this is a similar method modern instructors create ball striking machines out of young kids. they teach them how to swing fast and hard, then worry about the control aspect of the game. don't get too focused on hitting greens and fairways, learn the power game then deal with the hard stuff.

I maybe mistaken, but there is no way you can put a top spin on a golf ball, no ? Tennis, ping-pong, baseball, all of these, YES, but not golf ? 2) You say that we must have a little descending club path even with the driver to get the back spin. Wouldn't a parallel to the ground driver path at impact produce back spin, just because of the loft of the driver ? Thanks again and cheers !!!
You can put top spin on a golf ball, it makes the ball dive (just like a table tennis ball). I am sure that you will have seen this by others if not yourself. Top spin comes from making the driver face act on the ball in the same way that a ping pong paddle does and this is achievable only by swinging upwards on the ball.
Does it mean that the club head needs to make contact with an open or closed face to make it spin right or left? I understand about the back spin bit, and that makes sense. I was always under the impression that to hit a driver you had to hit it on the way up, not on the way down. I will have to try this on the range and see what happens....
If you have a SS of over 110 mph, hitting down on the driver is better for control. An avrage amateur golfer would be better "trying" to hit up on the ball. Because the reality is they are hitting down or level anyway. That's why an avrage amateur can often hit their 15° 3wood just as far and straighter than they hit their 10° Driver off the tee.
