Lord I needed to hear this. My mom and I never buried the hatchet and I was the black sheep. My siblings still having nothing to do with me but I was always the fireman for my parents even as the youngest. I had to settle this with God. Sorry but this is therapy for me.

When I became a Christian my best friend got saved at about the same time. She gave me one of Amy’s first albums which was my first Introduction to Christian music. I went to a few of her concerts with my kids when she came to my city. I read her book, “Mosiac,” which was very touching. She, like me, has had lifelong problems with depression. She will always be special to me and her music has touched my soul.

I believe that some of the most Saintly people have suffered through depression. I discovered Christian music in 1979 at Miami Youth for Christ. Music has been a good tool for my journey Home. Saw Amy when Michael W Smith was here keyboard player. She'd give him 20 minutes to showcase his material. Great music back then. Today's is to bubble gum. RIP Rich Mullins 🙏 Viva Cristo Rey 💪🙏
My sweet sister-in-law was diagnosed at 61y/o.😭 We has to put her in a nursing home at 62y/o. We told her she was going for therapy and to get her meds straight. She accepted that and was ready to go. I hate dementia. Such a devastating disease.
At 60 she is still really cute, tender and refined; absolutely adorable girl !
Amy is one person I'd like to meet in person and have a conversation with before I die. She's always held a special place in my heart. Her Age to Age album was the first I listened to when I was saved Sept 21, 1986 when I was 15.
I had a similar experience when my grandmother was dying. She was "asleep" for hours. My sister and I were singing to her. She suddenly opened her eyes wide. My mother (her daughter) said "Oh look, she's got her eyes open." I looked at Mother and said, "She's not looking at us anymore." A moment later she took her last breath. It was so peaceful.

Im a recovered alcoholic. I originally got sober with Jesus, becoming Christian. Afterwards, I never believed A.A when they told us we were not "normies"..cause we could not drink. In listening to you 3 ,I realize that besides being celebrities, y'all are just normal people who have done really well with the life God has given you. It must be so wonderful to have the experience of being connected to every phase of your life,and through every phase,to all the relationships,..AND the next phase,and at some point be able to have all those glorious memories. I have always wished I could have lived ,as a child,with my cousins in Indiana. California is a horrible place to raise children. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives for a while. Especially Amy. 😊😉😁I just discovered both you gentlemen in recent months...please accept my apologies 🙄...if it weren't for You Tube,I probably never would have. Many blessings to you and yours. Hj

I am sheltering in place and I came across this video. Amy Grant came to my then church and she was 17 or 18 when she just released her first song and album, Amy Grant, Father's Eyes. I feel like I have grown up with her and her songs and watching her maneuver her life. She is so real, so honest, so resiliant and I am still listening to her first songs from 1979 to the present. As a preacher's kid, to re-listen to the old hymns of faith that Amy has done that I grew up with has been such a comfort to me. Thank you Amy for sharing your gift of words and music and faith with us all.

I became saved due to Amy Grant her music and testimony really set me to seek a relationship with God. Thank you for having her on. My step mom has dementia and it has been hard on my dad. I use to work in geriatrics and more attention needs to be on this and help for care givers.
I loved her anology about the trees having an easier or a year of not so much rain. I reflected on my own life in which my life seemed that it was really healthy and then years I had it rough , I've come to realize that life is a cycle and like the trees showing their circles for the number of years they survived and made it through life until they were taken down , they tell their story by their end of time .
My mom is in the last stage of Alzheimer's. She was always the one who was the life of the party, organized family reunions, daycare worker at church, foster mom, and adoptive mom to me and my sister. Daddy is caring for her now and it is so hard on him to see the light disappear from her eyes, coming to terms with not hearing her sweet voice like he used to and having to help her do everything. We already lost 2 family members and a really good friend to this awful disease. Another family member has ALS and is very quickly declining. I miss my mom even though she is still alive.

The words point out to me what's meaningful, and so important in a more peaceful direction. I'm defiantly a ( Tree Nut ) too Amy!! This was so awesome! i felt like i was there with her and I thank you. When i lost my dad (2015) I felt the same. I was his primary care. I lived with him and was his aide day and night. He had Cancer not Dementia though. But as with Amy, when he passed, I felt like i could travel now, got to the store , go for a walk in the park etc and not feel i had to rush back. Not that he was a burden at all, I felt and still feel i was blessed to be in the situation where i could take of my Dad and will be ever so grateful for that!

I'm living in a home of introverts during Corona shut down and I found this to listen to while I was cooking dinner. Such a good chat about everyday stuff - I LOVED IT! Thank you for sharing. I really miss chatting with people during this time and I found this really helped me to think about something else for a while. I have watched Mr. Lowry for a number of years. I have much less time going forward in time, but I still need wisdom and love from others. These folks have been that for me. I enjoyed this interview so much. Honesty is amazing......Just so you know Mr. Lowry.....I am ready when the Lord calls me home, and I will go knowing my life is in order.

Absolutely one of the best "shows" I have ever watched! Better than Daytime or Nighttime TV! When Amy is in the house everyone is better! She has such a way about her that is comforting and reasonable. She is an example of "peace". When I met Amy a few years ago, I was a nervous fan but she made me feel so wonderful. She said "we grew up together" (referring to our age and lives- not literally). And now my Mother has dementia and she is helping me to deal with this in my life. Thank you all so much! I was blessed to meet Amy and hear her sing in 1978. She went to Furman University for a short while and sang at a Billy Graham event. So wonderful to see how her faith and talent have grown and sustained her all these years.

I first heard Amy's music courtesy of my Mom, who was a big fan. That was sometime in the mid-to-late '80s, and I still love her songs. I was blessed to attend one of her Christmas shows with Michael W. Smith, in 2016.
What a beautiful woman on both sides of her skin! She makes this world a better place. Planet earth needs more Amy's.

This was so good for me to watch tonight. My own mother is in the transition stage of of leaving us and meeting the Lord and it was a comfort to listen to Mark and Amy share their own experiences of losing their parents. Mark is so right. With Dementia, it certainly is like losing them already. Sometimes my mum knows who I am. Sometimes she doesn't.

Today is the anniversary of my mom's passing to heaven from congestive heart failure. Memorial weekend it hit me that I was an orphan at 71, because Dad passed the night before Easter 2018 from dementia/respiratory failure. I'm grateful that Lord gave my sibilings and me peace that their suffering was over.
God has blessed her in so many ways.

Thank you for this! I am currently going through my husband’s dementia. He’s been in a nursing home for two years, and sometimes knows me, sometimes not. But our 50 years of marriage revolved around our church and music, and now he has lost that love. I play music for him, I sing to him, and there is no sparkle in his eyes anymore. You do grieve twice. It’s hurting me so badly to watch him deteriorate, and I ask God to take him without pain and suffering. It helped me so much to hear you address your experience. Thank you, again.

Another great show with Amy Grant I really enjoyed her part in the conversation. What caught my ear was the interaction between Andrew and Mark about loss. I lost my sister, then mom and dad and for each one, I had my cry, then turned to help others in their grief. That is how I was raised. I miss them but don't grieve them, I look forward to what God has in store.

If you don’t like Amy and can’t forgive her, then I don’t know why you’re here., I guess you also have issues with Christians that you haven’t been able to forgive and let go of too. Perhaps you need to remove the plank from your own eye, before you complain about a speck in anyone else’s. Hope you can learn to forgive and move on some day.

Funny story. ..i was working durring the 80s a new restaraunt that opened in Brentwood Tn . ..we were slammed every evening as it was the only commercial non ma n pop place there and had great food ...
The place would get so packed durring the wait us waiters had to muddle tgrough the sea of people to get to our tables ...we are all having to invade personal space just to deliver food to the guest...so im squeezing between this woman n see her beautiful curls n face n say to myself wow she looks so much ike Amy Grant ..lol .....it was Amy.amd Gary . .very down to earth ...i got to meet her later at the End of her tour w Lead Me On

I can't believe I've just discovered this episode. I've been a fan of Amy Grant ever since I was a bubble gum chewing, clog wearing, middle school. I grew up with Amy Grant, and I feel that I've matured with Amy Grant. This episode is a treasure.
I am going through this now. My mom moved up with us in 2017 after refusing for 6 years (after my dad's passing). Her dementia is still in the early stages but so much of who she was is already gone. I appreciate knowing others have or are going through what I am experiencing. Plus, I've adored Amy Grant since 1980. Thanks - this interview was great!

I remember when she was on the radio all the time. Would like to hear more of her now. Loved her songs.
I took care of my stepmother, who had Alzheimer's and then my dad was physically fragile......he spent several years wanting to die. I often questioned God as to why he continued to let him live when he wanted to die. They are both gone and I wouldn't give up the what I did to give them dignity. It was not always easy but glad I did it.

My mother was born in Rutherford county. My grandfather was a sawmiller and singing school teacher who raised his own sawmill crew and gospel singing group wish he was here to here his wonderful fellow NC singers but one day they will get to hear each other sing. They migrated from Sunshine, NC through Georgia into Alabama. They were Toneys. There story was very much like, The Waltons

I lost My Mother From Breast Cancer,Also She suffered with dementia 😪😞She’s gone one year April 18,2018.I miss her so much😞But I know she is in a better place with the Lord.I been a full time caregiver for many years.My Mother had such a sweet spirit also singing and talking about the Lord,We had a true special bond.She touch others from Hospice and people who were visiting her.

Needed this today. I have older brothers and a sister that died at 17 at the hand of a drunk driver. I have a younger sister by 20 months, and I call her Miss Prissy Pants. I will be 58 in August, and in physical rehab 5 min.from.home. They keep losing my clothes, but the Old Lady with the Red Thong finally found her Underwear! I love writing stories, funny, malicious, singing silly songs, etc. My Mom died at 99, and my father died at 81 from West Nile. I have all kind of spinal damage, so I always have a screw loose! Prayers for all.. Loved Amy Grant songs. Listen to them all.

Ok - so I'm either not as weird as I thought I was, or I'm as weird as Mark. You are the first person I've ever heard to publicly articulate the same type of approach to grief as I have. When my mother passed away, she had been an invalid for 15+ years due to MS; then she was dancing in heaven (and finding out it's ok to dance!). What's there to grieve about that? It was probably six months before I shed a tear, and then it was because a my eyes met those of a passenger in a funeral motorcade and emotion just came pouring out. But once it was done, it was done. There are worse things than dying, so I'm all good with it whenever the Lord sees fit to call me home. Great conversation guys!
You Texas boys are too cute. I've watched/listened to this interview a couple of times because the topics hit close to home. Mark, I believe some people need "a little push". My brother has worked in nursing homes/hospice and has said that more people would support "death with dignity" if they saw the end of people's life as much as he has.

She was Christian when Christian wasn't cool! I've been an Amy fan for decades, riding along beside her as I navigated my college years listening to her first albums. What a ride it has been. Kinda like this interview. She is hard to follow as she discusses one thing and then leads into another, talking in analogies and quotes requiring a large amount of deciphering. It's exhausting. (Or maybe I'm just not much of an intellectual, which is VERY possible). Anyway, she's a writer and that is what writers do, I guess. Good luck, Amy, in the next chapter of your life. You were a faithful, loving daughter and you deserve every happiness. God bless you and your family.

Amy is a modern day christian (cool christian) she has always been a modern day christian. REAL followers of Jesus don't divorce and remarry (it's called adultery in the Bible) and they are also "fully clothed" (Think: Mary the mother of Jesus)

Good thing God is not bound by cultural imposition. Col 2:22 when meditated upon seems to speak as much about judgement as it does about cultural imposition.
Jesus taught that out if the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks- the speech of Amy Grant has always been gracious and reconciliatory. You judge a divorced woman that you know nothing first-person about, and know nothing of her personal story yet God still forgives/forgave if anything would need forgiveness. That’s sorta God’s business.
Judgement of another is outside your jurisdiction on one hand, and on the other is a little arrogant in that it’s an attitude that says, “this is how I think God should handle this.”

Oh my...I LOVE THE HONESTY. I wish we had more of this from the leaders in our church. They are wonderful men/elders - but they never share an iota of their weaknesses or things they struggle with or anything how grace and mercy was truly used in their lives. They present themselves as looking p-e-r-f-e-c-t.
Big clear . Most leaders in the church have way to much pride to admit there weakness and hidden sins but one day it will all be exposed

I loved your show. I just watched the movie last week with Amy Grant, " I Can Only Imagine". I love what you are doing and wish i could watch every issue of Mondays with Mark and Dinner Conversations. It all resonates with me very well.
Seeing her here I got confused about her age and had to Google it. It's hard to believe she's less than two years away from turning 60. She looks much younger.
