Thanks Jason, well deserved on the new subscribers, always happy to support another Aussie having a go, best of luck on the early retirement and new adventures.
As you are very much a re car guy, what are your thoughts on a Suzuki Jimny in Thailand. Are Suzuki's popular there or do you recommend an alternative, ie, somehing compact but potentially some minor off road capability?
Mate the Jimny is awesome and perfect for here but the price is ridiculous, 1,790,000, here’s a link to the Suzuki Thailand website, www.suzuki.co.th/?Suzuki_awo&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADBi-tXYezvrKZjvq5N5Yx0xU_vKC
Jason well done on the national stats. I was the Austrade automotive guy here years ago. Nothing much has changed. What remains interesting is the market shares of brands like Ford are higher in outer provinces. Also add the export numbers to local sales and the total production figures for each brand can be interesting. Any way, like you I was an industry guy. From my years here, there is always a deal to be had.
Fantastic vlog Jason, my favorite Thailand related channel, very informative and knowledgeable you have great mix and variety of subjects that are very helpful for anyone interested in visiting or retiring in Thailand. Thank you.
Thanks Andrew, I really appreciate the kind words and that you have taken the time to comment 🙏😁. Waiting in hospital to be discharged following my food poisoning 🤢
Wish you a quick recovery Jason and looking forward to more exciting content👌 I'm in Sydney and travel to Thailand often with the idea of retiring one day soon in that beautiful country🙏
Great video Jason, it's good to mix up the videos. There's loads of other channels out there doing apartments and property. Property is a niche. Loved this video. Top fives is a good way to go. Top 5 bars, top 5 night clubs, restaurants, etc. Worth a try. Not everyone is looking for apartments. ✌️🙏👍
Thanks, okay I will look into it and do some research, from what I see on the road the Toyota Fortuner is extremely popular but will do the research and make a video 👍
Great video. I have no knowledge on these Utes and I am looking to purchase one. I will be driving regularly between Hua Hin, Bangkok and Pattaya and will be conveying my Scooter. I do not need to drive through extreme rugged terrain other than dirt tracks/ poor roads. I would like a mean looking Ute that is economical to run and service ,that has a comfortable interior with sat nav and an excellent media player. What Ute do you think I should buy that fits my requirements?
Great video mate. As you were an x mechanic I wonder if you can give me some advice? I have been living in Thailand for 17 years now and I have an Isuzu SX 2.5 liter pickup open back. It's done 200.000 Km and I can't afford to buy another one so I want to keep it. Do you think It's worth me having the engine rebuilt? I took it to a mechanic friend of my wife and he told us the price of the rebuild and It's 30,000 baht give or take depending on what needs replacing and he tells us it will last for a good 10 years and more with average mileage if we keep it serviced. The bodywork is immaculate. So in your own opinion, what would you say? Any advice from you would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
Thanks, is that a diesel or petrol engine and why does it need a rebuild, burning oil or something else? If it was me and I couldn’t afford a new one, I would rebuild the engine or see if you can buy a crate motor which is a brand new engine without all the ancillaries, manifolds etc. Hope this helps and all the best 👍
Thanks mate It's a diesel engine. The bodywork is fine on it so I just want to have the car for good and put another 200.000 on the clock r more than that. The Thai mechanic up the road tells me You can keep a car forever if you re-build the engine. @@goodvibespattaya
Jason, great video. What Pickup are you going to recommend your Buddy James buys. Would be a great way to travel all around Thailand in a brand new Pick Up Truck.
Hey Craig, he was hell bent on buying a Ranger against my recommendation and not just because I’m not a ford fan but he realized Ford Australia had replaced 9 Rangers to customers and agreed it would be a tough ownership In Thailand so he is thinking Toyota
Very helpful and presented in a relaxed and informative manner, saving your viewers so much running around. It’s all there if you are after a Ute. Great vid. Thanks
Might I be as so bold to suggest that you could pin the prices on the vid post filming...this would cut the video length down a bit whilst being 'at a glance' very informative and easy to compare................cheers
Hi Jason,,Like me you have been in the motor trade for a long time. My background was mainly in sales..I started at a Holden Dealership in 1983..I use to deal with many area Managers over the years...Good luck with everything over the there..I have been coming to Thailand since 1983 also and generally travel there 4..or 5 times a year..Hope to see you around..Cheers 🍻
Wow, that’s great and yeah I started as an apprentice mechanic at a Holden dealer in 1982 👍 Thanks for sharing this and look forward to meeting you one day 😁
Hey bud, new follower here. Very good video on the trucks. I'm in USA now but spent most of last year in Thailand and coming back in 45 days or so to go after the non o visa. Everyone seems to be doing the property ones so mixing it up with trucks was a good idea. How about thinking about doing one on the top 5 cars? I know that would be a good one too. Anyway love your vids keep it up. Thanks
Great vid Jas. Good to know what’s out there and the associated prices. 50 grand for a Raptor is excellent compared to Oz. I priced one a few months or so back and I think the entry point was about 70-75k.

I think there main seller is the low riding extra cab and I see heaps of these on the road modified with exhaust, wheels and boosted, I think if I could find the info the majority of Isuzu sales would be the low riding version, they also have a one make race series on that truck and it has a huge following
When I worked in Thailand in 2001, the Isuzu pick up was the best selling vehicle in the country. There is a lower sales tax on pick ups compared to cars. Hence, pick up sales are greater than sedan sales.

What a great Video Jason. Very informative and enjoyable. Hilux number 2 ? Never!!!!! always number 1. Guess what I drive, 😅 Keep up the good work mate!!!
Thanks mate, yeah Hilux number 2 here, the Thais just love the DMax and it has almost a cult following, I think it’s mostly the low rider Utes, I see them everywhere and heavily modified 😁
Nice. Thank you and sorry for my late viewing. Any recommendations? Looking at buying a pick-up in Thailand, maybe second hand. Would be genuinely interested in your opinion - if that’s within your RUclips policy.
Yep I know, interesting that the Mazda BT50 doesn’t sell here, I don’t think they tell people it’s a DMax, the Mazda dealer has 2 in stock and they are 2 years old 😶
Cheaper than AUS for sure, but still far more affordable for us, than the average Thai. I was pretty sure Isuzu would be Nr 1. After many Thai trips, they seem predominant and just everywhere.

Thanks Don, yeah I will do video on used cars and maybe bikes and will also look into importing cars and investigate costs. Appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching 👍😁🙏
Yeah but the Mazda dealer has 2 extra cabs in stock that we’re built 2 years ago, the price is good but not that good to justify buying a new car that is 2 years old
I have been to Thailand loads of times and the amount of Americans compared to Australian and especially British, English you would think you would have more prominent pricing in Pounds and Aussie Dollars… There is hardly any yanks out there 🤨
Just purchased ranger wild track 2wd in Udon Thani $47000 drive away , they did paint treatment, interior protection, window trims and tint , swapped the grill for the black raptor style all thrown in, Drove it into an underground car park and thought the headlights were a bit ordinary, turns out they actually tinted the entire front windshield , only in Thailand. Quite a good deal and about what they are worth unlike the crazy prices people pay in Australia for these

That was a quite a while back, the Thai Toyota website has pricing
www.toyota.co.th/en/pricelist
Can you finance a car with a big deposit in ThaiLand or is it full price cash ? I will be an international college student in the fall 2024.
