Glad you notice him fly in and took action, not only did the web prevent him from flying I've heard of spiders eating them ! I do not see Hummingbirds in NJ except when they migrate thru the city, they hit the glass skyscrapers or fall to the cement, most do not survive. A friend & I rescue songbirds . A recent youtube video shows us in Newark NJ, the video is named ( Volunteers give migrating birds injured in N.J’s biggest city a second chance )'The Raptor Trust TRT made a older video named ( Window Strikes in the Business District ) No matter the type o bird or injury TRT always gives 100% effort to heal the bird.
@@randalllaue4042 Wow I just google the Field Museum, was a interesting article I was not aware of that place/org. In Newark we do not have a team or researchers, so I learned a lot from the article - thank you l
Addendum to our first reply: We finally got around to seeing your videos. Amazing selfless service! Reminds us of the girl throwing stranded starfish back in the ocean. An observer saying, there are so many-how can you make any difference? As she tossed a starfish back into the waves, she said ,"Well, it made a difference for that one." Very inspiring! Our local home-grown solution to bird strikes was the dangling string method. You can visit www.gardensall.com/bird-deflectors/ to see what we worked out. It's not 100% but drastically reduced the incidents. It was heartening to learn about 80% survive. Gives us hope every time we hear that sound and go running out to see if we can help. Cheers and well wishes!

Lovely of you to comment especially as a friendly rescuer of songbirds. Cheers!
In Chicago we are hooked up with Field Museum. They document all bird collisions. We also have “Wolf Spiders” that leave sticky webs...

Cheers! We cherish these opportunities to help.
Came for the squash vine borer video, stayed for the unique rescue! Way to be good stewards of GO's creation
So glad you stayed, Ryan. That occurrence was something of a miracle-from all perspectives. Right time, right place. Thanks for commenting!
