@@dayalasingh5853 Have you played the game? Eldigan dies, prince Kurth is killed and Sigurd and his father are blamed, Agustria falls into ruin, Deirdre gets kidnapped. Ch.4, Mahnya is killed, Silessia is ravaged by a civil war, Arvis marries Deirdre. And you already know what happens in Ch.5. So yeah, things definitely start going downhill from Ch.3 and never pick up until second generation.
Chapter 3 is probably my personal favorite chapter in Gen1, but that's probably me after going up and down in chapter 2 and wanting a different chapter lol.
@@THRACIA776ISTHEGREATEST there were also a few latin names in there closer to the end of the republic, like Hannibal and Julius/Julia. couldn't tell you why
@@rep1600 You're joking right? I mean honestly out of all the cast characters being randomly named after random mythological stuff... Hannibal of all people is probably the one most fitting.
@@somethingwithultra7231 well Hannibal himself was a famous Carthaginian general and regarded as one of the best in all of history, so it's certainly fitting that Thracia's famous general is named after him. Julius and Julia are male and female counterparts of the same name so that fits too with Loptyr/Naga
When I first tried playing FE4 in 2020, I went into it relatively blind, but it fucked me over so bad because the game did a terrible job at teaching its own mechanics. I didn’t understand the importance of arena-grinding or how to trade properly, and I didn’t know that autosaving existed, so I dropped the game around Chapter 2 after feeling miserable with underleveled units. Fast-forward to a year later, and I went into the game with a new mindset. When I finally got to Chapter 2, my team was more prepared this time (I got the Brave Axe for Lex this time), so I finally completed that infamous chapter. At this point, I was still hesitant about what’s to come next, but I was also partially excited since Chapter 3 was completely new territory for me. Chapter 3 is where the game truly turned around for me. From a story perspective, I really enjoyed Eldigan and his internal conflict. Gameplay-wise, Chapter 3 is when your characters start to have much more money, so I pulled off some nifty Paragon Ring trading strats to promote a bunch of my units during Chapter 3. I spammed Return staff with the Paragon Ring so that Lachesis would promote, and that was useful in allowing her to safely talk to Eldigan. Plus, the pirates section with Brigid, Claud, & Tailtiu is the first part of the game in which positioning actually matters from a tactical perspective (like in other FE games). Use Brigid to choke the narrow pathway was genius because she doesn’t counter at 1-range, meaning she never has to worry about suffering from success. Compared to Chapter 2, Chapter 3 has more care in its design, which finally adds the strategy element in what is mostly an arena/marriage-sim RPG. This song is one of the best chapter themes in the game, and I’ll always appreciate Chapter 3 for turning my opinion around on this game. Speaking of Eldigan, Ares is one of my favorite Gen 2 characters, so I thank Eldigan for having an OP son as Mystletainn is arguably my favorite Holy Weapon in the game.
@@oof776 Even after tons of trial and error, even with savestates, and Arena abusing, Fire Emblem 6 still has several badly designed sections, which is sad because it is one of the Gameboy Advance games, and although I did not need cheats for the two others out of the three. If one of the Gameboy Advance games were that hard to me, then I definitely knew the Super Nintendo games would be too. Way too many Super Nintendo games are way too hard, which stems down from “un-localization.” While changing the game’s language doesn’t do much, think about WHERE the game came from in what time period and you will realize why it is so difficult. I did get fat in Thracia 776, but I had to take a wild guess on what units would be viable later on. Once I reached the chapter where Leif is captured, I could tell that this game would not be enjoyable. Genealogy of the Holy War is even worse. Too many people love it for the story and dismiss the gameplay. Sigurd is obviously the best First Generation character, of course, but once you use up all of his swords, he becomes bad. No other character, aside from Azelle sometimes can do follow-up attacks. The only other game I had to deal with this problem was in Fire Emblem Fates, which intentionally has a slightly higher difficulty. I never made it past the Chapter where you recruit Ayra, simply because repeatedly using savestates wasn’t even helping at this point. Just like with the extremely hard Pokémon games (before X and Y), many people are blinded by nostalgia and do not bother to examine the negatives the game has.
@@oof776 Mystery of the Emblem definitely is easier than Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, but it is still bad in several arenas. Marth is no longer a tank, so I had to rely on Hardin and Ogma, who are only slightly better than Marth. Ironically, just like with Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, I am stuck on the chapter with several fortresses placed by a mountainside. I gave up, and I am not ashamed. Gaiden is definitely more fair, and you can tell what units are viable, and although I have played it, I know for a fact that down the line, I cannot finish it.
Best story, yeah probably. Music? I've only played a few but they're all tied, maybe awakening is lower because some of the songs are just not as great but some are perfect.
I wouldn’t say it has the best story. Certain aspects such as Deirdre & Sigurd’s romance felt forced, and the Arvis-Deirdre marriage was foreshadowed so heavily that the Belhalla reveal didn’t leave as much of a shocking impact on the player as it does on Sigurd. The politics are very interesting, but the romance could’ve been better. As for Gen 2, it’s a decent story, but it’s nothing special as it’s mostly Lewyn talking to Seliph through exposition. The kid characters don’t get much characterization, and Oifey only gets one conversation in the main story after his introduction even though he’s supposed to be Seliph’s father figure. Plus, a lot of Arvis’s development happens offscreen. Path of Radiance has a better story overall. For one, we actually get to see conversations that the villains are having, and we get an actual support system and base conversations to flesh out the characters. The story of the oppression of laguz is more intriguing than the story of the child hunts, especially since the former displays how even everyday humans are capable of evil such as the burning of the Serenes Forest.
