A beautiful little place. Guyana must showcase more of its places. All that is needed is to clean up the parapets and drains so you could enjoy the view of the rice fields and banana farms. A little park with benches near seawall where one can view the other island across. From 🇯🇲
Thanks for sharing, my great aunt was from Wakenaam, not been there for over 40 years since leaving Guyana, the stelling has not changed and is as I remembered it, back in those days the ferry Malali would stop there on the way to Adventure. Wakenaam means "Waiting for Name" in Dutch, it means they couldn't think of a name apparently!
Mr.A. Has it occurred to you that you have missed the most beautiful and significant part of your tour to Wakenaam? I am sure you were sincere presenting this gift to all and on behalf of all those of us from that Island, I say thank you. I am, however, disappointed with the bus driver for not taking you to the other villages .
@@afsadventures Do keep in contact. I will be there February 2025. I will share stuff with you that nobody from Wakenaam knows. In the meantime, I'd like you to learn the correct pronunciation of Wakenaam. It's not Wake, in fact, it's Wak! Wake is English.Wak is Dutch, simply put it Wakenaam in Dutch means waiting for a name. Cheers!
You guys had a fun boat ride. The river was really rough, but that's part of the boat adventure 😮. The driver was really fast. You guys didn't get to cover the entire island. He didn't take you into Caledonia- Zeelandia and into Ridge. Those are some other villages. The place where you got off the speed boat is the village where I grew up. It's called Good Success. There are lots of huge houses there. Some parts of the island have more rice and other farming take place. The island was much more popular and populated, but people are leaving for jobs. We had a silo there, then it was closed diwn, leaving lots of people jobless. There were lots of staff there, but the previous administration had made a senseless decision to shut it down. Its really sad that you guys didn't get to stop and have something to eat on the island. If you had mentioned that you were going there, I could have arranged it. Wakenaam has very generous people. You can get lots of things from your neighbors, pick and take. At least you guys got to see the place. It's a very beautiful post. I have shared this post with many. Lets hope that they will watch and enjoy. Have a wonderful night guys ❤❤👍🏽👍🏽💪💪🙏🙏🇬🇾🇬🇾💯💯💯💯
Wow I didn’t realize that there were more interesting places to visit on the island, we hire a bus and told him to take us around to the whole island, when I spoke to the aunt at the stelling then she said there was a hotel and so I was so surprised all we saw was a lot of trees but it was nice , hopefully on out next visit we will have a better tour of the place ❤
@@shabanamohamed4330 it’s our first time touring and expected the bus guy to give us a tour of the whole island more especially top sites, we have visited almost whole of Guyana and this guy did not even describe any places of interest

kiddo the view was good but could have been better if the driver was not racing in those pot holes, had to replay it like 20 times just to see , not sure is the bus was free made the driver care less
