Dear Michelle, Thank you for an enjoyable flosstube. A bothy is a small, basic shelter. They were built originally for estate farm workers in remote hilly areas. Most bothies are in Scotland although they are found in northern England, N. Ireland and Wales too. Left unlocked, and free to use they have now become havens for mountain walkers. Really like your "O Come Let us Adore Him" finish and love the bow finishes and will be watching Vonna's tutorial for that. When I iron interfacing onto my projects, I use a plastic-like sheet that you can buy from any quilt shop and it works great. The sticky gets on the sheet and peels right off. But I do clean my iron regularly. Safe trucking and stitching on your next trip! Dottie
You have been busy, all your ornament finishes are wonderful and I love how you share all your tips, tricks, where you get ideas and inspiration from! I also use the thin Pellon interfacing on my pieces before I finish them into ornaments. I never use the iron directly on the Pellon, I just keep an old piece of cotton fabric from my stash that I am not using in a quilt or anything, and that becomes my pressing cloth over the Pellon. As a result, you do not need to worry about your iron or cleaning it. I keep the fabric with the Pellon, so it's handy to grab when I need it. Good luck! :)
As always I enjoyed your video. Loved seeing your finishes and look forward to seeing more next time. Here is a trick for pressing interfacing to your stitching. Purchase a man’s plain white cotton handkerchief. I have several backups. Place your stitching face down on your ironing board place the interfacing next and then the unfolded men hankie. Use your hot iron like you normally would. Best to lift and press your iron at first rather sliding across at first. Once the interfacing has adhered a bit you can then press. Works like a charm. Keeps you iron clean. The men’s cotton hankies can be washed and used over and over again. 😊 Miriam in West Texas.

The beaded edge is beautiful….many years ago, The Sunflower Seed designs used beaded edges similarly on their flat ornaments using seed beads. They were so beautiful. I did the technique (it was shared how to do in a Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue) on an ornament once…gave it away. It was stunning. Never have done it again, I need to though because STUNNING!
The paper that comes with the interfacing, lay that on your work then place your iron on top of that paper and you won’t need to clean your iron every time. I always utilize the paper that comes with the interfacing. It’s the paper with instructions on it. Happy stitching
You could use a piece of grease proof paper between your iron and the interfacing or a sheet of silicone baking paper. Iron on the grease proof or silicon to avoid contact with the interfacing and your iron should stay clean. Beautiful work as always, Michelle.

Hi. Just a tip. When ironing interfacing... just use a plastic applique sheet. I bought mine on Amazon. It is ironable and keeps the glue from the iron. It is cool.

Love all your finishes, especially the Mr and Mrs Claus! I use the same interfacing you do for my pillow finishes. I have flour sack towels from Tom Holtz. They’re large, then cotton square basically. I put that between my iron and the piece so I don’t get anything on my iron. They’re thin enough that the heat easily gets through. I’m not sure if the Tim Holtz ones are available anymore but you can get flour sack towels in lots of places online. Just saves you having to clean the iron. I was also fortunate to get the Judith Kirby patterns from Stitch N Time in Saginaw, MI last year. It’s the shop that got the rights to her patterns. Google says they’re still open but that could be wrong.
The vegetable seed packets you showed are very similar to a big piece I stitched back in the 90s so it must be the same designer. My design came out of a magazine. Regarding your iron, I use parchment paper between my iron and the interfacing. I do the same thing if I’m using fusible web as it protects my iron from getting the glue on my iron. Great finishes! love the variety of stitches as well as finishing trims. Press clothes are also an option, especially when using fusible products. I have a fine cloth, almost looks like interfacing itself, that is put out by Dritz for this purpose. I use a linen dish towel for my pressing cloth when pressing my stitched pieces. Can't wait to see more finishes and what you decide to start.
Lots of inspirational finishes. Will definitely be having a look at Helen Ds tutorial, thanks. I use baking paper between the iron and interfacing. Doesn't burn, you can see through it, can be used multiple times and always on hand.
My husband drives truck too. I like to take small when I go. I love the truck ornament. Love the Halloween houses. I will have to investigate this and see if I can find them.
I bought the Swan Lake pattern today. I used to volunteer in the costume department of our ballet company and would love to do some of these as individual ornaments.

My interfacing says to use a pressing cl9th. Also, bounce sheets are great for cleaning your iron. You just iron the bounce sheet. It is fast and smells good, too. L9ve your finishing. I love cut thru design and one of jy first pieces was a Halloween House by Tiny Modernist.
Very Cute Finishes! I need to try the Beads, her tutorial was great. Love the Teresa Kogut chart. Nice change. Cracked is way better than Blown, so great he can do the replacement repair. Always have a X-stitch bag ready to roll. Agree, interfacing can be messy, little bits onto the iron's plate.
Your ornaments all turned out beautifully. When I am using any kind of interfacing I always use a pressing cloth. (I make a lot of bags etc.. so I have an iron just for interfacing) A piece of muslin will work. And then when it gets yucky you can throw it in the washer, don’t forget to use pinking shears on the edges, it will help with fraying. Or you can actually buy a pressing cloth at Joanns where the irons are, they are really nice. Happy Stitching and safe travels to you and your hubby! Rebecca

Another thing I do for interfacing is using a cheap iron only for that purpose. I have an older, very inexpensive iron that works with steam or dry. Great video.
Your finishes are really inspiring. I need to get busy stitching! I’m searching for the short eye lash trim you used on several of your ornaments. It’s the perfect length. I can only find long eyelash yarn. Where did you find the short eyelash trim please?
Your finishes are beautiful. I buy the cheaper pillows from Wal-Mart and use the fiberfill from them. So much cheaper than bags of fiberfill and I like the product. I love the chicken cut through because I do have a thing for chickens. I have over a hundred chicken and rooster collectibles, mostly vintage. I can't raise the real ones anymore because of my leg injury so that's the best next thing lol😅

I always use a pressing cloth when I iron or a piece of parchment paper on my board and on my piece of fabric whenever I use a stabilizer with glue.

Another hint when ironing on interfacing. I use another piece of fabric over the stitched piece and the interfacing
You can use a pressing cloth and that will prevent your iron from getting messed up.

I always use a press cloth when ironing interfacing. I’m currently using a Teflon sheet. It wipes off easily and protects my iron.

I don’t make the best bows either- but I do think some ribbon makes better bows than others. I think that helps me sometimes.
