- I documented an operating session on my HO scale industrial switching layout "Jayville Terminal RR" with some photos and film sequences with the help of my older son, who photographed and filmed with a smartphone.
The session was as follows.
Operating engine today is SW1500, NS # 1733.
Last night, CSX handed over 6 loaded cars and 1 empty gondola on the interchange track at South Jayville Yard. The first task of the crew of JT1 is to sort these cars in the yard according to the blocking list and to build the train to Jayville Industrial Park. In this session are 2 covered hoppers to deliver to "Big Foods", the empty gondola to the scrap yard, 2 loaded flatcars to the teamtrack and 2 reefer to the cold storage warehouse. The center flow hopper can be placed at the intended spot, whereas the grain hopper must be placed off spot, since "Big Foods" has only one spot available for unloading hoppers. The grain hopper must then be placed in the next session to the appropriate spot. For the two reefer, concrete spots are also planned for the cold storage warehouse, SOO 10010 at gate 1 and SOO 10006 at gate 2. Flat cars are usually placed in the front area of the team track for unloading. The gondola should be placed as close to the scrap loader as possible, "but more accurate instructions are given to the conductor by the people from the scrap yard". 2 empty cars at "Big Foods", 1 empty car at teamtrack and 3 empty cars at "Commercial Distributing" have to be picked up. Thus, a total of 5 industries will be served in this session. Upon arrival at the industrial park, the crew first serves "Big Foods" and then the scrap yard. Then the locomotive moves around the train and the crew serves the teamtrack, "Commercial Distributing" and finally the cold storage warehouse. After all the customers have been serviced, the train moves back to the interchange yard. There, the cars stay on the interchange track, where they will be picked up by CSX the following night. The locomotive moves into the house - ready. And yes, my whole rolling stock still needs some work. My used locomotives must be labeled for the JT, the cars have to be equipped and labeled for about 1995 and all together needs some weathering. But that's how it gets. From the photos and the film sequences a little movie was put together. Have fun watching.
In the US Model Railroad Forum I report on the construction of the layout. www.us-modellb...
