) and the odd holiday, ideally 4k/60fps. Previously always used camcorders with much lower spec but over the last 2 years have used an iphone but really miss using a camcorder. Do you think this camcorder would be suitable (due to its portability) for that or is it overkill? Am looking at this against the Sony FDR-AX700 which I know is only 4k/30fps but am torn as this camcorder looks really good.

    When using XLR microphone the audio is recorded on one channel, left or right, is that normal?

      You can have Input 1 go to ch1, or ch 1 and ch 2. The sound settings on the handle are very flexible. Phantom power or not. Auto gain or manul, etc.

    Could anyone tell me how this compares to the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K? I've been trying to find comparisons but they don't seem to exist right now :(
    I feel like I would need to spend a lot more after the fact to buy extras for the pocket camera (lens, handle, cage etc) to bring it to the same functionality as the Panasonic.

    • @mirekkoranda

      I think BMPCC is more about artistic filming - much better depth of field with proper lens, significant colors etc. Panasonic is to be always prepared for fast shooting with OK quality of picture.

    Notice how nobody mentions low light?

    • @lonebeagle
      @lonebeagle 2 года назад

      Because it's not terribly relevant to all users in all the places where this camcorder will be used. I've got my X-1500 on my desk in front of me, and with 18 dB of gain, the images still can look great. People like to pick apart this camera or that camera by focusing on ONE aspect--SMALL censor, LOW LIGHT, buttons too small, ect ect ect....
      Here's a thought, why don't people figure out ways around hardware limitations or environmental obstacles? In the old days, how many "flaws" and limitations did the old 16mm cameras have? What about the audio limitations? That's right, you needed an expensive tape recorder just to record sound!

  • @Jandewitamateurfilm

      As this camera has a smaller sensor, this may not be the right fit for you, maybe an S5 would give you the drop you require? That said if you zoom out its still v easy to get a nice separation on the X2000, ta Jim

      @@nadindostudio9224 Its sensor size dependant, with a smaller sensor more focal length zoom is required, its a v personal choice, you should try both to see what suits you more? S5 really does not overheat at all! 8 Bit internal 4K is unlimited, 10 bit internal has a 30 min limit, but it will restart and record without issue again and again ; )

      @@nadindostudio9224 I got some pretty good bokeh with the HC-X2000: ruclips.net/video/FuwTB8BdkMo/видео.html - With it being a tiny sensor, you're limited and it's all based on how close you are to the subject, but it's not like you can't get any bokeh. I highly recommend this camcorder as a side camera to a larger sensor camera like an S5 or in my case the GH5 with 10-25mm f/1.7 lens or the Sigma zooms (which I had at one point) or whatever else you prefer.

    A very, very limited camcorder due to its sensor size. Outdoors is great, but as soon as you go indoors - oh dear, the noise is alarming. It's no better than an iPhone.

      @@BPS-tvcouk No joke, a Panasonic GH5 with the (admittedly expensive but nice) native 10-25mm f/1.7 lens as your standard setup with respectable low light and bokeh, along with this camcorder as your secondary (and often a-cam depending on the situation) is a slick combination. This is actually what I'm using now. I liked this review because it was fun and casual; everyone looking at this camera usually can get all the details everywhere else. I now also have the Weebill S gimbal; your budget "Michael Bay" shots are possible haha! I'm addicted to the built in ND filters on this camcorder; if Panasonic does make a GH6, I hope it has a built in ND filter system too. I drive a lorry across the country (we call them trucks here in the US), and I like to have a small setup for travel. I also want to do some work on the side professionally. I think if you light shots decently well you can actually use this camcorder as the wide shot (at f/1.8 for maximum light gathering) in an interview setting! You wouldn't have much bokeh but that's a fine tradeoff. Then the GH5 or S5 as your tighter camera. I considered the Panasonic 100-400 lens for MFT and yes, that is an incredible lens, but when you're out in the forest, the camcorder is just more versatile in my opinion, as the equivalent 200mm at the wide end of the 100-400 makes the lens a bit specialized. And ... the ND filters on the camcorder, as I said ... I love it :)

    lots of nice bla bla, but just show us low light capability. And at 16:16 then zoom starts its clearly visible picture deformation-squeeze

    • @lonebeagle
      @lonebeagle 2 года назад +1

      Hey, if the low light capabilities of this camera bothers you, don't buy one. No $2000 4K 10 bit camcorder can be expected to do everything great. Tell you what, find me another small, $2000 camcorder that can do 4k 10 bit recording internally. If the scene is dark, go get a light.
